*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (14 Viewers)

Rondo torn ACL. Done for the season. :(

Barbosa time?
Blow up the team time probably
The market is so limited when it comes to older players on large contracts. Particularly these days. They probably will have to ride things out.
Pierce only has 5 million guaranteed next year. Garnett is only making 12 million for the next 2 years.

If Ainge wants to blow it up, those guys can fairly easily be moved. Not sure how much you would get for them though.
That's kind of my point. Sure, they could trade them but I don't see the Celtics being able to get back key pieces for their future.
What future? The Celtics are now in full on rebuilding mode for the next 3-5 years. Danny needs to dump salary, get awful and lucky in the lottery the next two years. Just a catastrophic injury.
Rondo didn't die. He'll be back next year.
We'll see. How is Ricky Rubio playing this season?

So 21 points (8 of 12 shooting), 14 assists, 9 rebounds and holds Westbrook to 17 points on 6 of 22 shooting to beat the top team in the conference. Can't wait to see Clavin's negative spin on that one.

Kobe is validating what myself and most other in this thread have said about him. Too bad for the Lakers that it took half a season for him to realize that being a selfish chucker wasn't going to win many games.

Dwight only got 7 shots, though. Kobe still being selfish.

:goodposting: Kobe still took twice as many shots as Dwight did. When is he going to learn how to pass?

For someone who spends a lot of time following basketball, you really have no clue about how the game is played.

:lmao:Spot on assessment and you have to be a jag about it.Kobe's even been quoted as deciding to 'force the game upon my teammates'

Is that how you would describe it when someone makes irrational points just to be confrontational?

Why do you feel the need to be confrontational? Is it that time of the month?

Does LHUCKS call others out for a propensity to make irrational points solely with the intention of being confrontational?

I can't wait for the Lakers to limp into the 8 spot and for all the Lakers fans in here to say "See, told you so!" right before they get swept from the playoffs. Its amazing to me that the Lakers have been awful this entire year, Kobe is shooting as often as any player in the NBA with 3 perennial all-stars/future HOFers beside him and all the Kobe/Lakers fans in here are defending it, suddenly he decides to pass that ball for two games in a row and they win. What do you hear from those same Kobe/Lakers fans? See guys, Kobe isn't selfish, this just shows that he's still carrying this team and its everybody else that's underachieving. These last two Lakers wins are all the proof you should need to see that its Kobe that is bringing this ship down. He makes a VERY conscious effort to not try to shoot the team into games and pass the ball around a little while actually trying on defense and they beat two good teams. Weird.

So you're saying that one of the consensus top 10 players in the history of the game with 5 championship rings at age 34 has been intentionally sabotaging the season in order to score a few more points?Does that make any sense whatsoever?

Last year, with Gasol and Bynum playing well offensively, Kobe shot the Lakers out of many games. Maybe Nash is having an influence on him. Kobe is definitely shooting less jumpers - he didn't have any 3-pt attempts today or against the Jazz. When has that happened 2 games in a row?

No, I'm saying Kobe Bryant has too big of an ego to know any better. He certainly hasn't been making an effort not to shoot too much, hes a half shot a game behind Melo for the NBA lead.

Hes shot a little more at the hoop this year and he's traded some of the long twos for threes. Kobe has definitely taken advantage of the extra attention his teammates have gotten this year for some better looks.

Guy does have a monster ego, there is no arguing that. And I've never suggested that Kobe doesn't take a few too many shots at times. But it's also important to realize that the guys he's playing with are almost all pass first guys, who are not agressive offensively and don't look for their own shot when they get the ball unless they are absolutely wide open. I can't tell you how often the ball is moved around, and a slight hesistation by any of those guys when they catch it leads to the ball being kicked back out to the perimeter, reversed to Kobe for an iso with 10-12 seconds on the shot clock.

Exactly. Every negative situation Kobe has contributed to has been a result of his ego. There is no question his #1 goal is to win games. It just seems as though he needs to learn that he needs his teammates involved over and over again. Jordan learned it once in his 20's. Kobe needs to learn it every few years or so. When he has played like he knows, there a few that have ever been better players to win a title.

