My Formal Apology to Jason Garrett (1 Viewer)

It's threads like this one that make me glad I'm more a fan of NFL football than a fan of my favorite team (the Colts).

I'd like the Colts to be the best in the league and win the Super Bowl and all that but I could not imagine being so jacked up over a football team.
I just don't understand this at all. I really don't. I read this and i picture you being starved for 5 years in a cell somewhere in North Korea and I show up with a six pack, a pizza and your walking papers while you look up and say "I'm really not much of a beer drinker and I hope the pizza doesn't have olives.
Picture me however you want. I have a picture of you with a shrine to the cowboys in your bedroom. That's my takeaway from this. I'm sure you don't actually (or maybe you do). I doubt it though. I absolutely love football, but I'll put it this way....if I had to choose between my fantasy team winning a Super Bowl and the Colts winning a Super Bowl, I'm going with my fantasy team 100 times out of a 100.
What? You are a very new kind of football fan. Me, if every team I had in fantasy was 6-1, stood to win four figures in every league and an all night pass to the G club with a Hummer limo full of $5 bills vs. have the Cowboys win the whole thing and watch ALL my 6-1 teams lose every game. No brainer......I would gladly pay the dues and still by the keg for the party and be happy as a bear a salmon run.

I'll admit most Eagle fans are ###-holes. But most Cowboy fans have low football IQ. Nothing cracks me up more when I talk football with a Cowboy fan about the season or players and all they can say is Jerry was dumb to fire Landry. :clyde:

Most of the Cowboy fans I know and I live in Texas don't even who the hell is on their team besides Romo, Bryant and Murray. Some even think Bryant is TO.

I will admit though I am glad Dallas is making a run. This only makes our teams stronger leading into playoffs.
You could replace the team names in every state and til work. I find that 95% of all "fans" couldn't name 5 players on their own team. When I meet a new person and they start talking football, I immediately start talking to them about their team. You find out real quick that they either get real excited to finally meet somebody who knows about their team/ football or they know nothing and just go quiet.

Yeah, well I don't get that either. I know pretty much my entire 90+ by training camp, then try to watch a read to see if I can predict the first, second and third round cuts. You also have a better idea about other players in the league. I can easily rattle off both offense and defense in my head at night trying to mix and match to put packages together.

Nice play calling to go with three straight passes with your injured QB to end the game.
Seriously. I want a formal apology from Linehan for that one. Hes been great all year don't know why he got cute there. Took any slim chance they had away.

Yeah, I was wondering when this game was coming. The Cowboys just made too many mistakes. You can't let a rival team believe they can win. They had a chance to take over the game then Murray's fumble on the 5. Randle's fumble was a killer too. I knew at that point it was going to be one of those game. They just never looked like they had a handle on what Wash was trying to do to them on Offense or Defense for that matter. Missed tackles, especially McClain's miss in the 4th just before the big pass to Jackson. What really surprised me was on 2nd and 2 in overtime, just after Murray goes for 8, you call a swing pass. Maybe that was nitpicking but just seems to me you run until they stop it. Especially since Romo was hurt. Never had a answer for the Blitz either. Where was the slant.

Very odd game but typical for a Cowboys vs. Skins game I guess. Congrats Skins fans, you took it to us in our own house.

A Really good team finds a way to win that game in spite of themselves. We are looking at a good team but a few defensive players away from becoming a serious contender. Murray makes it 8 in a row though. Man o Man this team is going to be right there the rest of the season.

Arizona game becomes huge.

My neighbor is a "die-hard" cowboy fan. Has a Romo Jersey, teaching his son to be a cockroach Cowboy fan as well. Dude barely talks football and when its apparent that they aren't going to win anything he moves on from watching football. After every 8-8 year he sheepishly acknowledges his team's suckitude with a whimper. Now that they are off to a good start, all of a sudden he's out on his stoop every #######ed night spewing the same bandwagon, look at me and my Jersey, In Jerruh we trust BS that the OP is. He is representative of every Cowboy fan in this area. Worse than general bandwagon fans because not only do they disappear when winter and real-romo start to show up, but the first moment they have to gloat about whatever self-perceived success Dallas has had, they come out in DROVES and talk #### like they are god's gift to fandom. Worst fan base in the country.
It's really odd that adults generalize to this level, based on what sybmols that make up a "team" a person follows. If you really think there is a force that ties a person's fundamental personality to what color jersey they wear...

Rough game to watch as a Cowboys fan. You can't let teams hang around in the NFL, especially when you lose the turnover battle. The offense is very draining on the clock, which is great when you score, but keeps teams in the game when you can't finish your drives. And I hate that DeSean stayed in the East--he's always given Dallas major issues.

Cowboys have gotten some things figured out on offense but they are still fundamentally a dumpster fire at their very core. Jerry is still their GM and Romo their QB, therefore they are going to shoot themselves in the ### again. And it's going to be so much more entertaining to watch this year after expectations have been raised and all their fair-weather fans have emerged from hibernation.

Romo can make plays if he is the secondary piece. When they put all the pressure on him...this is what happens.

