Feel free to post your experiences or lack of here. Did it meet all the media hype?

For those of you traveling in/out of SFO today, bonus is food workers at the airport are on strike so bring your food if you are venturing out there!

So what is worse:

Adding "-maggedon" to the end of things or adding "-gate" to the end of things, or adding "-aholic"?

Is this where we laugh at californians and their 'storms' like they laugh about anyone else having an earthquake?

Don't forget the rain we have in our forecast for next Mon and Tuesday and possible showers on Wed. Good times! We should be out of the drought by then! :towelwave:

Will be a great ski season at least!

SWEET. Time to make some Tahoe reservations.

ETA: But yeah, I do feel for those suffering the ill effects of this severe storm in the meantime.

That squall that rolled through about an hour ago was pretty intense, looked like someone was throwing buckets of water against my back patio slider. Flash flood warning through 10:15 up here in Marin, although that band of weather has passed through to the east now.

I worked in downtown San Anselmo the last several years, most of those businesses are sandbagged already and closed for the day. Of course that's because this wasn't that long ago.

Feel so bad for those business owners. :(

No idea how bad it is as I have no desire to get out of bed! I'll check outside in a little while when I'm bored watching taped soccer games

Well for CA, a record breaking drought ridden state at that, this is something no one saw coming about a month ago. People in some areas literally had no water. The wells were dry and water was being shipped in to them. So when you go from one extreme to the other practically overnight, I'd say it's pretty noteworthy in a state that is known to be overall mild weather.

Here's the 7 day rainfall total.
You'd think the map has the east and west backwards! It's only starting and it looks like it's been going on for a day already in some places.
That's a map of projected precipitation over the next 7 days.

How are the mudslides?
I'm sure they are dong just fine, thank you. :P I don't live in those areas thankfully. Close though... My mom who lives in Seattle is telling me not to go out today. Um, you go out all the time in this type of weather! ;)

The wind about a hour ago was nuts. The rain is coming down in sheets now.

No damage yet besides deck chairs tipped. Keeping an eye on the pool as its getting close to over flowing.

Was supposed to fly through SFO for the day tomorrow. I think I'll be canceling that.
Good idea. I'm sure the food worker's union at SFO has the upper hand right about now as passengers stranded there are without food and drink unless they brought their own.. Great timing for them to strike! :D

my company provides erosion control bags for the California market. we're tracking 2.5X ahead of last year's numbers mostly because of this storm alone. it's nuts.

Winds 73 mph and 2" in rain in the past 1.5 hours in Daly City.
So pretty much a normal rain storm in the southeast?

EDIT: NM looks like willie beat me to it.
I didn't know we should be comparing the storm to what other states can see. Seems like it would make more sense to look at your own state's records to determine what is out of the norm.
Point is....

CA:  Our state is so dry.. we're in record droughts!

CA:  Our state is so wet...we're having a strong rain storm (for many areas) but we're acting like the world is ending

WORLD: Tough ####... leave?

CA: NO! We LOVE it here! :hot:

And we don't hear this from other places, say like places that have tornadoes and hurricanes and folks there cry but refuse to move? At least here we have great weather a lot more often than the rest of the country! :pickle:

Also it's never normal to go from extreme drought to flooding over night. I'm not in the badly hit areas so no, I'm not complaining. Just feel bad for those who are, wherever they are in the country.

Can we say the same thing about the Northeast every time they ##### about having a snow storm? I mean doesn't that happen 2 or 3 times EVERY year? Shouldn't they be ready for it by now? Cry babies.

They already do this any time an earthquake hits east of the mississippi.

The media tends to put words in our "mouths" that we never uttered. I'll take our weather pattern over any other part of the nation any day! :towelwave:

More appropriate:

Some say the end is near.

Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will.
I sure could use a vacation from this
