According to Chris Broussard, the Magic are looking into trading for Camby. Not sure how they could pull that one off. Plus, they have Earl Clark. :bowtie:
I'd like to see the Thunder make this move if possible. The west is wide open and I think they can content with a little help down low. They probably won't though.
The Thunder eventually need to trade to get some big man talent, they should try and dangle Jeff Green and Cole Aldrich (with the contracts of Peterson and Cook possibly) for a legit NBA center. McGee, Okafor, Varajao and Camby could probably all be had for Green, Aldrich and a first rounder or less.
Where do the Thunder sit contract-wise with Green? He's a free agent at the end of this year, correct? He's a great player but he needs to play the three imo. I'm interested to see if he remains part of Presti's plans long-term.
Yep, he is a restricted FA at the end of the year. I would guess he is going to get more money than he deserves in free agency as well. I picture him more as a 6th man that does a little bit of everything on a championship contender than starting 3/4 and I think the Thunder would be smart to trade him for something of more use to them.
Totally agree with the whole sixth man thing. Wish he could take that role with the Thunder with Ibaka starting, but like you said somebody will pay him to start.

Both have hideous contracts, but I am really impressed at Hedo Turkaglu and Rashard Lewis on their new teams. Maybe a change of scenery is all they needed to at least show they could give some values to their teams? SVG just seems to really know how to accent Hedo's strengths, kudos to him as well.

If the Magic could land Camby. Wow. They desperately need a role playing big man, and Camby would be the perfect backup for Howard, and could be that missing piece. Bass and Anderson have their strengths, but they really need another big to play 20-25 minutes a night.

I remember being laughed at for saying LeBron had no help in Cleveland. Good times.
The Heat are on pace to match the Cavs record last year. :confused:So either he still has no help or he has gotten much worse as a player.
You're probably counting the first 15 games when the team was still learning how to play with each other...oops.
So throw them out and maybe they match the win record of the 09 Cavs too?

Everyone on a team has a role. Ferry and company did a good job of filling in a team with role players to surround a superstar. Absent that superstar, they aren't much. You deserved to be laughed at if you said LeBron had no help. Nothing about the 2010-2011 Cavs suggests otherwise.

Agreed. The Heat have much more talent but the Cavs were built to fit around LeBron. It is questionable if the Heat will be a better team in May than the Cavs have been.

LeBron is riding DWade's cape right now - Wade is on fire.
FYI, ESPN analysts were saying earlier today that Lebron is probably the MVP right now...so obviously opinions vary on this one.
Call me crazy, but I think they have him ranked 4th.
Don't shoot the messenger, just pointing out "riding his cape" may be a bit much.
Have you seen Wade's numbers over the last week?

yeah, he's averaging 36 or around there...ppg isn't the end all be all.

:goodposting: Although I think Amare should be 3rd and Deron 4th or 5th.
It's such a wide open race this year. At this point I don't even feel comfortable guessing who will get it. Seems to be at least 10 legit candidates.

It's early. Come April, it will be down to the usual suspects. KD, LeBron, Wade, Kobe, Howard, Paul, and Dirk.

It pretty much is when you're shooting 50%+ from a perimeter position. I'm not dissing LeBron - Wade is just playing out of his mind right now. He's shot over 60% in 8 of the Heat's 15 December games.

LeBron is the best player in the NBA right now as much as it pains me to say that. I cant stand the man but his game speaks for itself there is no way he is riding D-Wade cape. Sure Wade has scored alot lately but its due to Lebron distrubuting the rock so effectively. Kobe has been struggling alot lately but it would be foolish to dismiss him or the Lakers as they have always been able to step up during the playoffs. I can assure that any NBA team in the West would rather face the Spurs or Mavs in the playoffs instead of the Lakers.

Dirk should be the favorite to win MVP. JJ Barea should be the fav for LVP.

And Amare is so overrated, he certainly going to get MVP consideration, but he shouldn't.

Wow, Gortat just came out and blasted the Suns' defense and work ethic last night, and basically called the team's philosophy on offense only stupid. Good for him.

I'm on my phone so I can't quote it, but it's on fanhouse this morning. Good read.

