Mourning irony (1 Viewer)

Mr. Alonzo was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down, he thought
"Well, isn't this nice"

One of the things that I find ironic about these protests/riots is that much of the country will suffer financially from the result of the riots but among the few that will benefit financially are... the police. The more riots, the more OT they rack up.

One of the few true ironies in that song

You lost me man
The fact that he waited his entire life to fly didn't mean that he shouldn't crash when he does finally decide to fly.  Not flying for 30 years didn't make him any less likely to crash once he decided to fly.

A man always uses condoms with prostitutes because he is afraid of AIDS.  He decides to go bareback one time.  He gets AIDS.  Also, not ironic.  It was unlikely getting AIDS from just one encounter so it was bad luck, but not at all ironic.  Bad luck or coincidences do not equal irony.

Here is an example of irony.  A man refuses to fly because he is scared of crashing.  So he drives instead.  A plane crashes into his car.  So he still died from a plane crash even though he did what he could to prevent it.

He had a phobia about flying that was irrational. After waiting his whole life he finally overcame that phobia and got on a plane and then the plane crashed. That's ironic.

Other ironic part is that if the plane had landed safely, he wouldn't have waited his entire life because he would have lived longer.

Nope, not ironic.  Maybe him flying is a little ironic but the crashing isn't ironic.

I didn't really even look at the picture... love that moment so much.

and I was there in the garden- but basically straight up past the frame of the photo.. had no idea why Oakley all of a sudden lost his ####... more than normal, anyways... and was reaching for alonzo's legs.   oakley. I couldn't see wtf was going on from my vantage point and only learned about van gundy the next day.
