*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (13 Viewers)

Are Laker fans really trying to downgrade Lebron after a 22 point, 10 assist night with 0 turnovers in which he was all over the court on defense while taking a 2-1 lead on the #1 seed?Seems logical.
Go back to the 2008, 2009, and 2010 NBA threads and you should realize the inside story here.

:lmao:How many games has Kobe scored more than 20, had 10 assists, no turnovers, and been the best defender on the floor?

Why do you keep bringing up Kobe Bryant? This thread is about the 2010-11 NBA season, guy.

Not sure what any of that has to do with downgrading LeBron James' excellent performance last night and throughout these playoffs.

You may find this hard to believe, but no one around here cares about Lakers fans. We engage Kobe apologists. Get it straight, GB.

It means that they feel like "lakers haters" (as they would deem them) repeatedly downgraded Bryant no matter how good he played in those playoffs, so they are now gonna do the same to James. Pretty easy to figure out. And LOL at the ultimate Laker troll, MRPL, saying Bosh was better last night, but all he does is troll and fish, so that's to be expected.

But hasn't LeBron James been doing all the things that Bryant has been criticized for not doing lately, i.e. passing and playing lockdown defense and being more selective with his shot and coming up big in the final minute? Isn't this kind of like getting mad about people making fun of your wife and deciding to retaliate by pointing out the tiny mole on this woman's upper lip? I mean, sure, she's got a little mole there, but she's still way hotter than your wife.

Pretty much, but some of the the Lakers fans are an angry bunch who felt that their bratty superstar was entitled to another three-peat, and are pissed that, instead of that happening, they got their butts handed to them in a 2nd round sweep by a team that is/was known for underachieving in the playoffs, so you can almost understand their anger and frustration, both of which come out in almost every post they make. It's kind of sad, but not at all surprising.

Its only in the FFA world of bizarre logic that saying Bosh (13-18 FG, 8-10 FT) was the best player yesterday is considered inflammatory trolling.Link

"Bosh spurs Heat by Bulls for 2-1 lead"

The Heat will slam the door tomorrow night. Going to game so I am pretty pumped up.

After hearing all the BS all season long from numerous media naysayers our sqaud are showing what they can do in the most important time of the year. The Heat's defense has been insane. Joel Anthony has been a huge factor in the middle. Udonis, finally making it back is also another factor that has really lifted this teams defensive energy.

The difference in the last 2 games from that dreadful game one has been desire, hustle and will. As long as the Heat match the Bulls defensive intensity we have this series. The Bulls can't score like we can in bunches nor do they have the options we have(hence Bosh really shining this series). They rely on offensive boards and easy put backs. If they are held in check (last night they still out rebounded us) it will be very difficult for them to win. The Bulls are being outclassed. They are a great young team but are still a star short. Rose has to be amazing every night in order for them to have a shot. Lebron has been just flat out great. That myth of him not coming up big in crunch time.....seriously?

The Heat are not even playing their best ball yet.

From Elias: LeBron had 22 points, 10 assists and zero turnovers in Game 3 Sunday against the Bulls. Since turnovers became an official statistic in 1977, he's just the 3rd player to have at least 20 points and 10 assists without turning the ball over in a conference final. He joins Avery Johnson in 1995 and Larry Bird in 1987.LeBron recorded 22 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds and did not turn the ball over. He's just the 6th player in the last 20 years to put register at least 20 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds in the playoffs without a turnover.

Ok, fine. Bosh was the better player last night. Now what? Do you win a prize?

No, Bosh was the better scorer, but James had 8 more assists, no turnovers, and was an absolute beast on defense. By any measure other than just looking at who scored more points, James was the best player on the court last night. It is short-sighted to look at just points scored, instead of their overall games, when saying who was the best player. ESPN headlines are all about the glitzy stuff like points scored, so it's no shock that their headline would be as such. Not taking anything away from Bosh, who WAS great.

The scary thing is, aside from the first half of Game 2, Dwayne Wade has not been that great this series so far.

I still hope the Mavericks win it all.

As a die hard 23 year fan of the Heat it is nice to see he does not have to be majestic every game for us to win. It's a beautiful thing.

Well, think of it this way: if/when Lebron gets his ring this year, Kobe will still have 4 more "Championships as the 2nd best player on the team" then James.

That stat factors "everything" into a single number? Really? Since there is no way of measuring all defensive play into a statistic, I call bull #### on that. It's a nice little number/statistic, but it doesn't tell the whole story.

I wish you guys wouldn't keep putting all of us Laker fans in the same group. LeBron James is the best NBA player on this planet. Kobe is a great player, a top 20 player of all time, but personally I don't think he's ever been as good as LeBron James is right now. Kobe takes too many shots and his shooting percentage is not tremendous. I have him in 5th place on my "greatest Lakers of all time list", behind Magic, Kareem, West, and Shaq.

