Howard has been huge in the 4th, but those missed FTs could really bite them in the butt.

And why is Harden not being aggressive? He seemingly has not taken a shot in forever.

 
Wow.This is one of the best series I've ever seen. Unreal.

Hard pressed to think this year has been the best 1st round in NBA history. What is it 5 of 8 series are going 7 games?

Edit: Wow what a freaking shot to end the series!! Unbelievable.

How the duck is Beverly not on him like glue? Frustrating. Portland was the better team because Houston couldn't put them away. That's on the coach and his uber passive offense in the fourth quarter.

I wasn't paying close attention but guess they were switching and Parsons (I believe) was nowhere to be seen.

Just an unbelievable shot.

I was just gonna ask if it's been reffed like this all game. Didn't catch the first half, but in the last 4 possessions they called goaltending on Lee when Jordan touched the ball on the rim. They called a ticky tack foul on Green and then they called Thompson for a foul after Deandre shoves Lee under the basket on a rebound. Don't like it.

It hasn't been like this all series. Guys are hacking Griffin every time he gets the ball with few calls.

Griffin is a massive flopper (head jerk on every drive pretty much), so I think there is a bit of boy who cried wolf going on.

Warriors got two BIG calls down the stretch.

1) Griffin's 6th on Iggy's 4 pt play. He just touched him on the hip. I see refs let that go all the time.

2) Reddick's 6th on that block call. That is about as 50/50 a call as there is. JJ is sliding, but Barnes lowers his shoulder into his chest.

Those are 2 tough breaks that lead to 3 points in a 1 posession game.

Griffins 6th has been a POE for over a decade. An elbow/knee/hip tap on a jump shooter gets called more often than not.Reddick was going down before the contact, you can tell by the way he lands. If he waits and takes in the chest he will slide back, not go splat straight down.

A touch is not the same as a tap.....and they let it go constantly.

You should try it in a rec league sometime, it's awesome. The best part is if you nail it once you can mess up the guys shot just by getting close as he will adjust vertically in anticipation of the next one. That being said, a touch can be just as effective as a tap and is the reason it is called as often as it is.

I've played a ton of basketball in my day....HS, college, pickup and rec leagues. No amount of touching my leg while I shoot has ever effected my shot. Now a backhand nut shot on the other hand..... :X

I have never tried the leg, don't wanna push too hard and jack the guys leg on the landing. The elbow is easier but harder to get away with.

I had to rewatch that again. Can't believe how easy they were able to inbound and a shot in rhythm with less than a second.

Watching again, McHale rightfully so should get roasted for not having Beverly on Lillard.

 
The worst part is Parsons didn't even get screened by Mo Williams as I thought watching live. Almost like he fell asleep. Lillard had 6 feet of separation before Parsons even moved.

Out of all the series in Round 1, this was the series I was hoping went 7. Really thought the Rockets had potential to do some serious damage this postseason.

NBAtv mentioning it now: Will be interesting to see if they utilize Dwight more in the post next season. Putting more offense through him. They brought up a very good point that I also noticed in the series. They need to learn how to post feed him so he's not losing position in process with their usual high arching post feeds.

Why NBA is the best.

Their's a little bit of luck but you got to be just as good to capitalize.

MLB, NFL, NCAA basketball and even NHL to an extent just a crapshoot.

Nothing more satisfying then NBA playoffs.

 
Sterling's wife seems like a creepy broad too. Get a divorce don't demonize these woman when apparently it's ok for Donald to date other woman. Plus think I read she was taking tally of the minorities in their buildings.

Yeah, no kidding. Option 1 was for Lillard to curl off a screen and shoot a 3. Option 2 was for Lillard to curl off a screen and shoot a 3. Option 78 was for Lillard to curl off a screen and shoot a 3.

I mean, maybe if there were 5 Rockets on Lillard and 3 Blazers alone under the basket they'd have thought about a different play. But everyone in the arena and everyone watching at home knew what was coming. Except the Rockets, apparently.

 
Some thoughts on the last play in the HOU-POR game:

* Why in the hell is Harden in the game in ANY must stop possession?

* Initially Beverly is matched on Lillard, the Harden 'recognizes' something and motions Beverly and Parsons to switch.

* Personally I would have had the inbounders defender turn his back and zone the cutters coming high. POR had 3 guys weekside, it was obvious they were coming

* Why have what may be the league's worst defender guarding the screener, ie the primary point of confrontation? He never had vision on the ball and forced Parsons to fight thru a double and a single.

*There was no backside help for Parsons. DH was fronting LMA so there is no help on a back cut and Parsons is forced to trail.

Poorly schemed but good god, how is Harden on the floor in that situation?

Beverly is initially in good position, but when Chandler takes over, he gets in conservative position (like you said, likely because he is not quick enough to prevent Lillard cut to the basket) which gives an open door for the obvious play Portland wanted to run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mejFtEY5faU

Lillard sees this, as well as the fact that Beverly is not in position to switch, so he doesn't even need to use the screen and just sprints over knowing Parsons is not catching him.

Of course Harden is blatantly seeing the entire sequence unfold, but having the defensive awareness of a table, he can't be expected to provide help. And McHale takes blame too because there were clearly communication issues between Parsons and Beverly.

Spurs on the verge of a historic fail. Could become the third number one to lose to an eight. I have no idea where the team that played an 82 game season went. Need to put out an APB and hang some posters.

Only the Denver Nuggets (1994) and the New York Knicks (1999) have defeated a No. 1 seed in the first round of the playoffs as a No. 8 seed - and both did it in the old best-of-five format.
