People will say you can get hurt at anytime. But if you are paying that much dough even a 5% more chance of injury is not acceptable. Not to mention wear and tear.
You can't have it both ways. You can't say extend playoffs runs wear players out and at the same time say tournaments like this are nothing because they would be playing anyways.
Not saying these type of tournaments are on par with NBA playoffs just that they are much more intense then working on your left hand/footwork during the summer.

Well crap, just saw it. Awful. And I agree with whoever was talking about the base of the hoop, that thing was sitting on top of the baseline. How could they set it up like that?

Spurs were already not allowing Ginobli to play FIBA World Cup (stress fracture).
Hope it doesn't get so extreme that the stars are prevented from playing the Olympics, but would completely understand GMs going that way. They own these players, literally.

Im sick to my stomach over that. Just....wow. That ranks right up there with Napoleon McCallum.
Who are the big stars that this has happened to? I know it is football, but Demaryius Thomas has definitely completely recovered. It's not basketball, but WR is a position that might be the most similar having to go up for balls.

In football Crabtree tore his Achilles... Looked decent when he came back last season, but looked a little slower.
Even though I kinda root for the Pacers, having lived in the neighborhood a while, I'm glad George got taken care of contract-wise before this happened. The team will hurt for it for a couple years, at least, but I'm happier as a fan knowing George was taken care of for all he gave the franchise the last few years.
Get well soon, PG. NBA doesn't have enough two-way studs.

Just mind boggling they chose to picked Collison over IT2 over what amounts to <$1.5 mil per year less. IT2 was one of the best bargain buys of the offseason.
Isaiah Thomas said he wants to "kill" Sacramento on the court when he plays them in the future.
"I tell everybody I love Sacramento, I always will love Sacramento, but when we play them I'm going to kill Sacramento," Thomas said. It's three weeks later and it still doesn't make sense that the Kings didn't bring Thomas back. They lost Stephenson, Paul George's career is over, but they still will be paying him big money. Bad time if you root for the Pacers.

I think there would be quite a market for hibbert. The guy got rattled when they added Bynum but that doesn't make him a bad player.

I'd think there's plenty of a market for Hibbert, and I doubt many will let his late season performance scare them off. The issue is fit. Very few teams ever want to have 2 bigs on the court at the same time where one is not a 3-point threat. I'm not sure if any of those teams have the roster or cap flexibility to pull it off.
Somebody will figure it out, but it won't be easy.

Isn't this basically what happened to Kelvin martin?
Dude was a monster until he broke his leg. Was a good player after the injury, but nowhere near as dominant. Not sure PG is big and strong enough to make the comeback that Martin did.

Maybe. But it is finally expiring. And they might even want to unload Hill's contract in the process.
Knicks have a some nice young pieces in Hardaway and Cleanthony. Not potential superstars, but decent young players on rookie contracts. Those are hard to come by and Pacers currently have none.
If there's nobody out there to give a Top 15-20 pick for the last year or 2 of Hibbert, Hardaway/Cleanthony aren't a bad return (not sure if the Knicks should even do that).
Tank a year, come back and rebuild around PG and some young assets.

Eric Bledsoe looking awful in his #####ing about being low balled with the Suns 4/48 offer.Same deal signed by Lowry. Parker just signed 3/43. And Bledsoe's less proven than both.

Not matter how good he looked when healthy (Suns were decidedly better when he played), he didn't stay healthy all year. 2 knee surgeries in 2 year span and teams aren't going to be banging on the door of an unproven commodity. He can try again in 2014-15 to stay healthy & perhaps he sees that max deal he wants.

Nah. He'll be back. How effective he is is a different story. Same injury as Anderson Silva and he'll be back fighting after about a year and a half.
Can't imagine he will. His game was 9/10 being quicker and more tenacious than other guys his size. No way he returns to being an elite defender, and I don't think his scoring was ever nearly polished and crafty enough for him to transition to an old man's game and keep it at a high level, Bernard King style.
I'll root like crazy for him to rehab and come back stronger than ever, but in my gut, I think he's done as relevant.
Lowry is 5 years older and hasn't exactly been a perennial all star either. I don't blame Bledsoe for angling for a big deal.
