*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (6 Viewers)

Why were the heat pissed after giving up that dunk? Watching the replay, at no point did they foul any clipper.
because they complain after every play.I dont get why the NBA stopped calling techs on any player reacting after a play like they did last year. Amare got 10+ techs for that stuff, Wade and Bron argue after each shot and never get techs
Says the guy with the Amare avatar ;)

Lol, total meltdown my Miami. Same old Heat, can't finish in playoff intensity games when the pressure is on.
This is why I get annoyed when I hear the talking heads on ESPN call James the MVP frontrunner. He IS a great player, but who cares that he posts massive stat lines against the scrub teams of the league? He just isn't a closer. I thought it was bad luck for a while, but its FACT at this point.

They really do. Its so easy to not like this team. And sadly, its one of the most talented rosters EVER in the NBA. Its almost like they'd rather argue a call while the ball is still in play than get back on defense. I think Spo must go. But as a Bulls fan, I'm fine with Miami keeping him around.

I actually wrote that Amare does that alot but he always got called for it, the Heatles never seem to get called for it. Its laughable how much Lebron thinks he could get away with, there was a clear charge on him at the end of the 4th and he reacted to it as if someone told him Delonte was with his mom again.

In fairness, LeBron's been playing out of his mind prior to tonight. I'm not sure folks realize how efficient he's been for the first 9 games - he's shooting 60%. Absolutely on a level all of his own so far, albeit a small sample size.

Let me preface this by saying that if the MVP vote was held right now, I'd vote LBJ. He's been phenomenal this season thus far. But, HOW THE #### does he have 0 FGA in the 4th quarter last night? In a game against GS that goes to overtime? Let me repeat - ZERO field goal ATTEMPTS. I don't care if he was 0-4, or 0-6, or whatever, sometimes the shots don't fall. But how does he not even take one? That's controllable, and completely unacceptable.
LeBron no showing in the 4th is the norm now. When he actually does something, that will be news. Some guys have it, others don't. Rewatch the 2010 NBA Finals, thats all you need to see.
:goodposting: Artest and Odom won game 7 in the 4th quarter.

 The three hours I spent clicking between Caps-Penguins and Wizards-Bulls might have been the three dullest hours of my life. Being in an MRI tube is more exciting. I think my wife's gonna withhold sex for the next week as punishment for making her sit through that.

What's the history on Corey Brewer? Guy looks like a pretty good player.
Corey Wayne Brewer (born March 5, 1986) is an American professional basketball player who is a small forward and shooting guard for the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for for the University of Florida, where he starred on the Florida Gators teams that won back-to-back NCAA national championships in 2006 and 2007.[1] He was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2007 NCAA tournament.

I turned the game on with 2 mins left and have seen Lebron miss 3 shots, 2 free throws and commit a shooting foul from 3 point range.
It is physically impossible for most NBA players to make two consecutive FTs these days. It's pathetic.
What if I told you free throw percentages were at an all time high?

He was a high draft pick but his inability to hit jump shots or dribble the ball at a junior high level kept him from developing into the player Minnesota drafted him to be. His inability to do these two things was magnified in Minnesota because their management has no idea how to fill a roster so everybody on the entire team plays out of position other than their point guards, so Brewer spent most of his early career playing shooting guard instead of small forward. Overall, hes a much better fit with the Nuggets super energetic second unit than he would be with any team's first unit because it allows him to play aggressively defensively because hes playing fewer minutes(which he does SOOOOOO well) and gets him running a whole lot in the open court where he doesn't have to spot up for jumpers or dribble the ball under pressure (which he may do worse than any wing in the NBA).I think playing him 10-15 minutes a night is perfect for his skill set because it displays his ridiculous athleticism and energy while covering up for his low offensive skill level.

That game was horrifically bad to watch. John Lucas shot 28 times and played 45+ minutes. Because you forced your wife to watch that and another horrible game, I think you should give here orgasms for a month and never receive your orgasms in that period.

That free league pass deal ran out just in time.

That seems like a lot of work. Maybe I'll just watch HGTV with her for a while.I was really impressed with Taj Gibson, though. Crazy that Boozer makes 10X as much money as that guy.

It is unfortunate still that the Bulls need Boozer's offense. Gibson is a complete mess offensively at times. Of course, Boozer is nonexistent offensively every other game this year and for some reason he is taking 4 less shots at the rim this year and replacing them with 18 footers. My hope is that Gibson settles enough on the offensive end to allow the Bulls to amnesty Boozer and sign Taj to a deal to be the starter.

