*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (6 Viewers)

The media is gonna go hog wild over this no matter what James says or does prior to him announcing where he is going, so his best bet is to say nothing until he decides.

Anyone else see Aaron Goldhammer (Cle radio host) on OTL today? OMG, what a #####. I sure hope that egghead doesn't representative the attitude of the average Cleveland sports fan.
Most Cleveland sports fans want to fight Hammer.

Some have.
And he's from Colorado, not Ohio

I don't know why he doesn't go to the Lakers

He already has the rings, why not lead the Lakers back to the promised land and be involved with battling the best teams in the league night after night(including a good crosstown rival) playing for one of the great franchises in the history of the league. This seems to be a much better way to cement his status as the best ever. All the LA benefits as well - TV, movies, clothing, etc.
He blew up the Heat when he thought THEY had overbloated contracts that were going to keep them from being competitive...and he's going to team up with Kobe?
Sure, but what about the TV, movies and clothing?

They can't afford him?
Even without Pau?
So....Kobe, LeBron and?
Actually, Randle and LeBron. Kobe's a non-factor, especially if you're looking further ahead than next season, which presumably LeBron is doing.
This - plus a few other midlevel guys and when has the tax ever hurt the Lakers - especially when Kobe and LeBron are there.

That's true. You're not going to find that stuff just anywhere.

I guess CBS could start up a CSI:Cleveland or Cleveland 5-0 starring LeBron

I used to like everything that came from Colorado.

Used to.

Until the Drive? or the Fumble?

Yes, that's exactly what i'm saying. Similar to the Bills "taking care" of 4 straight superbowls.
you lost me.

weren't you saying that Udonis was going to physically hurt LeBron for costing him money?
He'll be fine. Guys that average 3 & 3 per game are hard to come by.
He'll also be fine bc as Todem pointed out, there is that sweet Assistant to the Traveling Secretary job waiting in the wings.
I have little doubt after Haslem's playing days he will be involved in the organization in some fashion. The same way Tim Hardaway, Alonzo Mourning, Keith Askins, and Juwan Howard are. Whether that happens right after he retires or a few years after.

Get a grip. I have been following this team since it's inception. Haslem is beloved in the organization. Guy is all heart and guts and has twice taken one for the team in regards to contracts and being flexible.

So…I see all the same BS flying all over the internet. For a couple of guys who are about to have massive changes (Bosh and LBJ) they sure seem cool, calm and as a matter of fact. Bosh on a great vacation with the family, LBJ running his camp, playing pick up ball, hanging with D.Wade…and oh yeah had a quick pow wow with Riley, his agent and the Heats cap expert to go over some details of his new contract and getting everything lined up and approved. And not taking any other meetings.

So no vedditng process with a new coach, new team, new players, green rookies, a 4th year guard who has not finished a season, a team with zero playoff experience and an owner who called him a coward and quitter. Yeah he is going to Cleveland. Makes a ton of sense for the next 2-3 years when he can still get to the Finals with the team he knows, trusts and has won with for 4 years.

Makes too much sense for everyone though. You see everyone wants him to leave (except Heat fans) because it's a great story and of course The Heat will blow up.

But just throw common sense out the window because the media is got a ton of fans by the balls. LMFAO.

Confidence level is now at 110%

No? I just said I wouldn't want to have to go up to my friend, Haslem in this case, after I allowed him to opt out of guaranteed money if it weren't part of a bigger plan. Wade too, though I think Wade could make some of that money back (certainly not 2/42 like he had) either with the Heat or on the open market.

Unless you're plugged in enough to suggest Haslem is getting his 4.6MM from somewhere else?
I have no idea. I'm relying on my heater insider Todem for all news in this situation.

Per him and gatorman, the Heat take care of their own so I assume Udonis will be alright in the end. He might also be pretty grateful to his GB LBJ for those rings.

Go get Lamar Odom - and then you get the Kardashian fun as well - LeBron would be an even bigger star than ever. He could start his own 24x7 network then.

LOL at massive changes. Both would be going home. Pretty sure they know the lay of the land in the 'new' place.

I'm pretty sure the NBA is paying guys like Lebron and Melo to delay their decisions just so people are talking about the NBA during their boring offseason.

Get a freaking grip. Your talking about the last tim they get max money…these are huge decisions. I am talking about the teams, coaches, players systems everything. Bosh has seen no one. Lebron has seen no one other than Riley.

Carmello on the other hand has taken visits and went to other teams. That is when you know your shopping.

Yeah they know the lay of the land. Son…..watch and learn. They are all coming back. Everything is quiet, relaxed and calm in Heat land. That tells me everything.

Chargers matter. :lmao: You got me with that one.
gaslight district feels a bit like disneyland. that's not a city. it's a theme park.
Gaslamp, but yeah, that party of town sucks. East Village is cool, North Park has gotten awesome in the last 5yrs and only growing. Pacific Beach and La Jolla have there own things going on, just not my style. And OB is the greatest place in the universe. Oh, and Coronado something...

Losing the local minor league hockey team a few years back did suck. And SDSU sports have really turned the corner.

