Spurs on the verge of a historic fail. Could become the third sixth or seventh number one to lose to an eight. I have no idea where the team that played an 82 game season went. Need to put out an APB and hang some posters.
Only the Denver Nuggets (1994) and the New York Knicks (1999) have defeated a No. 1 seed in the first round of the playoffs as a No. 8 seed - and both did it in the old best-of-five format.

Links to the other four or five?

Edit: Found two more. So they would be the fifth.
Possibly another in the books by the time they tip off.

Yep, found a more recent article, listed the same five. That's ok, I'll still feel ashamed for them if they lose. Actually, as poorly as they are playing, I'm already there.

The difference between the 1 and 8 seed in the WC is not huge this year, though. The Sonics in 94 and Mavericks in 07 were the two big shockers on that list.

Really?I listed five series in which an 8 seed defeated a 1 seed. Then you state you only see four there? What four do you see?

Again, I will note the five instances and with the years this time.

1. Nuggets over Sonics in 1994

2. Knicks over Heat in 1999

3. Warriors over Mavericks in 2007

4. Grizzlies over Spurs in 2011

5. 76ers over Bulls in 2012

Again, five.

Not four.

I don't think that GSW over DAL was THAT big of a shocker. My wife (who is German) and I have birthdays a week apart in March and our annual BD date was watching DAL @ GS every year during that week. GS hadn;t lost in the 4 or 5 games we saw, were and had won like 8 of 9 in the previous 3 years including breaking DAL's win streak of 19 in March. They were a bargain at +1000 :moneybag:

Please guys, can we get back to the point at hand? Which is that the Spurs had the best regular season record, the coach of the year, and the league's best bench. And now they are playing like the suck.

The Randolph suspension is a crime against humanity. Totally disgusted by that decision.
:goodposting:
Seriously weak. Consistent with Nene, but just dumb.
http://www.nba.com/video/channels/originals/2014/05/02/randolph-video.nba/index.htmlThe suspension is warranted. Randolph is a #######. Just a really ####### stupid thing to do.
His conduct is consistent with other conduct which has resulted in suspensions, certainly. It just really sucks from the fan perspective to have the NBA front office decide an amazing series.

It does suck. He forced the NBAs hand though. A punch like that should result in a suspension every time. Randolph is the only one to be upset with. It was very stupid of him.

I disagree I think that only a handful of players such as World Peace, D. Cousins, Barnes, etc. would have received a suspension for game 7 under the same circumstances.

Pacers seem to be playing like the Pacers of old. As a Wizards fan, I'm a lot more concerned about the second round than I was a couple of hours ago.

Why NBA is the best.

Their's a little bit of luck but you got to be just as good to capitalize.

MLB, NFL, NCAA basketball and even NHL to an extent just a crapshoot.

Nothing more satisfying then NBA playoffs.
Yeah, this Pacers/Hawks game 7 is just edge of your seat excitement. Cutting my toenails is almost as satisfying as the NBA playoffs, but yeah...this is amazing. Way better than the NCAA tournament or the NFL playoffs, really not even close if you can stay awake through the games.

I don't agree with DD often, but when I do it's Dos Equis... & he is spot on. To add on, I'd also put this years hockey playoffs about 100 times better than the NBA Playoffs.

If you're a Pacers player, do you celebrate?
Why not? Won a hard-fought series and seemed to get their heads back on straight.

What other team in the East or NBA for that matter is going to shoot and hit as many threes as they did?

The Pacers demise is a bit premature.

I can't wait for the next round.

If you're a Pacers player, do you celebrate?
Absolutely. They just beat the team that has beaten them the most over the last 3 years. And Hibbert played like a stud for the first time in 3 months. If he re-found his game the Heat are in a lot of trouble.
Disagree... Atlanta wasn't a good team. Miami would've won that series with Lebron averaging 28 minutes a game 4-0.

This one game doesn't change what we have all watched for the last 2 months.

You do understand (since I've said 10x in this thread) i ####### hate Miami? Unfortunately, I'm not a blind homer and don't have some false sense of security after one game against a subpar team

I didn't get the feeling Indiana played that great. Seemed like the Hawks missed about 20 open threes.

Well, that was probably part of it too. But teams that live by the 3, die by the 3 as well. They hit a preposterous percentage throughout the series so falling back to a more typical norm over the last 2 games shouldn't be a total shock.