OMG make it stop already - looks like this is going to the deadline....has a rumored deal ever gone one this long? King is being played like a banjo...he's got to start pulling pieces from the deal as it drags on...if no deal buy 1/7/11 - no Favors just picks and expirings......this is awful

"Every indicator seems to be showing that a trade for Carmelo Anthony is NOT imminent. Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post tweeted that there was no truth to the report that a three-team deal involving the Cavaliers almost went down last week. Chris Mannix of SI similarly quotes an "exec on team in Melo chase" as saying Denver is in "no rush".

Al Iannazzone, quoting a "league source", adds that Anthony "isn't expected to change addresses in the near future" and notes that if Denver continues to dawdle into February, it "could get less from the Nets and other teams that have been trying since before the season to make a deal."

The rumor around Denver is that the front office wants to give the team a few weeks with the full roster, which hasn't played one game together yet.

6.8 assists per game for the month. If LeBron is as great as you make him out to be there isn't a need to credit his teammates great play as his own. Wade has put up great numbers with or without Lebron as a teammate.

First of all, it's ridiculously early to be talking about NBA MVP. But if you're going to, anyone who doesn't have Ginobili on their list doesn't deserve to be in the discussion. And secondly, I don't know how you could point to a guy that hand-picked two superstars to play with as the clear-cut MVP. I mean, other than fishing.

I feel like you need to be with the organization longer than a week to make broad proclamations regarding the philosophy of said organization (particularly one coming off of a WCF appearance)

Even if it's really that bad?ETA: not that this is the case, but would you have had the same reaction if someone who was traded from the Patriots to the Cowboys made those remarks?

Thats all well and good but doesnt mean King should accomodate them....King has been following around Melo offering everything.....its time to play hard to get. Maybe Nets wont be there in a few weeks.....maybe Favors will be off the table....I miss Thorn

absolutely. Gortat has historically been a backup player and certainly hasn't earned the right to come in and render judgment after a couple of practices/games. It's not like the Magic have had a great deal more success than the Suns in recent memory, either.

The Magic made the Finals two years ago and came within two games of it last year. That's a pretty good little run, certainly better than the Suns.

And Gortat as a backup, but only because of who he was playing behind. He would start for a lot of teams in the league.

I think it was awesome of him to speak his mind. They just gave up 120 to the hideous Sixers. And he's right when he says that stupid system will never win a title. Good for him for being upfront about it.

I don't think its King making the push for Melo, I think its The Russian MC and he really wants the big name that Melo has. I do agree with you that the Nets need to get the Nuggets a deadline though, this waiting game is surely wearing on the Nets players and its letting the Nuggets completely control the situation.

Any news on KG's knee/leg? He was a huge loss for them 2 years ago, and is a key to what the Celtics do on D. They have more depth this year in the frontcourt than they did 2 years ago, but any long period of time KG might miss would be tough for the Celtics to overcome.

Taking pieces away or adding to the offer means nothing because Melo is the one holding up any deal. Right now he's not convinced to sign an extension with the Nets.

Not according to the Denver media, the word around here is Karl and the front office want to how things work with the entire team healthy and continue to try to convince him to stay.

Suns went to the Western Conference Finals last year with an undermanned team...with this philosophy.Dantoni has turned the Knicks around with this philosophy and even influenced coach K to open up his philosophy as well.

the suns have been to the conference finals three times in the last six years in a much deeper conference. Orlando has really only been good for the last couple of years.also, it doesn't really matter if he has been backing up Howard; you need some street cred to make a statement like that. Is Phoenix really going to see that and say, "woah, Gortat is killing us in the media, we really need to step it up"?

I finally got to King? About time....crap or get off the pot....enjoy the garbage offers Denver (no offense Kev)Ken Berger, who has broken a number of stories on Carmelo Anthony this season, reports Friday that Nets officials are so tired of the "mixed signals" and "indecision" coming out of Denver that they're "'substantively' re-evaluating their pursuit" of Anthony and may simply walk away from trade talks."With trade demands that another executive described as 'too high and unrealistic,' the Nuggets run the risk of alienating the team that from the beginning had the most assets to offer -- starting with Derrick Favors, multiple first-round picks and the expiring contract of Troy Murphy," Berger writes.Nets' officials --presumably Billy King and Bobby Marks-- are increasingly frustrated with the talks and have grown "'sick of the whole charade,' according to one source and have 'backed away,' according to another."How unreasonable? Adrian Wojnarowski reports that in a larger, multi-team deal, the Nuggets want the Nets to give up five first round picks and Devin Harris...without getting a point guard back.