Keep on eye on how Mirotic develops. If he keeps improving, he'll be pegged as the future 4.

Amazing how these guys who are paid millions to play a game can't find the time or skill to learn the basic skills of their job.

Brewer is 6'9" with super long limbs, his coordination is not at the level of an average NBA wing even though his athleticism as a whole is top notch. Some of his inability to handle and shoot the ball may be from a lack of effort (the way his build hasn't changed in his career would support this as well) but I would imagine that no matter how much time he put in he would never been a good offensive player because you can't teach coordination. I think this holds true with most of the piss poor shooters in the NBA, when you are very tall, have huge hands and long limbs its hard to control all that the same way a fairly normal sized guard does.

Maybe so. I'm betting if they called traveling and outlawed dunking most of them could learn.

His skills would fit in wonderfully with Noah, Gibson, and Asik if he develops as it seems he could.

:shrug:I think most of the guys who are terrible shooters would be adequate shooters just from playing in all the games they've played from their childhood on. There is more to somebody like Shaq or Ben Wallace being a 50% FT shooter than not practicing enough.

Right. But my point in mentioning that is I think that, due to financial concerns, they might decide to amnesty Boozer and let one of either Gibson or Asik walk eyeing Mirotic as the future starting 4. Who knows, though. There is plenty of time to see how things develop.

Al Horford out for 3-4 months with a chest injury, which is basically the rest of the season. Huge blow for the Hawks who were off to a pretty good start.

Kwame Brown is out for 3 months, also with a chest injury, which is also basically the rest of the season. Dubs fans have got to be devastated with their star free agent gone.

Two stars, same injury, done for the year.

As a Warrior fan losing Kwame is a big blow. He doesn't add much in terms of help defense or offense, but being able to provide resistance to big men without a double team was huge for the Warriors defense.

I gotta admit I was more in the draft Williams/Knight camp over the Kyrie/XX camp, but Kyrie looks like the real deal so far. Made a sweet behind the back, crossover, spin, up and under layup and pretty much outplayed Nash in the first half. Can shoot the 3, mid range, pass - total package.

Shaq giving props to Bynum.
short synopsis?
Charles Barkley was talking about how Dwight was "Superman" and the best center in the league. Shaq pointed out that he was the original Superman and that Dwight was averafging 18 and 14 and that Bynum was averaging 17 and 14 and that Bynum is the best big man in the league.
oof. I love Big Drew, but I'd take Dwight 8 nights a week.

Yeah, Dwight's value isn't as much in the points and rebounds as it is his defense. For Bynum to be a better player than Howard he would have to have significantly higher averages to make up the difference in defense, even though Bynum is also a very good defender.

Shaq was taking another clumsy slap at Dwight and suggested that Dwight's head isn't in the game with all of the trade rumors. Charles pointed out that if Dwight was already outproducing Bynum even with the distractions that he was even further ahead of Bynum. It seems like Shaq has had a bit of a one-sided fued with Howard for a while but it seems pretty silly to suggest that Bynum is better than Dwight.

Regardless, the fact that it's even a discussion means the idea of a Bynum + cap relief/draft picks for Howard is very realistic. Bynum has a legit claim at being the 2nd best center in the league. You can't crucify Otis Smith for dealing the best center in the league (26 yrs old) for the 2nd best center in the league (24) and picks/relief. Smith would be insane to take Lopez and junk for Howard over a Bynum package.

:goodposting: No one is denying that the guy is a very good player and could very well carry Kobe to a title some day. But he is a complete moron who is made out of flowers and labia.

I don't think I've ever seen anybody who has said they would prefer a Lopez deal over Bynum.

If it comes down to it and Dwight gets moved, I'm sure it will be for Bynum.

Got to watch the Lakers the last two nights - so wifey has the remote tonight. I see by the box score that Dwight has shot 34 FTs. WOW

Im not watching the game, but just checked the box score. Seems like a halfway decent idea when you figure he averages 60ish% from the field and 50ish% from the line. Problem is, you can't employ that game plan and NOT slow down the pace the game. GS has 3-4 guys in serious foul trouble. Its no good when you can't be agressive at crunch time because of foul trouble.

Tonights Line: D. Howard 45 Pts, 23 Reb, 3 Ast, 4 Stl, 2 Blk

39 total free throws for Howard.

I like Dwight as the early MVP candidate.

Dwight Howard was intentionally fouled by the Warriors all night long on Thursday, and ended up breaking Wilt Chamberlain's nearly 50-year old record (34) for free throws attempted in a game with 39.
