I just drafted a team a couple of days ago and was wondering how I did in the defensive player department. I am not very experienced with individual defensive players. But I did some research, so hopefully I did ok. Our league points are as follows:

Tackle Solo (1)

Tackle Assist (0.5)

Sack (3)

Interception (2)

Fumble Force (2)

Fumble Recovery (2)

Touchdown (6)

Safety (2)

Pass Defended (1)

It is a yahoo league so both linebackers and linemen are regarded as DL. We start 2 DL 2 DB and 3 D (DL or DB). SInce linebackers usually score the best in our system I will start 5 LB's and 2 DB's. Most of my bench is tied up with offensive players, so right now I only have 1 bench spot for my defense. Here is my team:

D L. Tatupu

D D. Brooks

D A. Hawk

DB K. Rhodes

DB E. Coleman

DL E. Sims

DL S. Fujita

Bench D. Ryans

How is my team looking? And are there any guys that I should pick up that might be on the waiver wire? Thanks, all help is greatly appreciated.

Looks pretty good to me, especially if it's a dyansty league. Tatupu, Sims, and Hawk should all be very good LBs. I have Tatupu and the two Jets safeties in my league dyansty league and they were money for me last year

Not a fan of Coleman. Would probably start Ryans over Fujita. Get E.J. Henderson off the waiver wire and beef up your DBs ...

:goodposting: Ryans was probably a pick you got tremendous value for, and you never even realized it. He may produce more than E. Sims or Hawk this season.

You're team looks pretty good from here.

It's hard to get to every thread asking for team help (who to pick up, who to start, how's my team). It's really difficult to give good answers about your waiver wire though. You'll get more answers there if you give us a couple of good options to debate for you.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I picked up Ryans off of the waiver wire after reading some articles and forum postings (especially from here) about him. So, he was a great value since I got him for nothing. I have picked up Henderson off of the waiver wire as well.

Also I was wondering if I should pick up Odell Thurman. He was recently dropped by another team. I know he is suspended for 4 weeks, but when he comes back, will he produce as he did last year?

Here is a list of the top scoring DBs from last year on the waiver wire.

S. Spencer

S. Brown

(Phi - DB)

S. Schweigert

(Oak - DB)

D. O'Neal

R. Mathis

If you have room for Thurman and can mitigate the risk, pick him up. You'll be loaded at LB, which is assuming your rookies start producing, and will be able to trade someone about the time Thurman returns.

You can never have too many solid and starting LB on your team. Grab Thurman. Squat and hold. Drive up the market. Control the market. Unload one of your players upon Thurman's return to a team that will be in dire need of help.

I'd rather have Thurman than Fujita.

I wouldn't even look at a corner in that league setup unless he's a proven run-stuffer. Michael Boulware and Nick Collins are both solid options on that FA list. There's almost no reason to flex a DB in this league unless you're benching an absolute stud at DB3.

Splitting hairs maybe, but I'd dump Fujita for Thurman or Collins (depending on bye weeks/depth issues).

Pretty much echoing previous sentiments ....

Dump Fujita.

Also, I'm not high on having two safeties from the same team. I'm a Coleman owner but Rhodes is the better option.

Trade Coleman now while you can boast of his top 15 production from last season.

I would also drop Coleman for Collins or Boulware and search the waiver wire for a surer thing than Fajita who appears to be a strong side backer at the moment.

If your league rewards pts for KR/PR, I'd take a look at Justin Miller.

I'm sure a Jets homer can correct me, but last I looked he had the PR duties this year.

I love Spencer, but as niner homer I'd stay clear. He is by far the best CB on the team and I expect less teams to challenge him this year.
