NBA BTTF III - Draft Over! War of attrition underway... (1 Viewer)

I don't really follow what WIS is. Is this just an NBA fantasy league?
Its a simulation. We'll draft a team of 15 guys, watch them throughout the season, then once the season is done (probably mid playoffs) we load our top 12 guys into the sim and play 82 games then playoffs.
OK, so no lineups just picking players and then selecting your twelve best performers? Looks like the cost is just $15, so I'll join and get my ### kicked.
When the simulation starts you'll need to set up a lineup / minutes distribution for your team. WIS has some strategy options you can use as well, although I've never found them to have a huge effect.

But yeah, this is not at all a major time drain.

I invited him back last year and he said he wasn't interested. He felt like the teams with early draft picks had too much advantage. As the owner of the #5 pick last year, I can now assure him that's not the case, but I don't know if my lack of basketball GM acumen will be a convincing enough piece of evidence for him to reconsider.
There's a definite advantage to being at the top but you can compete from the bottom.

AOD won the first year from something like 17th or 18th pick. Granted, last year 2nd pick beat 3rd pick in the finals, but No. 16 had last pick and got to the conference finals, and Yo Mama built good teams from both ends of the draft.

If there were $ riding on it that would be one thing, but since it's just for fun I'm not too worried about my draft spot.

My schedule the next couple weeks is not exactly ideal for an online draft, but if you all need one more to round it out you can count me in. I'll make sure someone's got my mobile # so they can nag me about making picks.

That might have been the first baseball one. I think in the first year of this one I had the 6th or 8th pick and took Dwight Howard, but he didn't even end up as my best player. I took a rejuvenated and overlooked Tim Duncan late in round two, so the point still stands. It's obviously a plus to end up with one of the top picks, but I think it's winnable from anywhere with some good insight and good luck.

Yeah, you're right. I looked back and it was 6th pick. I remembered you had Howard/Duncan but for some reason I thought Howard slipped due to injury concerns or something.

Nice! I'll be in San Diego this weekend (Friday-Monday) so hopefully we can start the draft next week and then I'll be heading to Dallas Oct 31. Looks like the draft should be taking place between those two dates.

I bet if we ask around a little bit, we could find a few more guys for this. Tim :gasp: has done this previously, and has been fine with not derailing the draft (and we know he'll be around plenty for the draft), I imagine he would join if invited. I see Ferris around a bit, and he's done one of these basketball drafts with us before, although he may not be willing to be this involved (plus I know at least one person in here that won't want him anywhere near this draft). Tobias helped out moops last year, Juxtatarot and Az Ron did this previously. Cliff did the draft the build a basketball franchise draft (along with some people I don't see around much anymore).

Should we start PMing people to try to fill it up, or just let it run its course for a while longer?