1st down- Run for 8 yards

2nd down- horrible check down for a loss.

3rd down- pass

4th down- pass

This is why the Cowboys lost. This...and not leaving Romo on the bench after he got hurt. He did nothing to help. Weeden looked fine. This was ONE game. Romo should have stayed in the locker room.

There were three of those. 2 down and goal to go with Murray averaging 7 yards a carry they throw twice. 4th Quarter, Murray goes for 9 yards they throw three straight times once for a sack loss of 9. Overtime Murray goes for 8 yards on 1st down and then they throw three straight, game over. Just doesn't make sense. Really doesn't make sense. Your QB just came out of the locker room and you hand the ball off to Murray and he goes for 8 then never go back to him. Mindboggling.

Again , not having a play/answer for the blitz package Wash was bringing is the issue.

I don't believe this to be true at all. Funny how one 3 point loss to a hated division rival changes PERCEPTION.

Hasn't changed mine one bit. I knew the game was coming sooner or later. Now if we lay and egg in Arizona and let the Jags hang around I will be concerned. After this close loss to the Skins, not concerned at all. I am concerned about Romo's back and Durant being out for the season. Just can't keep a stable LB core. It's just crazy.

I wouldn't have gone as far as starting a thread on it but the kid is right.

I wa really down on Garrett and I admit I still don't like his buddy buddy relationship with Romo but after I started listening to podcasts of the local media, I'm on board. They all rave about Garrett and how Garrett has finally gotten Jerry to back off. They talk about how he's a mix of Landry and Jimmy.
This is why Cowboy fans will always be the best. Dallas/Texas media are so far up their own asses they don't even know which way is up anymore. Watching/listening to them you begin to honestly feel like they think the Earth revolves around Dallas/Texas. It is wonderful how delusional they really can be.

Nah, Dallas will learn from this. They've still got arguably the best back in the league with a very good O-Line. The Cards game should be a good test.

I have 3 suggestions for Garrett:

1. Don't take your best player off the field on 4th and 3 in OT.

2. Don't pass on short yardage goal line looks (twice) and not use your best weapon to punch it in.

3. On the final series you ran the ball on 1st down and got 8 yards in OT. Your running game was getting 7+ YPC all game and you have 9:00+ left in OT, plenty of time to run the ball down a tired front 4's throat. Then you passed on the next 3 downs and lost the game.

I hope he learned from this.

So is last night the first signs of Dallas trying to take some of the load off Murray? Or was it the game that dictated he only get 19 carries on the night?

I think they were trying to out-think themselves by not giving Murray to much of a workload. The OT playcalling was not good point blank. I have no issue with Romo coming back into the game because if we would have won everyone in America would be singing a different tune (ala 9ers game 3 years ago). We knew that the Boyz would lose again but of course once the targets on your back, every loss will be magnified. Go out take care of business vs AZ and we will be good to go.

I'd like to add that we have to adjust to the Cover 0 blitz because if we thought what Wash did last night was something....AZ does this consistently and if we can't pick it up or make them pay it could end Romo's season Sunday.

Most people I know that wear Dallas Cowboys jerseys have insufferable personalities.

Misery needs company.

Drinking the kool aid waaaaayy too much. I've been a fan my entire life (until recent years) and can't give credit to JG. I personally believe the only reason they are winning is they took the football out of Romo's hands and the team off his back (literally). Building the offensive line allowed them to do that. Ironically they built it for him and Garrett would be all gung-ho passing offense if Romo hadn't hurt his back. Romo would have faltered and messed up too. I think chance came into play more than anything here. It's nice to watch... and makes me more certain everyday that Romo never was the guy and we should be making transition plans there immediately.

Well Cowboys take another hard one this week. I saw this one coming but not last week. I see a 10-6 / 9-7 finish this year now does that get them a wild card or do the 49ers or Seahawks come on strong to close the gap the last 7 weeks?

Ahahahhahahhah cowboys fans quiet now!!!! Like I said eagles win this division easily go birds baby!!!!
We played a close game against Zona with a poor backup QB  .

Didn't Philly also lose to Zona? We'll see after Dal and Phi play twice. Philly still has GB and SEA coming up. See you chickens on turkey day.

28-17 isn't really that close. You better hope Romo can come back and be serviceable otherwise you'll see 8 man in the box a lot. Murray is good but when you are one dimensional it is not a winning formula on offense. Can't wait for Turkey day, should be a fun game to watch.

yay, now the eagles fans are crowin........good luck with dirty sanchez.......didn't he do the butt fumble?

Eagles fans have been laughing at this thread since it started. And thanks for the well wishes! Sanchez DID butt fumble a few years ago. You know what else he did? Come in as a back-up and actually win the game. How bout your guy?

The game stayed pretty close at 14-10 through the first half of the 4th quarter. The ending was brutal for cowboys fans. I still considered it a close game based on game flow.

All the Romo haters need to realize that he's pretty good, even with the costly mistakes. This is the type of game Cleveland fans have been dealing with for decades.

A fantasy wasteland even for Murray with his worst output of the year.
