*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (2 Viewers)

I find it fascinating that people think Cleveland's young guys are so much better than Miami Role players.

Irving isn't a superstar, Wiggins still needs to prove himself at the NBA level. Waiters has potential, but if they sign LeBron, he's got to be the first out the door.
Why would a backup shooting guard who can handle the ball be the first out the door?
I think he'll be the odd man out. A 22 year old SG who can score is in high demand. Come contract time, someone's going to offer way more than he's worth. Wiggins is already going to eat into his playing time this season. Adding LeBron would be even more so.
Small ball with Irving, waiters, wiggins, Lebron and a corpse at center would be fun.
I could see this group averaging 100 points a game, since only LeBron plays D. Lets Mike D'antioni on the phone.
Lebron and Wiggins combo playing perimeter D sounds like the best reason for Lebron to go to CLE

One of Wiggins biggest selling points is his D.
Don't rain on my parade

I used to tell the girls at school the same thing about myself.

I was lying :kicksrock:

Lebron has done nothing. Agents, media are pulling the wool over Cleveland's eyes.

It's cruel.
Cleveland is a better situation than Miami. Why are you so sure he'll go back to Miami? Because Miami is a family?
It is?
What do you want to debate? Next year? The next 6 years? The latter is not even a question. Even Miami reporters coming on Cleve radio acknowledge that.

What's up with the "LaFamilia" at the end of Irving's and Tristan's twitter bios? Has it always been there? That's a Lebron thingy no?
Earlier I posted that if I were top tier like LeBron, i'd want to be a FA in 2017 when I believe the big money from the new TV deal will start to flow. I think this current deal with LeBron will be for another 3 years, max. So how about for 3 years.

Also include the organization in your analysis, include James's history with both, please. tia.
I think you took my first question the wrong way...I did word it badly. I think he MIGHT see the writing on the wall in Miami with Wade declining. Lebron does not want to do all the heavy lifting. Never has, never. But he has, alot. Bosh doesn't help that cause. I see very little chance he signs for 3 years in Miami when the Big 3 would be sucking up most of the cap during that time. More like 1 year with an option for 2.

So if that's what he signs, does Bosh do the same? I can't see him signing for 4 and be stuck on a heat team that's going to be terrible as soon as a year from now if James leave for 3 more years; especially considering its going to be a good amount less money than he'd be getting in Houston. Its risky for Bosh to do a shorter term deal though as his window for a big payout isn't nearly as long as it is for James.

Gotcha. Agreed to an extent however i'm really a big fan of the ol' Boshasaurus. Wade's future 50ish games/season (if that's the intent moving forward) would be a concern of mine if I were James given the minutes he's played in his career. I just don't think for the next few years that Cleveland gives James a better chance to win it all than Miami.

To nutB's point on Bosh-I think that is a legitimate concern, although terrible may be an overstatement. With the Heat basically moving towards a hard cap situation they'll be offering more to Bosh than previously considered per year although I can't see him signing a long term deal either given the 2016/2017 free agency situation. If Bosh leaves to Houston it's going to impact the Heat's ability to fill the roster with another (Melo) player significantly with McRoberts MLE going bye bye. Bosh has only ever stated that he plans on being in Miami-as recently as yesterday.

Most of this info is from Ira Winderman, Ethan Skolnick regarding the cap-I don't know a whole lot about it and don't want to suggest otherwise.

i would lost a lot of respect for labron if he went back to cleveland one because cleveland is a cesspool but two because he would be going back to dan snyder who called him everything he could on the way out and acted like he somehow owned labron if he goes back to that man after the way snyder acted then i would lose some respect for him plane and simple take that to the bank brohans
He pretty much would send the message that he's more important to the franchise than the owner.

Terrible is definitely an overstatement. They certainly won't be hoisting any championship trophies without James.

Not following the bolded. What do you think the heat will offer him? I think the number is something like 4 years/20-22M in houston.

Someone help me out with S&T's. Do the Dubs Clips WANT to S&T for Hawes? Is the problem on the Cle end that they would have to take on salary?

Yeah, dunno what I was doing there. I heard today from Skolnick that they'll be able to offer more to Bosh/Wade since they are operating under the hard cap and not freeing up $10MM/per for Pau/etc. What "more" is I don't know, probably not all the way to Rockets money. I didn't mean to bold my own post, sorry bud.

That was my bold. I've just heard that Bosh was looking for 16-18M per and that the heat were wanting him to take even less. If that's the case, that's quite a salary difference.

Rumor: Nike bought all the empty and available billboards in Cleveland.

Todem does this make it 99.99% sure he is going back to Miami?
My source (not saying who, but it starts with an "F" and ends with a "rostillicus") feels strongly that James will end up back in Cleveland.

I am 97.63% sure.

The Heat will be operating over the cap. By using the two exceptions for McRoberts and Granger they will use all three of the The Big 3's Bird rights to get them paid. Yeah they will take a hometown discount so all 3 can stay. All of them have known this since the day they all signed together.

I am no cap expert either but thats how I understood it.

Lord knows, Nike is fired up to gain a little more of the local Cleveland market share.

They probably spent at least $1000 renting every billboard in the city.

There is no way the nike people are ao careless as to buy all the billboards in such an obvious manner.

But count me as one who would think a return by the prodigal son would be ####### awesome. Seriously, who would cheer against that? Isn't that the story we all want from our athletes? How can you cheer against the hometown kid coming back to the ####hole city to bring a championship that never seemed to be a possibility ?

Wouldn't a return to Cleveland undo all the bad feelings just like the spurs win this year made game 6 of last year decidedly unimportant? Lebron has never chosen his hometown - they won the lottery for him. By returning he gets to say "this is where I want to be" for the first time ever, and for a city that has never attracted anyone.

Zach Lowe had an interesting article on Grantland today where he mentions the Heat could have just used the 2 exceptions on McBob and Granger if the big 3 didn't opt out (and the 3 would have made way more $). By doing it now with everyone opting out, now the team will be up against a hard cap / tax apron (or something like that) and won't have as much money for the big 3 or flexibility to go over the tax too much. If the big 3 all come back to Miami, the salary cuts they're taking will just go to Arison and not to building a better team.

Also, if Bosh goes to Hou that puts Mia under the cap (even with Wade and Lebron cap holds) so they can't use the exceptions on McBob and Granger. They'd have to use cap space to sign those 2 which gives less $ for other FA like Melo.

I said it was a feeling! I don't know ####!

If whats his face goes to Cleveland who even challenges them for #1 seed? Indiana maybe and Chicago if Rose is healthy? I'm a Wiz fan and like what they're doing and I think Toronto has some things going, but the Cavs have to be the favorite, no?

Clevo walks through the East if Lebron signs with them, right? Might be worth a sprinkle.
Depends what else happens and why I imagine Melo and the rest of the FA's are waiting to see what happens. Might be favorites but hardly the walk through that the Heat were. They'll be an exciting team but I'll take experience even in the form of Indiana over Cleveland. I just can't imagine a team with a bunch of guys 23 or younger and LeBron dominating.
