*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (6 Viewers)

Does the NBA manufacture a presence on reddit that the other major sports don't? Or is NBA just a more global sport that drives attention.

Whatever the case the NBA is sitting pretty.

Fired up for tonight. My predictions:

MVP - Durant (LEbron Fatigue sets in)

Scoring title - Durant - 33 or 34ppg.

DPOY - James

WCF - Houston vs. SAS

ECF - Chicago vs. Miami

Finals: Miami over SAS

(Lebron re-signs with Miami)

Didn't take long for Beverley to win the starting job.
:hifive:
Can't wait for the 'Lin is the best backup PG' campaign.
He's not?
He's not.
If we assume Bledsoe isn't backing up Dragic but rather playing next to him, I would wonder what this list would look like.

Best backup PGs

1. Avery Bradley

2. Jarrett Jack

3. Andre Miller

4. Isaiah Thomas

5. Darren Collison (?)

6. Mo Williams

I draw the line somewhere between Thomas and Collison, and I'm granting old man Miller a LOT of credit. So Lin is probably backup PG #3 or 4, right?

Sounds about right.

Someone should bump the Lin thread from the peak Linsanity era for some laughs.

You forgot: Harris, Hinrich, Bayless, Cole, Barea and Udrih.

I'd also have him behind all the guys you listed.

Since I'm that bored today...

Lin is actually a decent to above average defender I think.

but I question anyone who thinks Lin will "settle in as a bottom tier PG for the remainder of his career" if they've actually seen him play.
One of my favourites and probably the biggest moron in that thread:

:lmao: You're looking more foolish with every game Lin plays and every post you make. 6-0 with Lin. He's scored the most points IN NBA HISTORY after five starts. He wants the ball with time running out and the game on the line. Your hater-act is cute. But it's sure making you look like you never really watched or played basketball before.
JuniorNB said:
I'd put him only behind Parker and Wall in that second group. I guess that makes him #8. You're right, my counting was wrong. 8 isn't between 5-7. Still not bad for a total unknown who went undrafted.

And people getting on a couple posters in here for hating on Lin, just wait until Derek Rose fanboys come to the realization that this will be the last year Rose starts an nba allstar game for however many years Lin is the starting PG for the Knicks. You haven't seen anything yet, lol.
Pretty dumb throughout the thread:

Pretty bad 1st half with 8 turnovers to then only commit 1 in the 2nd half and finished with 26pts 5 assist and 4 steals. Anybody that still thinks he can't play are dead wrong.
And a whole lot of Linsaniac's calling me and Tobias haters and idiots

I would be very surprised if he is much better than guys like Teague, Holiday, Conley etc who are little more than average.

They are both giving you below average production. Give me the veteran guy that'll play a little D and not have a negative win share in the playoffs ;)

Thomas would be in that Jack range if he played on a better team. He's going to have a moment or two in the playoffs for someone at some point.

Why can't we have a frackin' new thread? Tired of this 1150 pages of garbage. Get a fresh one for 2013/2014 Dribbles.
I agree. Each season should have a new thread.

The NBA on TNT is back in 5 minutes!!! LOVE Charles, Jet, Shaq, and Ernie! They are hilarious and the most entertaining group of broadcasters on air! They just gel! Watching them on HLN live getting set up!

Anyone catch Charles Barkley on Letterman last night?? Letterman says we are all tired of the Kobe Bryant saga. CB says don't have to worry about it this year, Lakers aren't going to be any good this year so no need to talk about the Lakers or Kobe Bryant at all. He's just such a funny dude! Apparently there's this player who is "the next Le Bron" that everyone is going to want to get so he thinks many teams like the Lakers are going to tank so they have a shot at him.

Bulls vs Heat then Lakers vs Clippers. First though will be the ring ceremony for the Heat! :pickle:

Last night was Christmas Eve for me, love the beginning of the NBA season.

My very early predictions for the season (obvious is to choose any team that includes LeBron, but I'm going to be contrarian):

West
1. Clippers (depth and Doc allow for excellent regular season)
2. Spurs (consumate pro organization, Leonard emerges as front line guy)
3. Rockets (very dangerous if perimeter guys all pan out - Parsons/Casspi/Garcia)
4. Grizzlies (still good, but transitioning a bit as ZBo ages)
5. OKC (will struggle without Westbrook, but experience helps young guys)
6. GSW (Most fun team to watch in the league)
7. New Orleans (Davis about to become a star, added lots of talent)
8. TWolves (Love and Rubio healthy for full season)

OKC vs. Spurs in West Finals, with OKC prevailing (Durant/Westbrook/Ibaka on a mission, and young guys contribute just enough to get past the Spurs)

East
1. Bulls (Thibs will drive this team hard - Rose back and Butler emerged)
2. Heat (biding time until playoffs)
3. Pacers (very solid team, can they be elite?)
4. Nets (who knows how this plays out)
5. Knicks (not enough horses to get into top 4)
6. Cleveland (youth matures and becomes playoff team)
7. Atlanta (solid group, bottom of East is poor)
8. Washington (best of the remaining mediocre to terrible East teams)

Bulls vs. Heat in East Finals, Bulls win (Heat just worn down after 3 seasons of deep runs)

OKC vs. Bulls, with Bulls edging them in 7 (OKC weakness in the middle and lack of depth is their undoing)

Typical Bulls and Heat game.

Physical.....ugly and will come down to the 4th quarter.

Nice to see Derrick Rose back.....now Bulls fans can't cry with that excuse when they get rolled out again in the post season by The Heat.

Bradley had a .461 TS% and a single digit PER, he might be a stud defensively but he is lost on the offensive end. I would probably put Lin right with THomas, Miller and Jack for battle of the best backup PG. Collison was benched for Mike James, so he doesn't belong on this list. I also think Ridnour deserves to be mentioned.

I know this is Rose's first game back, but he looks really bad. Getting crossed over like he did by Cole earlier in the quarter was embarrasing.
