No Melo ---> No Pau?
Quite possibly. I wonder if the Cavs could clear enough space to get Pau too, might not be a great fit if they land Love though. There's a good chance Pau ends up in NY.
What is the approx Pau cost? Pau+Wiggins and whatever other assets you'd have to deal for Love might be close enough.

Cavs can always decline Andy and then sign him back up right?
So far nobody's offered Pau much. Of the teams he's seemed interested in the Lakers can offer the most, but it seems like he'd take less to go to a contender. I think it'd cost the Lakers in the $10M range to keep him - I think he'd take north of $5M from a contender. He hasn't jumped on the 3/4M pseudo offers he's been seeing from places like OKC. I'm just guessing though.
chatter has he spurs offering him a MLE kind of slot between $5-6 million. he'd be an interesting addition to the spurs.

Carmelo Anthony - F - Knicks
Carmelo Anthony will re-sign with the Knicks "barring a last minute change of heart," according to the NY Daily News.
The report adds Anthony had been "agonizing over this" for the past week. "He will have something for everybody on Thursday," an anonymous friend of Anthony said. "He is really torn because this is the biggest decision of his career. But he wants to get it done in New York. He told me he believes in Phil." The Knicks are likely going to have a tough time winning a title this season because of the contracts of Amare Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani, but things will get better next year. Hopefully this news becomes official and more free agents can agree on deals. Additionally, Yahoo! reported just minutes following this news that Anthony circle believes it's always possible to ask for a trade later.

Yeah - instead of Melo we end up giving 4 yr, 8 figure deals to knuckle heads like Lance and Chandler Parsons. Overpaying role players is the WORST thing you can do in today's NBA.

If that is how you feel that Kobe contract must really sting.

Awesome addition for SAS or OKC imo.

Hopefully that doesn't happen.

I didn't know that anyone had confirmed that pau had been offered anything.
The teams he's spoken with (and reportedly he has stopped considering) only had 3-4M under the cap to offer - OKC was one of those. That's why I said pseudo offer - they were interested in him and met/spoke but didn't have much money to offer.

Was hoping that during the playoffs but I didnt think that was even an option now. That would just be awesome. How crazy deep would that team be. It would be almost unfair.

i would like it but uncertain if he would come off the bench. i don't know that he would start over splitter, honestly. Pop is a funny guy like that.

Doesn't really matter. He can split time with Duncan and keep everyone fresh for playoffs. That would be some 2nd unit with pau, diaw, mills, ginobli, and belinelli. Good god.

Parsons over the course of few months goes from one of the best contracts in the NBA to one of the worst. Seems the Rockets should have taken that 4th year team option.

It's a lot of cash but times well for the end of Dirk's contract. Gotta figure that is when Dallas blows it up anyway.

Yep. Could have had him for $1M, right? Morey got caught playing the long game with his pants down.

Think everything was going down in the next 72 hours anyway. Avoiding Parson's becoming an UFA next offseason was a major factor as well I would think.
