NCAA Basketball Thread - 2022-3 Season (2 Viewers)

That was one of the best tourney games I've watched in a while.

Nowell is going to be a helluva pro.

Great game to watch!! State far exceeded season expectations and u can’t win a game playing zero Defense all game.

Nowell will be lucky if he is a rotation player in the league.

For sure, but guys like that are great in college ball, he tore up MSU and cost me some $$$.

Also it seemed like nobody on State wanted the last shot. Hauser had a chance but passed it.

I was very disappointed that Hauser passed up that last shot especially how well he played in the second half.
No dog in this fight so I enjoyed the game (UConn fan so was OK watching at half and beyond), but I thought the same thing. I felt bad for #2 getting stripped because 2 guys passed up better shots only to put him in a bad spot of having to shoot with someone right on him and being a couple feet behind the line.
I was good with Hall passing up the shot (too streaky), but that location was right in Joey's wheelhouse.
I don’t know MSU at all aside from them saying Hauser was solid from 3. I did notice him and the next guy putting #2 in a bad spot.

Rooting for the Pac-12's most storied and iconic basketball team to continue its dominance for the conference of champions. Tonight, everybody out west - out best - is an Aztec.
Sounds like we Oregon fans will be Big 10 fans in the near future when Oregon and Washington are added to the conference.

You always have better intel than me, so I'm hoping you are right about this. Otherwise, it's going to be pretty bleak out in the north west for football fans.

Where do you think WSU/OSU go? Mountain West?

By no means is it a slam dunk. There is a lot of smoke though and the rumor is once the new President of the Big 10 is in charge in April things could move fast. I am not sure about WSU/OSU but Mountain West makes sense.

I haven't watched the Florida Atlantic games closely, but shouldn't they be more of an underdog to Kansas State than 2 points?

Playing devil's advocate here since I dont know squat about Kansas State, but they needed overtime to beat a 7 seed, so a 2 point advantage against a 9 doesn't sound too horrible.

Got off to a nice start last night, but UCLA and TENN let me down in 2H. Tonight's card:

UNDER 139 HOU/MIA
Tex -2 1H
SDSU +4 1H
Princeton +5.5 1H

Fade away, boys.

I think I'm getting too cute tonight, so this will go badly - betting on efficient offense and defense. Probably shoulda split up Bama and Creighton into two separate bets, but c'est la'vie.

SDSU muddying up the game early then Miller takes over and Bama wins going away. The hedge is if Bradley and Trammell get hot from deep and they're able to shorten the game, but I don't think there's enough offense here for the upset.
Bama -5 Houston -5 +171 (dk boost)
Bama 1H Under 35.5 Over 69.5 Miller Over 25 P/R/A +330

I wanted to like Miami more, but didn't realize they only have 1 win over a Kenpom top 25 (at home) to go with 3 losses (2 blowouts). They have the firepower to keep pace (fun team), but think this defense may be too much for them. When healthy Sasser's been held under this number just once since Feb 5 and Miami's defensive efficiency is mediocre. Can upset, but Houston probably has to go cold.
Hou 1H Over 34.5 Sasser Over 17.5 pts +210

Betting on a fast start, leaning on the size advantage down low leading to open 3's later. There is some get ugly potential, but I was impressed with the grit of Princeton and think they could hang around enough to break the -10.
Creighton 1H -6 Over 74.5 Kalbrenner Over 15.5 +359

Don't have a good read on this so passing on the Bama + Texas ML fanduel boost. Leaning against the worse defensive team, but Xavier's veterans can shoot their way out of it. Not saying much given the spreads, but I think they're the clear best shot at an upset.
TX ML Over 1H 69.5 +175

Planning to live bet Texas/Xavier
based on the start - if Xavier falls behind take them + the number and if Texas falls behind then take the over as long as it isn't too high into the 150's.

Now, fade away...

Not sure if anyone else has ever noticed but Jim Spenarkel (color guy) says “Just then” all the time. For some reason it drives me nuts.

If Alabama loses and Kansas State makes a run to the title game it is going to look and awful lot like 2018 Michigan run before Villanova won it all.

Michigan and Kansas State both 3 seeds, beat 14's in round one, beat number 6 seeds in a close game in round 2, both beat number 7 seeds that beat 2 seeds in the sweet sixteen, would both beat 9 seeds to go to the final four. Michigan then faced an 11 seed to advance to the championship game and Princeton could pull the ultimate cinderella run and make it to a final four.

Houston can turn your lights out at any time but Norchad Omier #15 is making his presence felt again tonight
Miami has a fighting chance the rest of the way
Need to take it to the rack as often as possible

Just a reminder that Nate Oats said this about the murder of a young mother by one of his players and a star player who could have prevented her murder:

"Wrong place, wrong time".

**** you, Nate Oats. Karma got you. You deserve nothing but the worst.

Well said, I tried typing this out like 5 times and couldn't put it together this well.

Timmay gets saved

As Tom Izzo would say "They got lucky"

Toms comments did come off as sour grapes but Izzo was frustrated as this is one of the weakest fields ever for a sweet 16 and he felt if they won this game who knows? This MSU team has lost 13 games so it is not vintage but there are no vintage teams left. With Tom nearing the end of his career he this was probably his last chance and was a little bitter at the outcome.

While is is all true, he can't act this way. This isn't some small time school with a young head coach making their first run in the tourney and it maybe their only chance at a final four or a title. He has been here many, many times and more than his fair share of luck.

You are right. Never heard an old school HC say the other team was lucky before and was very surprised he did. It did not go unnoticed, and he took some heat today.