I don't think Jordan every really figured it out either, he was just as shot happy and adverse to passing early in his career as he was late in his career. Many of the faults that Kobe has, Jordan had throughout his career as well. The difference is, Jordan was a significantly better talent.

The guy has been in the NBA Finals 7 times in 16 seasons. The idea that guys on a football message board know more about basketball than one of the 5-10 greatest to ever lace'm up is ridiculous.

It will be interesting to see who takes Rondo's spot on the All-Star team. They might end up replacing a PG with a C and let Brook in. It's not like the East needs a lot of PGs in the game -- LeBron and Melo will dominate the ball regardless.

Lopez deserves it but they have that 2 backcourt starters and 3 front court starters with 2 backcourt reserves, 3 front court reserves and 2 wild cards requirement. I'm almost certain that they'll replace Rondo with another guard because of the 11 guys on the AS roster other than Rondo, 8 are front court players. Its too bad though because Lopez really deserves it none of the guards deserve it at all. My guess is they throw Deron Williams in there.

I thought they had to have a certain number of backcourt guys and frontcourt guys..? Lopez deserves it for sure but I won't be the least bit surprised if they put in Derron (who is not deserving).

Holiday should get Rondo's starting spot and Lopez should be added to the team.

Two of the bench spots are wild cards so I think they can pretty much add whoever they want.

Twice as many is a significant reduction my friend.

It will be interesting to see who takes Rondo's spot on the All-Star team. They might end up replacing a PG with a C and let Brook in. It's not like the East needs a lot of PGs in the game -- LeBron and Melo will dominate the ball regardless.
I thought they had to have a certain number of backcourt guys and frontcourt guys..? Lopez deserves it for sure but I won't be the least bit surprised if they put in Derron (who is not deserving).
Two of the bench spots are wild cards so I think they can pretty much add whoever they want.
If they put in Lopez then they only have 3 backcourt players for the entire roster.

I haven't watch the bobcats play a lick, I'm wondering how kidd Gilchrist has looked so far and if he is developing well or turning into a bust like Derrick Williams

No, I'm saying Kobe Bryant has too big of an ego to know any better. He certainly hasn't been making an effort not to shoot too much, hes a half shot a game behind Melo for the NBA lead.
Those guys have also spent long stretches of time either not playing due to injury or playing hurt. No question Kobe's a ball hog, but there have been many occasions this year where he really didn't have much choice as the other guys weren't able to get it going. Let's also not forget the 2 coaches they've had this year haven't exactly been working miracles with their approach to utilizing the talent on the team (up to now). Their "offensive schemes" have left the team mostly confused, resulting in unwanted low shot clock chucking, not only by Bryant but by World Peace as well. This year Kobe's been hoisting because things just haven't been working as much as things haven't been working because Kobe's been hoisting.I much prefer the way they've played the last 2 games. Hopefully those are a new direction for the team and not anomalies. We'll see.

So 21 points (8 of 12 shooting), 14 assists, 9 rebounds and holds Westbrook to 17 points on 6 of 22 shooting to beat the top team in the conference. Can't wait to see Clavin's negative spin on that one.
A Rondo-less Boston about to beat the Heat.
Just a reminder to irrationally exuberant fans ... the Wizards have home wins against the Heat and the Thunder on their resume this year. Let me know when you hear the media start talking about the Wiz surging to a playoff spot and/or showing tremendous heart and character.

3 different articles (ESPN, CBS, Sun) out there about Celtics going after Lowry. Not sure that is going to work out. Boston doesn't have much in the way of young talent. Boston is also the team Toronto needs to catch if they hope to make the playoffs. And then giving up a 1st round pick in the summer to get Lowry means you gotta get something at least equal to that or you're gonna look pretty bad.

Hmmm...To Boston: LowryTo Toronto: GasolTo LA: Bargnani, TerryOr same deal just swapping Gasol for Gay. Definitely good for Boston and Toronto. Not so sure about LA and Memphis.

That isn't a good deal for LAL. Terry is basically worthless at this point. Bargnani would probably improve with a change of scenery so maybe it would help LAL, but Gasol is one of the better big men in the league (regardless of his big contract).

Very true. Maybe a pick or two from Boston to sweeten the deal a bit.
