*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (4 Viewers)

Andrew Bynum will be released by the Cavs before his contract is guaranteed, according to Sam Amico of FOX Sports.

The deadline is Jan. 7 for the team to save some money and the report certainly makes sense. Bynum has been suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team, so he's likely done playing in Cleveland. It's hard to imagine any team making a major commitment to him at this point, making it tough for fantasy owners to stash him. He is incapable of playing big minutes and it should be interesting to see if any teams take a chance on him.

Someone will give a chance based on his name if he wants to continue playing. Based on his effort and physical shape, that's questionable.
The mavs wanted him and still need interior help.

I don't think Miami would have interest. They've committed to Oden (who seems to have the desire to want to play)

The guy looks completely uninterested on the court. And anyone that goes back and sees his play this year will conclude that. He's already burned bridges with 2 teams in the span of a year.

I'm sure a team like Dallas/Atlanta may take a shot.

Don't know why they wouldn't have interest. You can't expect anything from Oden and they're still pathetic at C. Sign Bynum for the min and if it doesn't work, cut him. Doesn't cost them anything but a merger salary. Worked out well so far for Beasley who also burnt some bridges and had attitude issues.

I don't think Bynum would play for the minimum. The guy wouldn't play for the $6 million he earned this year....

I see a guy that's lost his desire to play. And I'm fairly certain the 'conduct detrimental to the team' is a direct result of that. If someone throws him some money, I'm sure he'll go through the motions with them too.

Everytime I saw him play this year, I saw Eddy Curry 2.0. He'll show up again. I just think his name greatly outweighs his game right now. His physical conditioning would be a bigger story IMO had he not been on the same team as Anthony Bennett.

He was cleared to practice 2.5 months ago & played in preseason game thereafter.

Heat are bringing him along slowly as planned. He's suffered no setbacks to date. Hoping to get some meaningful PT out of him come playoffs to provide some resistance against Hibbert.

Kobe first in WC backcourt balloting, Lillard 8th. Neat.

Can we stop letting China vote on this ####? Maybe have their votes count for .1 of a vote or something? I'm surprised Yao's still not in there.

Another OT for the Hawks - it's been noticeable without Horford - Bobcats have controlled the paint (or seems that way). Hawks shooting a lot of 3's.

Hawks pull it out in OT - with Horford out I wouldn't mind seeing what Bynum could give them. They still aren't bad enough to tank without trading Millsap and maybe Korver?? I'd rather see if they can still get the 3 seed and hope that Brooklyn continues to suck.

No Lebron, Wade had a subpar game, but the Heat beats Portland on a last second 3-pointer by Chris Bosh who had 37 points and 10 rebounds while defending Aldridge most of the time. Bosh even over-ruled coach Spo while drawing up the game winner. Bosh has sacrificed much of his his game to be in Miami - to compliment James and Wade. Where is Skip Bayless?

Coach Spo may be an under-rated coach. We may find out in 2014.

I went to the kIngs-heat game a couple of nights ago, and came away really impressed with how the Heat can still be competitive while resting big chunks of their roster. I mean, Beasley is playing huge crunch time minutes for these guys. I know everyone wants to think he's redeemed because he plays on the heat, but he still sucks. Bosh does a ton of little things on the court that contribute beyond the box score.

Am I missing something with Bynum? He must be the most overhyped player ever.
He was a good player at a time with the Lakers. In the moments he was healthy, there's no arguing he was one of the best centers in the game.

He's been terrible this year & looked completely uninterested in playing. I agree with the Cavs waiving him. I have a hard time believing his effort would be better playing for a minimum contract & wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play again this year. Maybe he decides eventually to ride the pine & collect a paycheck elsewhere. I thought the Cavs were giving him more minutes than he deserved.

Holy hell are the Knicks terrible. Just a disaster of a team. Their current 3 game losing streak looks like it is going to end up being a minimum of 8 games.

Good thing they are getting so much out of Frelton!

Does Denver have their pick this year? And their own?

Denver gets their choice of NY's pick or their own. The worse of the two picks gets sent to Orlando.

ETA: I bet Dolan is irate that Lowry just averaged 24/6/11 against them in the last two days.

2 officials were looking right at it as the guy on the baseline was staring at them too. I also thought that one of the reffing rules was if the defender slaps down and the ball continues to go up into the air, the defender got all arm.

Lowe throws out a Ross + for Afflalo rumour. Pretty interesting. Decent young asset for Orlando and helps them tank a bunch this season. Gives Toronto some more fire power and would probably turn them into a heavy favourite for 3 seed.

Uriji has a hell of a decision on his plate. Had he got rid of Lowry right away, tanking would have been very easy/palatable. With the way they are playing now, with how open a high seed in the east is, and how tough it would be to get a top pick this year, tanking almost seems to be out the window.

:lmao: at 4 wins separating potential 3 seed favorite from tank city. :

Hawks in similar boat. I will say that Toronto could be 5 games under .500 in a week (tough 4 game stretch coming up) and it makes it even harder to know what they should do.
