Foxy is the right word.Yeah she was very foxy and an awesome guitarist.
Ann was the singer though and probably the best female rock voice of all time.Vocally, musically, and everything else. I mean, c'mon! Superior axe slinger for starters.
All else is gravy.
Yes, I am, sorta, dating myself. So?
I always post this, because Ann was hotter than Nancy at one point. But Nancy's MTV era -- remember 'Never'? -- killed me every time.Ann was the singer though and probably the best female rock voice of all time.Vocally, musically, and everything else. I mean, c'mon! Awesome... my eyes are glassing over at the thought.Worked with a guy once who was a drummer for the Wilson sisters when they were in HS. We used to love to get him drunk cuz he'd invariably tell the story of them all skinnydipping in a pond outside the barn where they rehearsed. As he would tell the story - he actually thought Annie was the hotter - he would glass over more and more til his entire face was trapped in a catatonia of loss. We could never tell if the regret was based in having been so close but so far from being in Heart, or that he never got to dog those butterflies...
Have to fit Stevie Nicks in there somewhere, if we leave Summer and Chaka in there due to their voice (not sure either was "rock"..) then Ronstadt has to go but Stevie needs to be in there.Uruk-Hai said:Mount Rushmore of powerhouse female rock vocalists of the 70s:

Aretha doesn't count because she would have to stoop to reach Rushmore, and Streisand doesn't either because she only dabbled (but would've been a GREAT rock vocalist).
Apologies to those who have gone down this path with me before, but........Have to fit Stevie Nicks in there somewhere, if we leave Summer and Chaka in there due to their voice (not sure either was "rock"..) then Ronstadt has to go but Stevie needs to be in there.Uruk-Hai said:Mount Rushmore of powerhouse female rock vocalists of the 70s:

Ha, well I said "not sure." This came up with a great rock songs discussion elsewhere and I raised that Sly and the Family Stone and Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder were left out. Others said they weren't rock. (And btw what you end up with is a long list of white artists in the top 30/50/100 that way, though that really shouldn't play into it it feels strange). You can either view it as an era which includes a lot of variety, and basically anything with an electric guitar, or you can get technical about it and leave out what's called r&b or soul (or blues). I'm ok with it either way. I'm much more inclined to put Chaka in than Donna Summer though, just because funk and r&b (and blues) are a lot closer to rock and its roots than say... disco. And as much as I love her voice and respect her unfortunately much of Summer's work was indeed that.Apologies to those who have gone down this path with me before, but........Have to fit Stevie Nicks in there somewhere, if we leave Summer and Chaka in there due to their voice (not sure either was "rock"..) then Ronstadt has to go but Stevie needs to be in there.Uruk-Hai said:Mount Rushmore of powerhouse female rock vocalists of the 70s:

SaintsDome, you have the floor to explain why they're not
They were idiots and had not one solid piece of ground to stand on. Ask them to defend it and watch them stammer all over themselves.Ha, well I said "not sure." Wasn't really tryin to compare careers...I was kinda going with combination of "rock" pipes and "hotness"Have to fit Stevie Nicks in there somewhere, if we leave Summer and Chaka in there due to their voice (not sure either was "rock"..) then Ronstadt has to go but Stevie needs to be in there.Mount Rushmore of powerhouse female rock vocalists of the 70s:

Yes, yes you were.Am I the only one whose initial thought that this was about the "other" Nancy Wilson?

If I were granted a wish to hook up with any girl I wanted, I would travel back in time to 1975 and bang Stevie in a giant pile of coke and velvet.Have to fit Stevie Nicks in there somewhere, if we leave Summer and Chaka in there due to their voice (not sure either was "rock"..) then Ronstadt has to go but Stevie needs to be in there.Uruk-Hai said:Mount Rushmore of powerhouse female rock vocalists of the 70s:
