Word in L.A. is that the Lakers are satisfied by what they've seen or been told that he'll be fine. Local media, though, are questioning why they feel that way. Back surgery is a big deal, obviously. Is no one concerned that Dwight Howards injury could be very serious or chronic? Anyword on when he will be ready to play?
Love the signing, great energy guy off the bench, but as currently constructed I have no idea where his minutes are going to come from.Right now:Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Jordan Hill has reached agreement on a two-year, nearly $8 million deal with the Lakers, his agent Kevin Bradbury tells Y! Sports.
Not happening. No chance.I'm telling you - the deal is done and gasol, Bynum, and Howard are all moving.EtaMartin and Bynum to Orlando Hedo and gasol to HoustonHoward and the other junk contracts to lal. Various picks and extra players to make the salaries work.
Which part? The part where the lakers get Dwight Howard? Or the part where they give up their center who is leaving this summer and their soft power forward? Not happening. Doesn't make sense. Something is up. Hill turned down more money and more minutes from Minnesota.Jesus. Jordan Hill just got an 8 million dollar, 2 year contract? 10 minutes a game of high energy effort is worth that much?
You think so, professor? I'm telling you - a deal is done. All that is holding it up is the Asik contract going through. The rockets let lee go because they are picking up another sg. Steven Seagal? After you descend into self-parody, and then you descend even further, what is that called?
One of the show's funniest moments goes to one of the month's funniest moments — Mark Cuban missing Deron Williams's visit to Dallas for the Mavericks' big "Here's why you should play for us, Deron" pitch. Why? Because Cuban was in Los Angeles taping that week's episode of Shark Tank. Does anyone else keep picturing this exchange?Williams: "So why isn't Mark here? Is he running late?"(Donnie Nelson and Rick Carlisle glance at each other nervously.)Jeff Schwartz (Williams's agent): "Shouldn't we wait for him?"Nelson (finally): "Mark can't make it today."Schwartz: "What happened? Family emergency or something?"(Nelson and Carlisle glance at each other nervously again.)Williams: "Is everything all right?"Carlisle (finally): "Have you ever seen the show he's on, Shark Tank?(Williams and Schwartz look at him blankly.)Carlisle: "Well … "Anyway, you're not gonna believe this, but Williams ended up re-signing with Brooklyn. Normally I'd have more barbs here … but I actually enjoy Shark Tank. I fully support Cuban's decision to throw away Dallas's 2012 title defense to create enough cap space to potentially sign a marquee free agent like Williams, then to miss THE crucial pitch meeting with Williams because he was contractually obligated to tape a reality-TV show. I care more about Shark Tank than the fate of the Mavericks. If I rooted for the Mavericks? I might not be as happy.

So in other words the Rockets are sending crap in return for the premier center in the game. Lopez, Brooks and a bunch of future draft picks is better than the Rockets offerThe Rockets, according to a league source briefed on the discussions, are willing to take one bad contract back from the Magic, not two or three, as has been speculated. And in return, Houston will give up one of the their three first-round picks in last month’s Draft– Jeremy Lamb, Royce White or Terrence Jones –but only one.The Rockets would be willing to send a future draft pick to Orlando and send a veteran player to the Magic, helping Orlando clear $10 to $15 million worth of cap room, in exchange for the six-time All-Star and three-time Defensive Player of the Year

From the sound of it, all ORL wants is crap. They've made it clear they don't want quality players. I'm sure they'd like nice draft picks, but it's hard to get good draft picks from a team acquiring Dwight Howard. If they don't want Bynum, there's no way this deal "looks" great for ORL from a talent-swap perspective. They are trying to unload a year's worth of a premier center, along with bad contracts. There's no reason to expect they'd get a lot.So in other words the Rockets are sending crap in return for the premier center in the game. What's the dream haul for Howard? (one that's somewhat realistic, of course)It doesn't seem like there is a great answer to that question, which is why I'm not sure it makes sense to trade him at all.Yup. The Magic have assembled some horrific contracts. I think since they know there is a 0% shot of Howard re-signing, the best thing for them to do is start from scratch (although the foolish contract they gave to Jameer Nelson is a little head scratching). So more than getting 12 mid to late first rounders, they probably want a team to absorb most of their bad contracts, and in return get a couple firsts and a couple expirings. But those contracts have to go.What's the dream haul for Howard? Why? They are going to have to spend enough to get back up to the salary minimum anyway - If they dump ALL of their bad contracts they are just going to have to replace them with equally bad deals. Doesn't sound like there is going to be a marquee, franchise changing free agent next offseason that would be willing to sign win Orlando to make all these salary cap shenanigans worthwhile. The Magic have assembled some horrific contracts. The contracts the Magic take back would be high priced expiring deals instead of long term horrible deals. FWIW, the All-Summer-League team included Bradley Beal and Jeremy Lamb but not Thomas Robinson, Austin Rivers, Dion Waiters, or Harrison Barnes.
Looked pretty raw in summer league. He definitely has some plus skills but I wouldn't expect him to seriously challenge for ROY.T-Rob is my dark horse for Rookie of the YearDamian Lillard named co-MVP of the Vegas Summer League (along with Josh Selby of the Grizzlies).

WHO GUARDS DONUTS!!!?!?!?!?!?!Maybe its just cause I'm a homer, but I think the Nuggets are going to be very improved this upcoming year.PG - Lawson/A Miller/StoneSG - Afflalo/Jordan Hamilton/Brewer/FournierSF - Gallinari/Chandler/BrewerPF - Faried/Harrington/RandolphC - McGee/Koufos/MozgovFour of their five starters should be improved (all but Afflalo, I think he has just about his his ceiling) and they basically added Chandler after him playing most the season in China then getting hurt. The only two losses from last years team are Chris Andersen who isn't as good as any of the 6 bigs on the roster and Rudy Fernandez who isn't very good plus he was hurt most of last year anyway. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see this team win 52-55 games next year plus they have enough extra picks and enough young cheap talent that they could make a trade to upgrade one of their non-Ty Lawson positions.
this is the kind of team that Karl does really well with, i think. they won't win the division but could vie for homecourt in a R1 series.Maybe its just cause I'm a homer, but I think the Nuggets are going to be very improved this upcoming year.PG - Lawson/A Miller/StoneSG - Afflalo/Jordan Hamilton/Brewer/FournierSF - Gallinari/Chandler/BrewerPF - Faried/Harrington/RandolphC - McGee/Koufos/MozgovFour of their five starters should be improved (all but Afflalo, I think he has just about his his ceiling) and they basically added Chandler after him playing most the season in China then getting hurt. I disagree - I dont think Orlando hd any intention to trade Howard to the Nets...I dont think the #6 would have made them pull the trigger...from what I heard they didnt like Lopez either. I still think it was an awful deal but King and DWill essentially admit that it was done to keep him so I cant kill it any more. What sucks is that if the Nets werent complete morons last year, they for SURE would have been able to swing the #6 pick, Lopez and Brooks for Howard by now damn Billy Freaking King
