I do not like potato chips
GTFO - CLEARLY - you hate America! ;)

My Dad did not like potato chips either. . . in fact I don't recall him ever liking pizza either (hated pizza.)  He loved my Mom's horrible cooking though. . . I think she nuked his taste buds! :)

the are up there with Bugles.
Call me crazy.

Love Munchos. Dislike Bugles.

The first 5 are awesome -- making finger hats for one hand is a must.

After that, something makes me almost nauseous if I have too many. Can't remember if this is related to a traumatic Grade 2 birthday party incident or not.

I'm with @Binky The Doormat -- IMHO (in my hungry opinion) Munchos is actually a very underrated and underservedly forgotten chip.

Binky calls out the value factor, which in these days of $4 9oz bags is fantastic. Absolutely prefer them over Lays regular brand as they are much less greasy, light and airy, and have more of a salty kick to them. They are generally thicker than regular chips, and are great for dipping given they have some curvature to them.

As a regular salted chip, they are pretty dynamite. My only issue is that like those prawn/shrimp crisps you sometimes see at Chinese restaurants, their dry texture can pull at the lips and feel a little like they are biting back at you sometimes.

And to top off it off, as a fun fact, Munchos is responsible for giving birth to the iconic puppet Cookie Monster, who was into Munchos long before any cookie product.
+1 on this opinion. I love me some Munchos and Coca-Cola. Yum!

if plain chips were all that were ever available I would be just fine - I mean, it's such a perfect compliment to a sandwich. I rarely just eat potato chips alone (that are plain).

and a nice sour cream/chive dip or Lipton Onion Dip mix in with plain chips is a great alternative.

BUT - why skip all the other great alternative flavors???

sometimes I crave the Golden Flake Sweet Heat BBQ or a traditional sour cream and onion?

not opposed to all the new wild ones too - my daughter got me huge assortment of Asian flavors for my birthday last year - it was great!

also ...

Pringles - Cinnamon & Sugar, Kettle Maple Bacon, Lay's Cappuccino, et.

Plain salted chips for sure.

But the article then separated out kettle-chips (my daughter calls them the best bad chips) which are still salted regular chips. Just cooked different?
But when they won't do its tortilla chips w/ salsa or cheetos. But those are snacks, not chips.

I get that this thread has been bumped, but if you're asking this question you clearly haven't been exposed to as many flavours as we have over here. Regular salted is a clearly elite choice, but dependent on mood it is bland af

I enjoy a flavored chip but plain salted is the superior chip. Also the best way to evaluate other chips. One of my favorite things to do when traveling is try whatever regional chip I can find and always grab the plain. May grab an additional flavor as well

Costco can be so. . . random at times. I stumbled upon these chips from a company called Great Lakes and the flavor was very good and it's one he!! of a sturdy chip but they were called Parmesan Ranch. If I were sitting behind my computer, presumably with a beer, and I read that, I believe I would spit the beer on my screen in disgust. You're gonna have to trust me on this one though, they're pretty f-ing delicious.

Plain chips are my preferred chips. But there are times I'd like a flavored one.

better made - rainbow

When potatoes are stored they build up a higher content of sugar. These potatoes are sliced and fried into chips and they tend to turn dark. They are not burnt, have a sweeter taste and are called Rainbow Chips.
I had no idea that's what they were. I assumed they were just rejects that were fried more. Either way, they are the best chip around.

Red Can of Pringles!
I haven't had a pringles chip in about 25 years. Ever since they ran that stupid Pop Till You Drop ad where all these people were popping the can and dancing around with Pringles cans.

I vowed that day to never eat another Pringles. Ad was so stupid.

How does this thread make it several years without mention of the single best chip ever created, the Crawtator? Sure, Voodoo are good for a vinegar based chip but Crawtators's are where it's at. Crawfish boil on a chip. Yeah, buddy.
