a 3 category contributor, 1 category stud off of waivers is pretty nice.Next great OF? He's 27 and he just now locked up his first full time gig...barely...on the Pirates. I still like him for a cheap power/steals/run scoring combo late in the draft but to call him the next great OF I think is more than just a little out there.
right. He couldn't get a full time crack in the lineup with the greatness of Tike Redman and Chris Duffy ahead of him on the Pirates depth chart. He could be serviceable, 20 homers, 30 steals.....but average is not going to be very good. I think of him as having the upside of Mike Cameron, who did manage to have a few productive offensive years.Next great OF? If he puts together this kind of line together on a monthly basis for an entire season, we might be looking at another Grady Sizemore.

checking in here.McClouth may not be the Pirates starting center fielder by August!
In the Pirates farm system is a blue-chip talent in AAA, and his name is Andrew McCutchen. He is the man that is being targeted to be starting in CF by ATLEAST 2009 -- HE will be a legitimate stud. Keep an eye on him.

Who knows. Prospects are hard to read but I'm guessing a good AAA year this year gives McCutchen the job sooner than later. McClouth could catch on as a looper or something thereafter.McCutchen has a lot of raw material but I'm not sure he'll ever develop. He was clearly referring to his bat, center fielders don't need to play defense. Is that thumbs up for the 3 run HR, or not calling for the ball in the bottom of the 9th allowing 2 runs to score to tie the game lol?
Im guessing he only let the ball drop because he wanted to improve on his already stellar batting stats on the evening. Is that thumbs up for the 3 run HR, or not calling for the ball in the bottom of the 9th allowing 2 runs to score to tie the game lol?
Decent opening dayDon't miss the train on the next great outfielder. Get him...at all costs.
McLouth is a better fantasy player than in real life. He brings good speed with decent power; hitting at the top of the order will give him R opportunities. I'd compare him a bit to Eric Byrnes before Byrnes had his career year in 2007.He won't do your AVG any favors and won't provide many RBIs. His biggest downside risk is losing playing time to Nyjer Morgan now or McCutchen later. He's probably better than your bench guys in a 12 team mixed.Texican said:Where would you rank him? Or compare him to who?Just seeing if he would be an upgrade over my bench.
He's a stud. Compare him to Granderson, Crawford, and Sizemore.Texican said:Where would you rank him? Or compare him to who?Just seeing if he would be an upgrade over my bench.

My OF bench is Griffey and Ibanez. Make a move?(My other bench = A.Hill, F.Sanchez, Adam Laroche)McLouth is a better fantasy player than in real life. Definate miscommunication between Bay and McClouth last night, probably was McClouth's fault, he should have called for it. Could have cost Pitt the game.Of course, fantasy wise, who the hell cares. But you can bet that the Pitt manager is looking at it.Who needs defense posting line like that?

McLouth would add some speed to that group. Sanchez and Hill are kind of redundant. My OF bench is Griffey and Ibanez. Who would you rather have? I have Uggla at 2nd, but am just not confident in him. (Thus Hill and Sanchez on my bench)McLouth would add some speed to that group. Sanchez is struggling through problems with his surgically repaired shoulder, I expect these problems to continue which will negatively effect his avg and power. A slight decrease in both of those cats and he is basically un-ownable in any format. I would start McLouth against righties whenever you can, make him prove himself against southpaws before starting him against them though.Who would you rather have?
