*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (4 Viewers)

What would be the point of all of this if he wasn't planning on staying in Miami? Does he not get enough attention already?
The point of what? Him saying absolutely nothing? Him taking his time to make a major life decision? Not sure what the problem is here.
now come onhis agent or some other spokesperson could have put a damper on a lot of this cleveland stuff ages ago had they wanted to

there were articles about how his agent was saying it was "his mission" to get bron back in cleveland!

this is not a runaway train the king cannot control, he has chosen not to and chosen to let his people let it roll
Link? I don't recall hearing anything from his camp other than "reporters" claiming "sources".

He's handled it exactly how he should. He's been quiet and he'll announce his decision when he is ready. Not sure what you want from him.
he control's his image and his message, if he does not he needs to handle people that doright now he is choosing to allow the message to be lebron is very likely going back to cleveland. IF that is not the message he wants out there he is entirely capable of changing it. his silence is a choice,
How do you know that he has made up his mind?

If Lebron wants to tone this down he just has someone leak to any one of 2 dozen reporters that Cleveland is getting way ahead of themselves on this and while the choice is not final bron is still seriously leaning the heat

it throws some water on this fire without Lebron saying anything

and not lock him into anything

Serious question: Why would Dwayne Wade opt out of his contract if Lebron was leaving? I apologize if this has been asked and answered here already.
I think everyone assumes the Heat front office has given him assurances that he will be made whole and then some in exchange for the obvious flexibility he provided by opting out.

I think it's possible that LeBron genuinely didn't know what he would do and Wade's opt-out was basically a necessary step if Miami hoped to keep him. If they're paying Wade close to max money the next two years they can't show LeBron any real chance to upgrade the roster.
that is what i assume

if this was a done deal to the heat i really do not see lebron going through all of this.
He was done meeting with anybody last night. How long does it take? I understand he doesn't have that many fingers and toes, but, his agents should be able to explain it to him.
Yes! The HOT SPORTS TAKES are here early!

I like how this one suggests that he counts on his fingers and toes, a witty barb intimating that LeBron is not intelligent.

it is like people somehow think Lebron freaking James is powerless when it comes to the media. Please.Everyone wants to be the reporter that gets this right, he could leak any one of a dozen things that would back the cleveland hype down. He doesn't have to have decided to start controlling the story, everyone is looking for signs from his camp. Send some non committal ones.

So you want him leaking stuff to the media instead of staying quiet? Good christ man.

In other news Donald Sterling got off the stand after testifying today, called his wife a "pig," dropped mic and walked off stage. Classy.
I have enjoyed the LeBron saga because it's pretty funny and it doesn't really affect my team one way or the other. But the worst thing about it is that it's taking attention away from the Sterling trial. Holy #### is it amazing. If you haven't been reading the updates, check it out.
Maybe this guy will be committed to the loony bin after he wastes his and his wife's $ fighting for something that will inevitably happen anyway.

Hardest thing for me to get over if he's leaving. Udonis, too.

I know for sure I would NOT want to skip out on UD and then have to face that guy.
I'm sure Lebron is terrified of what Haslem is going to do during his 7 mins of playing time per game.
I'm not talking on the court. Talking about money and friends.

maybe he does not

but it avoids press like this:

http://www.cbssports.com/general/writer/gregg-doyel/24611007/clevelands-hopes-are-high-will-lebron-deliver-heartbreak-again

and avoids getting cleveland's hopes up just to piss on them if he does not go there.

I think Le B knows what he's going to do and has for awhile now. He's keeping the drama going by not saying anything yet.

He's the only one that has been talked about on CNN and CNN will report to us immediately when the announcement is made. They don't call him KING James for nothing!

yeah

lord knows NBA players never leak stuff to the media through their people to control the story. Revolutionary!!!!

Udonis is going to "take care of him"?

I just can't believe that you'd prefer him to attempt to control the idiots in the media instead of staying quiet while he makes his decision.

Also, I'd really love to know how you know that he has made up his mind.

Like show up somewhere with a Heat shirt and Cavs shorts on.

BRILLIANT!

Udonis is going to "take care of him"?
Yes, that's exactly what i'm saying. Similar to the Bills "taking care" of 4 straight superbowls.

The media is gonna go hog wild over this no matter what James says or does prior to him announcing where he is going, so his best bet is to say nothing until he decides.

Anyone else see Aaron Goldhammer (Cle radio host) on OTL today? OMG, what a #####. I sure hope that egghead doesn't representative the attitude of the average Cleveland sports fan.

The people who are #####ing and moaning about how long this is taking are the people who can't disconnect themselves from ESPN, Twitter, this board, or whatever else. If the "attention" is bothering you, go outside and find another distraction.

Goldhammer is a total knob.

I'm also here for the thread title updates, they entertain me.

Most Cleveland sports fans want to fight Hammer.

Some have.

you lost me.

weren't you saying that Udonis was going to physically hurt LeBron for costing him money?

He'll be fine. Guys that average 3 & 3 per game are hard to come by.
He'll also be fine bc as Todem pointed out, there is that sweet Assistant to the Traveling Secretary job waiting in the wings.

I don't know why he doesn't go to the Lakers

He already has the rings, why not lead the Lakers back to the promised land and be involved with battling the best teams in the league night after night(including a good crosstown rival) playing for one of the great franchises in the history of the league. This seems to be a much better way to cement his status as the best ever. All the LA benefits as well - TV, movies, clothing, etc.

btw, Cleveland > Miami

San Diego kind of sucks as a city too honestly
Stop trying to out-stupid the Clev folks Rude.
the beaches are great and all and it's certainly not a bad place to live. just not much character to the city itself imo. feels suburban.I still like it there and all.
:lmao:
when the Chargers leave, San Diego will have zero professional sports teams in sports that matter.
:lmao:

Chargers matter. :lmao: You got me with that one.

They just mentioned him on CNBC. LeBron is loving this and so am I.

So....Kobe, LeBron and?

No? I just said I wouldn't want to have to go up to my friend, Haslem in this case, after I allowed him to opt out of guaranteed money if it weren't part of a bigger plan. Wade too, though I think Wade could make some of that money back (certainly not 2/42 like he had) either with the Heat or on the open market.

Unless you're plugged in enough to suggest Haslem is getting his 4.6MM from somewhere else?

He blew up the Heat when he thought THEY had overbloated contracts that were going to keep them from being competitive...and he's going to team up with Kobe?

Actually, Randle and LeBron. Kobe's a non-factor, especially if you're looking further ahead than next season, which presumably LeBron is doing.
