*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (7 Viewers)

Greg Popovich decided to rest his guys last night and concede when losing big at the start if the 4th. Coach Spo decided to work his guys until the end of the game, they made it look close but I have to wonder if you don't just rest those guys especially Wade.
No. I like what Spo did.And he found something with that small lineup.

I can't help but wonder if you take away James and Wade, could the Heat beat the Bobcats? Every time Mike Miller runs into the game he looks so broken down I think he's going to fall over before he gets on the court.
Mmmm I wonder if you took away Kobe and Bynum, I wonder if you took away Durant and Westbrook. Are you ####### kidding me with this shlock?
No kidding. Don't be so sensitive. It's a comment on how bad the Bobcats are. But yeah I'd take the rest of the Thunder or Laker rosters over the Heat minus those two.
Everyone under estimates the Heat's role players. Chalmers is having a heck of a post season. Let's not forget about Bosh. Haslem is a fine defensive player, and Mike Miller...although hobbled...continues to hit big shots, rebound, scrap for loose balls. But yeah...they don't have the strongest role players. But you win with stars.
Most times you do, and they have the top guy and another who is top 5-10 no doubt. The NBA is where one player changes a franchise. The fact is though with Lebron, Wade, and especially when Bosh is healthy, you could fill out their starting 5 with D-league players and they are a top 4 seed in the East. Miami's best combination is likely finding a way at some point to move Bosh's contract to get better complementary guys. It will be interesting to see the contrast in philosophies if/when they play the Spurs. The group versus the 2-3 superstars.
Duncan and Parker are clear star players to me though. Yes the Spurs have a lot more role players and are a better rounded team. No doubt.
This isn't 10 years ago, Duncan isn't that in reality anymore. I don't see Parker being on Wade's level either. The Spurs is more of an internal build versus Miami being the destination those 3 collected in together to try to win. It's been great for Miami, but it's the benefit of the city being the draw, not some great drafting/development.

Meantime we can't hit FT's.....
Which position do you play?
Seriously? How many times are people going to get called out when you use the word "we" to describe your hometown team.Sheesh man.
as long as people keep doing it probably. it's silly.
Might as well use "I" as well when describing who scored...
I just dunked on LeBron James! :pickle:

Oh I see. Chalmers was drafted, Udonis was a FA. Joel Anthony Norris Cole (who has shown a lot of promise). We drafted Wade. Huge score. Because high draft picks have been blown many times by many teams.Riley goes after players too.....I love that. San Antonio though did one hell of a job putting together this team through the draft. I can't deny that. Two different teams....and yeah, it would be a great series. With a healthy Bosh it is a 7 game series. Without him.....it's going to be maybe too much....but Wade and Lebron are that special that they could pull it off.Time will tell either way.

Yep, Miami drafted Wade. Chalmers is a nice player. But the success of the team isn't built on the draft/development model. They sold Bosh and then subsequently Lebron on coming there. It was a huge coup for Riley. I do agree with you even with just Lebron and Wade and not Bosh it's no guarantee the Spurs would win. Lebron and Wade are the type that could pull it off. If they do, it will be everlasting proof of how great they are because the Spurs clearly will have the next best 5 guys on the floor at any given point if Bosh doesn't play. The majority are pulling for most anyone other than the Heat though because of how they feel about the way the Lebron "decision" went down.

Man the we/I thing is stupid. If you're a huge fan and your money goes to supporting the team...why the #### does anyone care if you say we? Isn't that beyond even the normal overdone FFA ####### shtick?

Lowry isn't an upgrade over Chalmers. Put Chalmers on a crappy team, he's putting up those numbers too.

Dalembert isn't a trade asset.

Scola's a replacement level PF.

Have fun losing your best player in free agency.

Three months ago people were saying Lowry was a top 10 PG.

Just awful posting. Re: dal - remember you said that when the spurs interior destroys all pros Joel Anthony and udonis Haslem in the next round. Re: scola - scarily similar stats to Bosh as the third option (like bosh). Re: Lowry - chalmers his equal? :lmao: you're killing me....Our best player is chandler parsons. If you are referring to dragic you may be right that he leaves. And as much a that will disappoint it isn't like he's going to be the difference in Houston winning a title anytime soon. P.s. chalmers = Lowry. :lmao: again.

Scola is pretty much only capable of being a 3rd option, while Bosh could be a serviceable 1st option or excellent 2nd option.

Thunder with a 7 point lead nearing halftime with Durant scoreless. Either of these teams will cream the team that comes out of the east.
So now it's a game of "my-bench-is-better-than-yours"? Crimeny! SA needs to figure out a combination on the floor that works. Something to build on otherwise the momentum will be swinging completely back to OKC headed back home.

Pop needs to bench Green. He's just gone cold. I know he likes Jax and Manu in the 2nd unit but either guy has the ability to hit those shots.

Does Scott Brooks strike anyone else as pretty mediocre?
Let me expand on that:Their offense looks very stagnant at times, despite having immense talent with Durant/Westbrook/Harden all capable of scoring and creating. Their defense also seems average, despite having Ibaka/Sefalosha and Perkins who some claim is one of the best position defenders (not sure I see this, but anyways). Then you have the moves like playing both Ibaka & Perkins against Duncan & Diaw for two games, and the unexplainable amount of time on the floor that Derek Fisher gets. It took him until game 3 to really unleash Sefalosha as well. Just seems like they should have more of an identiy than "really talented".

Well, at least SA made it something of a game in the second half. Can't do much about Durant going lights out but they did find some things that I think can carry over to the next game. Blair needs to play important minutes the rest of the way and Matt Bonner's ### should never leave the bench again.

Home court advantage is looking like the Spurs' biggest positive factor at this point. This one is going seven for sure.

he's fine for the regular season action but he's always seemed to lose his nerve in the playoffs.

Long history of playoff suckage. Pop's willingness to give him chance after chance is probably his biggest flaw as a coach over the past few years. The Spurs were rolling in the first until Bonner stepped on the court, and never regained their groove after that.

they figured out something offensively for sure. however, they weren't able to get the stops down the stretch. durant took over down the stretch but ibaka kept them in front with some timely shooting throughout the game. pretty much any coach in the league would be happy to have ibaka shooting 15+ ft away from the basket but, to his credit, he made them over and over again. it kept the momentum with the Thunder until Durant's arrival.

Ibaka and Perkins killed them tonight. Spurs have to think/hope OKC doesn't get that kind of role player production on the road.
