Is there a player tracker feature?

Say I input X number of players I want to focus on, and it would highlight FBG articles, podcasts, message board threads, news links that mention those players...

For example, my local league has 18 man rosters...say I select those 18 and it shows a page with links to all the content about my guys...

News links and current projections, yes. I don't believe the rest will be supported, but Doug will know better than I.

Right now, it shows projections but no news links for my guys.

Another feature that would be absolutely killer would be a link to download the tabular results as either CSV or XML so it can easily be imported in excel...I can't tell you how many times I've highlighted the tables on this website, copied, pasted into a text file, and then opened the text file in excel (and yeah I know about web queries in excel, no dice on the new pages)...

 I use that all the time! Say it ain't so...

You can grab the whole page I suppose, but the tabular results are not recognized as a table in Excel 2003 (I didn't really dig into this, just went back to my old copy/paste/save/open routine)...my only point is it would be very easy to offer a CSV or XML version that could easily be imported...

Underneath the projections, you should see your list of guys. After each guy should be a little yellow box that looks something like this (conceptually):
QB Drew BreesOutlook Stats Game logs Splits Play-by-play Latest news
Clicking "Latest News" will get you all the blogger stories that contain his name. In addition, if the player has a spotlight and/or a faceoff done, those links will appear in the list as well.During the season, all of the player's blurbs from Wimer's injury report, Gray's Players in the News, and Henry's waiver report and sleeper report will be included right there on the page.

There's also a navigation stumbling block...now that I have a profile setup when I go to the MyFBGs page I should just get the view for my default profile...landing first on that descriptive overview page is a hassle and introduces an additional search for a link and a click that is entirely unnecessary...

I was just noticing the same thing today.I'll see if I can't get some auto-forwarding set up for people who have a profile defined.

This is sweet! Any chance of integrating rosters and scoring from MyFantasyLeague.com? I goto FFToday only for this feature.

Great work!
fwiw, MyFantasyLeague.com offers an XML feed of their league data, including league scoring systems and league starting lineup requirements (see here and here for the details), in theory, it should be do-able...
Oh it's not do-able, it's already done.http://www.fftoday.com/mflpower/playerrank.php

Insert your league ID, and then it customizes the projections to your scoring. It's pretty sweet. Would be a great addition to MyFBGs.
This is pretty cool, but I didn't notice any change in the rankings from the default to my league. i.e. Bush and Westbrook are low considering ppr. Are you sure it adjusts for scoring?

No clue. I just like the colors.Regardless, it does show that you can fetch rosters, scoring and lineups from MFL. I'm sure it would make it easier to setup profiles if you can generate most of the info from the MFL RSS.

I think this is fixed now.

I have played around a little bit with the myfantasyleague import.I don't want to promise anything, but there is a chance that that could be integrated into MyFBG sometime this year.

Technically, MyFFToday allows you to input your league scoring and the projections, player stats, player pages, points allowed, Crank Score calculator, etc. are customized for that.MFL Power on the other hand allows you to input any league ID from myfantasyleague.com, and in the case of the link you provided (preseason player rankings) finds all the players on a roster in that league and either (a) highlights the roster for a specific team, or 2 teams to compare, or (b) highlights all free agents against the player rankings.

Thanks for the props Dhizz. Just wanted to clarify. That is, if you can stand the stink of what BigSteelThrill considers a cess pool

One thing is for certain. The grass is definitely greener over here :lmao:

Looks like such a good feature, but sort of rendered useless to this subscriber without a few things such as incompletions, missed field goals, fumbles lost etc.

What about the the other major league hosts?RTS, ESPN, CBS, Yahoo, Fanball...

That is, if you can stand the stink of what BigSteelThrill considers a cess pool
When I was there the forums were an absolute cess pool. It was out of the control and nasty. It may have changed in the past years. I know the site seems fine, but the majority of FF interaction is on the a forums and those were horrible. :shudder:

It looks like a redirect (when I would've expected this to be handled in the php layer), but it's a great improvement

Fantastic.

On the scoring input page it would be nice if the options were consistent with the other Footballguys products. Scoring input should be the same as the VBD cheatsheet/Draft Dominator.

