With Basketball Prospectus losing its writers to ESPN, what sites do yall go to for good basketball writing and information?

Basketball Reference is good for looking stuff up, Grantland's stuff by Lowe and Goldsberry is top of my list, but I want more. Any of you pay for ESPN Insider and find that worth it?

Assuming Mitch pulls the trigger on the Pau/Bynum dump trade (no brainer, IMO), the Lakers should be a virtual lock for a top 3-5 pick.

A healthy Kobe, a max offseason guy, and one of the Randle/Smart/Wiggins/Parker guys and LA is back in business with the quickness.

 
I don't know what's funnier , the idea of a healthy Kobe or a max offseason guy. :lmao:

As a note, the top two players in the draft play for Kansaa.

Totally agree the Bynum tank type move is the right play, but it seems like there is a ton of competition for those picks. I doubt the Lakers can get to the bottom 5...

Hawks in similar boat. I will say that Toronto could be 5 games under .500 in a week (tough 4 game stretch coming up) and it makes it even harder to know what they should do.

That could very well be true. 5 games under .500 probably still gives them the division lead though then they have a cake schedule after that. As Lowe said, they've played the toughest schedule so far in the east so they'll have an easy time down the stretch; They've only played 6 games vs their sorry excuse of a division.

This is grand coming from a Raptors fan who have been the perennial cellar dwellers of the Atlantic division for years.

Unbelievable difference. Gay single handedly made ever player on the Raptors worse.

Kind of makes you wonder how good Smush Parker could have been if he didn't have Kobe holding him back.

MCW. He needs to shoot better - he's just above 40% . But his assist-TO is over 2, and per Sportsline: "He entered the game averaging 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists. The only rookie to average at least that many was Magic Johnson in 1979-80." He's had a handful of wow games. He's no Magic, but he's better than half the guys drafted ahead of him.

Yeah...everyone does till they have to play a 7 game series against them.

In any case Steph Curry was on fire last night. The Warriors played great. Nice win for them. As far and the Andrew Bynum stuff.....that guy will never ever be an impact player again in the league. He looks fat and totally out of shape. He is done.

 
Havent been in this thread since off season....what a disaster the Nets have become. In hindsight adding a bunch of old expensive players not the greatest move but I figured they would get one run out of them....

Kidd - looks lost is an understatement - the Frank feud was ugly.

Pierce/Garnett - look like they should have retired last year - Pierce is gone after this season...Garnett signed one more year but have to think he pulls the plug

Lopez - another season ending foot injury - fair to question his future at this point

D Will - just not the same player he was in Utah - not a franchise guy any more

JJ - not awful but freakish contract means stuck with him

AK - just cant stay healthy

So Nets are an old team...locked in with huge contracts - at or near the cap until 2016 season....with no draft picks.

Oh boy - not looking good now and for the future - anyone able to talk me off the ledge?

I would say that the reason is that he is really good. His long body and limbs are tough to guard and he gets to the rim with ease. Opens up a lot for Anderson and Wroten and Hawes, etc., who are marginal talents but seem to have enough skill to score when not needing to do too much.

That shooting % is a problem, though. I mean, he misses layups regularly.

Anyway, that is what I can see, though admittedly I have not watched as much the last 10 games or so.

 
I think Pierce is done and Garnett retires......DWill still has value but not sure what the Nets could get back at this point for him.....Lopez has so much potential but cant stay healthy....JJ at $25M? toxic.....Can't imagine Proky is happy - maybe they deal Pierce/Garnett contracts for longer term high priced guys? Screwed until 2016 so might as well mix it up

They're 10-11 with him against 1-10 without. Damn.

 
Went to the Blazers/Bobcats game last night. Blazers couldn't miss. They had 70 points at the half. The crowd started the "Chalupa" chant midway through the 3rd (even though 100 points earns a McDonald's breakfast sandwich these days and not the Chalupa, which I still have never tried) and the home team was playing players in the 4th I'd never even heard of. I couldn't name more than two players on the Bobcats team. They were largely invisible. The NBA needs to contract some teams. Just way too many watered down bad teams out there.

The Bobcats have some guys who can play. Every team has a clunker once in a while. The talent pool in the league is as deep as I can ever remember it being, and it looks like it will be strengthened substantially by next year's draft.

They really messed up. They need to move as many pieces as possible to contending teams that need specific roles filled. Probably get .75 on the dollar if lucky, and hope to get some picks back.

Sitting in the 8th spot right now.

To be fair, the Bobcats have improved this year, esp. defensively. And they're on a back-to-back on a west-coast trip, those games are going to be near-automatic W's for the Clips, Blazers, and Warriors.

POR is awesome this year, and the WC playoffs are going to be great. The EC playoffs would be great if they just had a best of 21 series between Indiana and Miami.

Who is there best player? Al Jefferson? They had some goofy looking white guy that looked like Scola. He sucked. That's a bad team.

That was the knock on him coming out, his scoring. Even 2FG% then. As you said his size is unmatched, his passing is good and his defense is phenomenal. If he stop taking so many shots and just focus on taking easy layup he could turnout to be like Rondo. Magic is asking too much

Yeah, I was gonna make the Rondo comparison, but didn't want to get ahead of myself. But that is the mold.

And 9-2 since the Sac players arrived. Only loses to the Spurs and an OT loss in Cha. It hasn't been against scrub teams either which has me the most impressed. @ Dallas, @OKC, Indy, @Was and @Chi x2 (Bulls aren't very good but they still have a helluva defence). Won 7 of 8 on the road. What might be the most shocking, is Casey is finally doing things right. He's settled on a 9 man rotation instead of his dart board system to start the year. No more Fields or Novak. I thought he'd continue to trot out Fields at the 3, keep Ross stuck to the bench behind Derozan and not use Salmons at all.