Apparently these people meet/talk all the time without us necessarily knowing.

If the Miami trio don't announce tonight doesn't that keep the cap hold on Miami where other teams would be freed up to sign more people. Wouldn't that hurt Miami in signing more free agents?

Why the #### does Lebron still have a house in Akron. He should be getting more #### for that. Akron?
you don't get to choose where you're from
Does he still live in his childhood home?
no

he built a palace for himself there years ago

I'm still confused on this. I too thought there was no way Lebron was leaving Miami after Wade and Haslem opted out, I'm surprised some think Lebron has handled this most professionally. But I admit I am starting to see it that way the more I think about it. At worst this is probably just a case of him simply not being able to make up his mind, and in that case he's actually done a pretty good job of not giving either side false hopes all things considered.

It's not Lebron's fault the media and the rest of the NBA is all waiting on him. He's waited a couple days to decide where he'll spend the next 5 years of his life. Big deal.

It seems that LeBron wasn't sure what he was going to do and did not tell his teammates what they should do. He wanted to give Pat time to figure out a plan. Pat likely convinced Wade and Haslem to opt out so there would be money to upgrade the roster and give a reason for LeBron to stay. He likely promised Wade and Haslem that he would take care of them regardless. LeBron does not like Pat's plan and has decided on Cleveland. I assume Pat will stay true to word and none of the players will get screwed out of money.

Again the 24/7 news cycle social media age has destroyed try sports reporting to a degree. While it's great we can get information in a flash, it is insane the amount of pure nonsense and baseless stories we get now.

True old school guys don't go out and report like Stephen A Smith has, Even Brousard….man he is really going to have egg on his face. But he has maintained it is his gut feeling. No true knowledge.

Anyway…tonight. We really should get all the news tonight. I would think at this point.

Yep…he wants to play with Irving and Wiggins or Love not with Bosh and Wade.

Play with guys who

1. Have never finished a full NBA season (Irving)

2. Never played in the post season at all (all of them)

3. Never played in the league (Wiggins)

4. Coach who has zero experience in the NBA

5. Owner who never was able to give Lebron the needed role players around him

vs

1. Wade - 3 time champion multiple all-star future HOF

2. Bosh - 2 time champion multiple all-star future HOF

3. Pat RIley - premier GM/coach in the NBA

4. Micky Arison - Owner who basically has done everything he can to provide Lebron and Riley the needed support to go to the Finals 4 straight times.

Yeah ok. So you're saying Lebron is quiting on Bosh and Wade and Riley and all his other teammates.

Gotcha.

If he does. He is a dumb ###. But I think Lebron is a whole lot smarter than that and knows these next 2-4 years his best shot at getting to the Finals to attempt to win more rings and cement his legacy as well as Wade's and Bosh's (they are all in this together) is staying right here with his two/three time NBA championship teammates. So go ahead and keep drinking that Cleveland kool-aid….it's going to break your heart. History is being made down here. Not in Cleveland. They had their shot for 7 years. They blew it. Miami has delivered. Lebron has delivered too. But he needed Wade and Bosh and Riley and all his role players here. You can't do it alone. Cleveland is pie in the sky, Miami is proven $$$$

Take that to the bank.

Oh and this whole wants to go home schtick? LMFAO. He will have plenty of time to live in Akron after he is done with the business of winning titles here. By the time he retires…he can move back there full time…whatever. He also lives there in the off-season already. So enough already with going home.

At worst this is probably just a case of him simply not being able to make up his mind, and in that case he's actually done a pretty good job of not giving either side false hopes all things considered.

Yeah ok. So your saying Lebron is quiting on Bosh and Wade and Riley and all his other teammates.

Gotcha.

If he does. He is a dumb ###. But I think Lebron is a whole lot smarter than that and knows these next 2-4 years his best shot at getting to the Finals to attempt to win more rings and cement his legacy as well as Wades and Bosh's (they are all in this together) is staying right here with his two/three time NBA championship teammates.

Um....I don't think Bosh is a hall of famer.
He will end up there when it is all said and done. Decent shot at it. Whatever.

Much better than what they got up in Cleveland.

Yes, that's exactly what i'm saying. Similar to the Bills "taking care" of 4 straight superbowls.
you lost me.weren't you saying that Udonis was going to physically hurt LeBron for costing him money?
No? I just said I wouldn't want to have to go up to my friend, Haslem in this case, after I allowed him to opt out of guaranteed money if it weren't part of a bigger plan. Wade too, though I think Wade could make some of that money back (certainly not 2/42 like he had) either with the Heat or on the open market.Unless you're plugged in enough to suggest Haslem is getting his 4.6MM from somewhere else?

It's basically a lock because he keeps getting gifted AS appearances based on the Heat's performance. Enough of those, and you're in.

He's in. He may not pass the gut test yet, but when you add up his resume, he's already a lock.

It's not Lebron's fault the media and the rest of the NBA is all waiting on him. He's waited a couple days to decide where he'll spend the next 5 years of his life. Big deal.
Pretty sure all these hot sport takes is just what the media circle jerk is after.