I haven't read all of the above posts, so don;t know if this has been covered, but is there a way to have the news wire for just the players in your league?

Instead of clicking on "latest news" for every different player, it would assemble it all in one page.

I'll post this here too since this thread has more traffic.

Hi,

Wouldn't it make more sense to organize the player projections in the MyFBG pages by players instead of by the FBG staff members? It'd be a lot easier to compare the projections for one player when they are side by side instead of trying to glance at other parts of the screen to see the other projections for the same players.

thanks.
I went back on forth on that before ending up where I did. I think I ultimately decided that these are the questions you want answered:Who does Dodds think I should draft/start?

Who does Henry think I should draft/start?

Who does Wood think I should draft/start?

etc.

as opposed to these:

Which projector likes Delhomme best?

Which projector likes Favre best?

Which projector likes Cutler best?

I'll continue to think about it, though.
You might be surprised that most viewers might not differentiate between which staff member is projecting the stats. Maybe if there was an annual audit to see how each staff member did with their projections at the end of the season that would make sense. All I really look for is the player I am interested in and the different projections made by the collective staff. I don't have a favorite staff member and really don't care about individual staff members' projections. But I do like being able to see how much variation is in the projections for a certain player by all the staff members.

Is the "Customized Draft List" really only a draft list for an auction??

I ask this because it ranks the players based on that "Value" described in that article linked on the page, which really has only to do with auctions. As well, the myFBG "Customized Draft List" doesn't come out anywhere the same as the Draft Dominator using David Dodds' projections. The stats for the players are identical, but the draft lists are not. (Yes, I removed the SOS weights from the DD)

Basically wondering if that "Customized Draft List" is really only for an auction, cause if so, you should report it as such, cause the two draft lists (myFBG vs DD) are VERY different.

If its just a matter of using two different methods of "value" for myFBG and DD, then I think you should either include other value methods in the "Customized Draft List".

Maurile's VBD Auction Method for my league in the DD spits out the top 25 QBs in order with only LT, S-JAX and LJ sprinkled in. Doesn't seem correct at all....and this is the type of "Customized Draft List" I am gettin as well....not very useful.

Anyone?Could a staff member comment on the use of this Auction VBD baseline for the "Customized Draft List" which is VERY misleading for a 2 QB league making one aspect of myFBG basically worthless.

fridayfrenzy,Sorry for not responding sooner. I've been spending the better part of the last two days (since I read your post) trying to figure out why my values weren't matching up with the DD's.After consulting with Bruce, I made a few tweaks. It turns out that they already did match up pretty closely pretty closely (and soon they will match even more closely) with the DD's auction values if, under VBD baseline, you select MT's auction method. But the issue is that the DD was not sorting the list by auction value. Bruce has told me that the new version of the DD will sort by auction value. So if you:1. wait a day or two for me to tweak the "custom draft list" program a little.2. download the new DD when it's released.3. select MT's auction method as your VBD baseline of choice (IMO that's the best choice, but that's JMO)then you'll get lists that match up almost exactly. Now, there is still the issue that you might not think that list is appropriate for a start-2-QB league. I think I might agree with that, and I think I know a way to tweak MT's algorithm just a shade bring it into line with what you (and I) might think is more reasonable.Bottom line: give me a few days and I think you'll be much happier. Thanks for bearing with us while we work this stuff out.

Thanks. What is the reason for FBG going to MT's new VBD algorithm as its standard for the "Customized Draft List", as opposed to "Joe's Secret Formula" or worst starter VBD?Is this a new push by FBG to a new type of VBD?

I've played around with this, but cant find where you put in your team. Is it just the players to watch?

I have been playing with this feature, and agree that it's awesome, but I am having one problem. It doesn't seem like the custom cheatsheet is using the scoring that I put in for my league. If I take the projected values and apply my rules to them I get a much different fantasy point total than what the cheatsheet implies. Is there a way to fix this, or do I need to manually apply my scoring rules to the projections? (I was able to pretty closely mirror my league scoring in the setup, it just isn't used in the cheatsheets).
