*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (8 Viewers)

PHIL TREXLER-ABJ ‏@PhilTrexler 55m

Folks in Bath feel strongly that LBJ will sign w/ CLE. LBJ's camp contacted cops hour ago to alert them of tonight's annoucement. #kingjames

PhilTrexler: @MrsLevy1 @RuiterWrongFAN Cops expecting a celebration on LBJ's street tonight and not the anger of 2010. #kingjames

Bath Township, Ohio police -- home to Lebron James -- tells NBC News they are NOT preparing for an announcement or extra police details.

Now we have something that may show a lean:

@WojYahooNBA: Cavs pressed Celtics/Nets officials to complete paperwork on 3-way trade in last hour, needed it done "immediately." Cap space is clear now.

Any idea who is still out there as a stretch 4?

Although trading anything less than Wiggins is an option too I suppose.

I like this concept.

Maybe Cleveland could do better than whatever Houston is offering for Ryan Anderson, if the Pelicans are trying to unload him.
Not sure why they'd want to get rid of Anderson. Decent contract and it isn't like they're loaded in the front court.

Since damn near every team wants a stretch 4, you'd think they'd get something pretty good for him. And something good != Asik

Can confirm extra security stationed on/around property of LeBron's Akron home as of 3 pm ET. @PhilTrexler initially reported.

Trexler was on Bull and Fox. Lives in area. Has spoken to policemen. Maybe off duty.

I can only guess that they are concerned about the fact that neither Anderson not Davis can play post defense, so it's hard to play them together against any team with a legit big. But there are so few of those in the league it would seem silly to unload a valuable piece like Anderson for very little.

Man there is going to be an influx of Lebron bashers who don't watch basketball anymore because it's not as good as it was in the 80s into this thread once an announcement is made, no matter what it is.

Kind of looking forward to it. #hotsportstakes

Its a valid concern but there are lots of minutes to go around with a 3 big-man rotation; especially during the regular season.

That could be for either scenario.

Pat Reilly's reaction if this happens:

Dear Miami, all of south Florida and Miami Heat supporters wherever you may be tonight:

As you now know, our former hero, who spent the last 4 years in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Miami Heat player.

This was announced with a several-day, narcissistic, self-promotional buildup culminating with todays notice of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal and driven staff over here at your hometown Heat have not betrayed you, nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE MIAMI HEAT WILL WIN ANOTHER NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER 'KING' WINS ANOTHER ONE."

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware back to Miami, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our homegrown "Chosen One" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Miami, Florida.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him up north. And until he does "right" by Miami and Florida, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Miami.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day ...

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have deserved for a year now and is long overdue ...

I'm looking forward to it too. Gonna be pretty funny.

I stopped watching when Chrles Oakley retired, no more on-court fights about off-court issues. Namely Oakley plowing everyone's wife/daughter on road trips.

In other news Donald Sterling got off the stand after testifying today, called his wife a "pig," dropped mic and walked off stage. Classy.
I have enjoyed the LeBron saga because it's pretty funny and it doesn't really affect my team one way or the other. But the worst thing about it is that it's taking attention away from the Sterling trial. Holy #### is it amazing. If you haven't been reading the updates, check it out.

What would be the point of all of this if he wasn't planning on staying in Miami? Does he not get enough attention already?