Yeah I sat through the "Billy Owens is the most talented player we have ever had" BS, The early years of Sylvester Gray, Bimbo Coles (not a bad player) Scott Hastings years. Wow....I can still remember the empty arena for many years. Then we had some nice teams with Steve Smith, Glenn Rice, Grant Long, Sherman Douglas etc...then Harold Miner...LOL.Then the Zo, Hardaway and Mashburn years....heartbreak. I have been with this team thorugh thick and thin. I am loving every minute and moment of this team and will for years to come.

So do you know how Dwyane Wade managed to pay off the refs back in 06?

I did say, "Some of the Lakers fans..." earlier, so I am aware of that distinction between you (who, for all of your faults, will man up and admit when you are obviously wrong), JMon (Kobe Bryant's little brother), Gunz (seems to know a lot, but likes trolling to get reactions out of peeps) and MRPL (Mr. Laker Troll).

Wait, are the Lakers still even in the playoffs? Shouldn't people be discussing the 4 remaining teams? Oh and maybe a thread subtitle update before the Finals would be great. TIA.

Let me clarify. Defensivly we are playing amazing. Offensively (and The Bulls are a big cause of this) we have not taken off yet in this series. Imagine if the big three have one of those nights....it's coming. I think tomorrow night we blow the roof off and really run the Bulls off the court and back to Chicago down 3-1 and desperate. It may not happen till the 4th quarter but it is due to happen in this series for the Heat.

I won't speak for MPL, but hopefully it will shut up the "Bosh is awful" crowd and those who suggest that Bosh's line last night was for "ESPN highlight watchers" while real fans knew LBJ's performance was more impressive.

Saying Wade paid off the refs is completely unfair, but I think most neutral observers acknowledge that there was a lot of fishy stuff going on at the ends of Games 4 and 5 in that series, and Miami got a championship out of it as a result. Hell, even Phil Jackson himself a few months back implied that Mark Cuban's big mouth back then was a reason why things went the way they did in that series. David Stern wasn't gonna let Cuban's Mavs win a title back then if he could help it.

Bosh IS awful. :shrug:Players can have nice games, even stretches of nice games, and that doesn't vindicate them from longer term woes.(Obviously Bosh is a "good" player. He's just not a "great" player and I HATE - absolutely HATE - that he behaves like he is one. If the guy were the least bit humble, I'd probably be cheering for the Heat because I love watching good basketball. But Bosh is such a punchbowl-turd that it makes it impossible.)

Thank you for being reasonable and rational.

The Bulls really need to find themselves a multi-dimensional 2. The Heat are abusing Brewer's offense and Korver's defense. That Boozer contract is going to hurt them in their championship bids.

Depends on your definition of "great". Bosh just turned 27 and has been to 6 straight All Star games. His career PER is 45th best in NBA history. He's basically Pau Gasol, and I'd argue that most have argued that Pau is a "great" player the past few years.

The problem is there doesn't seem to be a good one available. Depending on the new CBA, maybe they have a shot a player like Jason Richardson, J.R. Smith, or O.J. Mayo but it is questionable whether any of these guys would be a good fit. Talent-wise Smith or Mayo would be fine but they are headcases. Maybe something will appear around the trading deadline.

As a Bulls fan, these last few games have been pretty terrible. At this point I think I just want the misery over as soon as possible.

He was great last night but throughout the year he has had no killer instinct and has played very soft. If he continues to be aggressive, I'll gladly eat my words but to all of a sudden say he is awesome after one game may be stretching it a bit. Also, when I say he is terrible, obviously that is a lot of hyperbole but to watch a guy get paid top dollar to sit by and watch while twiddling his thumbs is pretty infuriating.

I noticed them making some really bad decisions on D last night. When they went zone I noticed Gibson would double down on Haslem, meanwhile James was picking apart the single coverage on the outside - either the coaches or Gibson were really screwing up there. Similar things happened throughout. They need to get back to forcing the Heat to do their damage from outside instead of inviting James to penetrate. If the Heat hit all their shots from 18 and out, what can you do. Also someone needs to help Rose out on offense. Probably needs to be Deng, with Boozer chipping in from the elbow. At the end it looked like Rose really didn't believe anyone else on his team would hit a shot and he was passing as a last resort.

 I'm not saying Bosh is "great" due to yesterday's game. I'm pointing to 7 seasons of data that suggest he's great.

James is the difference in this series if it isn't obvious. Deng needs to score for the Bulls to be successful on most nights and he is playing against maybe the best perimeter defender in the league right now who always is in the game against him.I am not ready to count the Bulls out. IMO they are hurting themselves tremendously so the room for improvement to take a few games is there. That said, the Heat defense is all over the place and probably is the reason the Bulls are making silly mistakes even on the defensive end.

Mayo would be a great add for the Bulls. I'm not sure I'd roll the dice with Smith - too much risk IMO.

I agree with this. James' defense is absolutely dominant.

The Heat have turned D Rose into Brandon Jennings the past 2 games. A quick guy who doesn't seem to be able to get many quality shots. Have to imagine D Rose will find a way to turn this around.
