My Draft Dominator Ultimate Fail, Can I get a Refund? (1 Viewer)

QB: Mahomes
RB1: Etienne
RB2: Ekeler
WR1: Hill
WR2: R Rice
TE: Laporta
Flex: Pickens
Flex: DJ Moore

Bench: Warren, Cooks, Chubb, Hockenson, Lazard

My only good pick was one I went on my own; Aubrey (my leading scorer)

Record: 0-4

Draft Dominator Grade: F

Any other subs wind up with such an awful result?

FWIW, I don’t actually want a refund, but these results are absolutely pathetic

The DD can suggest picks.

The DD can’t predict Tua getting concussed, Rice getting tackled by Mahomes, Mahomes being mid, LaPorta spraining an ankle & being in a very crowded receiver group, DJM suffering with a rookie QB, etc etc etc etc

Also, you didn’t have to take the top player suggested. I use DD & frequently go with my preferred player in a tier.

To be fair... YOU drafted this team, correct? I mean DD is just a fancy Excel spreadheet.
Yes, but their rankings are what I based the draft on. They are the experts, would’ve been better autodrafting.

Well, two things... 1) If you play this game long enough, you'll realize the "experts" don't know much more than the rest of us and probably suffer greatly from information oversaturation. And 2) if everyone used a Draft Dominator and every player turned out just as they're ranked we would all end up tied and fantasy football would be really boring.

Did you pay for the elite option?
I was only gold this year, I guess I’ll try the platinum version next season.
Gotta get the super elite extra luxury top tier package. That’s where a FF writer of your choice comes to your house and massages your shoulders while gently whispering suggested picks in your ear.

It costs $11,000 a year, but I’ve heard it’s worth it.

I expect some variance, but everything was a miss.

if I read between the lines in your argument, it feels like you’re saying this tool is borderline useless.

I think if you only play in 1 or 2 leagues, you're wasting your money on a drafting tool. I view a drafting tool as something for these people that are in a dozen (or dozens) of leagues and basically pay for services to run their teams for them.

Like every tool, it is up to the craftsman to use it appropriately.

Personally I avoided drafting Steelers, Bears, and Panthers. I felt LaPorta was overrated by ADP, so he was a DND for me unless he made it out of the 3rd, which he never did.

Like I suggested earlier - DD has tiers. I have my ranking & tiers. When sorting through potential picks, I look over the list and take my favorite player of that tier.

In that light, you are still responsible for driving the car that is the DD. And tbh, you drafted a great team.

Sometimes **** just doesn’t work out. That’s FF in a nutshell.

It has always worked well for me and is working well for me this season. You have to make some adjustments and draft to what your team needs at each pick, but it provides a good baseline. You can't predict injuries and that is just a part of sports....

Your team looks more unlucky and underperforming due to health more than it does due to it lacking talent. I think the only potential complaint you could have about the draft dominator is how thin you are at RB—-with Etienne being the only one that was remotely trustable before the season started when fantasy drafts were occurring. It looks like your team got drafted as almost a hero rb situation where you take like 1 rb in the first 5 rounds. In leagues where there is a 2 rb starting requirement—that’s a bit of a risky strategy as you almost need your hero to perform really well—and you need hope that one of the rb’s that you land in the middle/latter rounds does well enough to not hurt you. If one or both of those things doesn’t happen—-it’s going to be challenging.

Aren't Chubb & Hockenson on IR? Do you really only have 3 bench spots? Or is this not your entire roster?

Having used Draft Dominator for years and years, I find its best uses are just tracking other teams' positional needs at a glance, and keeping a list of available players in front of you so you don't forget someone who might be slipping in the draft. But otherwise don't use it to take who they actually recommend.

Looking at your roster I'm assuming your draft went something like:
1 Hill
2 Etienne
3 Mahomes?
4 LaPorta?
5-7 Rice, Pickens, Moore
8 Ekeler
...

Maybe that's who DD was recommending at each of those spots, but you can't grab a QB and TE in the first four rounds, and ignore RB2 until round 8 with Etienne as your RB1, and expect great success. You've obviously had some bad injury luck to deal with, but also seems like you screwed the pooch a bit on your own as well.

Sounds like terrible luck to me.

Your team looked awesome before week 1. you posted it in the “will that dog hunt” topic, I’d have said yes, for sure it’s a hunting dog.
Really? W Eckler in the lineup as his RB2?
You speak as though there isn’t a price to pay at RB for going Mahomes / LaPorta. Elite TE, Elite QB, that’s what’s going to happen. Every time. Surprised it isn’t someone worse.
