NCAA Basketball Thread - 2022-3 Season (1 Viewer)

Miami looks out classed in this game. Texas seems to get anything they want and Miami is hitting some really tough shots to keep it around 10. Something has to change soon or this is going to get ugly.

Wow that call over the back with a minute left really changed the end of the game. That was far more questionable than the SDSU/Creighton finish

Nah, ya gotta make a play on the ball. Pretty amateur. That Texas player took some bad shots and missed a layup and...I feel bad for him this off-season. He's gonna overthink everything for sure

Let's go Miami!!

(My uncle is the coach)
Larranaga? Wow.

Really has had a great run at Miami, which when he took the job, it seemed like most people thought he wouldn’t work out so well but would be a nice payday for him.
Yep.
He's the nicest most wholesome guy. A huge sweetheart. When they were under FBI investigation I almost laughed at how absurd that was then realized bogus or not it was gonna hurt. The FBI would apologize to the university but...he had to rebuild anyway.

I was at a game in NJ during his last final four run in 1984. I was young and idk what game it was.

His son is an assistant on the Clippers. He was regularly the top NBA assistant with the Celtics but never got a HC job so he elected some change of scenery may help

Canes need to hit some of those 3s
Really surprising how few they took. They're very good from three. I was afraid that would bite them.
Texas Coach never pulled Carr off Wong and Wong was able to keep driving on him. Big mistake err gamble. Carr's a player no doubt but why not change up?

Maybe Texas was inviting the two so he wouldn't take the three? Idk

Been following Miami pretty close all year since I live about 10 minutes from their campus. Been able to see them 3-4 times in person this year (including the Duke win/drubbing at home) so I knew this run was possible.

They are consistent and don't get too emotional. That's the way they have played all year. That's part of Jim Larranaga's magic.

I hear the whole area is going nuts with both teams making it so far. That must be fun.

He's an outstanding defensive coach. Has a book or two and goes on yours teaching and speaking.
At times it's a challenge to get top HS players to come and commit to playing all out D. He's broke through that and could have a run here.

He'll have a lot of players interested in the transfer portal and idk that they have many seniors even. Wong might try to go pro again but, it doesn't seem unreasonable to project them strongly next year- already

Pack and Omier were critical pieces this year. Both of them came from the transfer portal. Pack came with an $800k NIL agreement also.

Ticker Tape Parade from Boca down thru Miami

Canes keep drawing the toughest teams, UCONN looks beastly and I keep thinking it's the end of the line
Jordan Miller is one bad ***
Perfect from the field and foul line, unstoppable
Norchad Omier made sure he was there when it counted
Miami front court comes thru once again.

Miller and Omier cobine for 36/12
Wooga Poplar 16/6 the unsung hero tonight
Wong and Pack were just OK

Same here, they've rarely been run off the floor this season.
Omier is the key, he weighs almost 250, no Texas starter was over 220, they had to shoot 3s
And Texas did all night long but at the end they started to come back to normal just a bit and Miami defense finally showed up

I thought it was crafty to rest Omier at different points so he was fresh at the end. He was totally gassed in the 1st Half

I think that's what it was- fine strategy once down to 4-5 mins or so, but they did it too early. I think it impacted their offense too. Miami staying patient and taking what they gave them is a testament to their disciplined approach.

Can you get us some autographs?

Pack is a RS-Sophomore and likely coming back since he's on the pay roll.
Wong is a Junior but is thought to be NBA material, 2nd Rd at best, he'd be better off squeezing Ruiz for more NIL money
Miami is making a name for themselves and they will attract even bigger names moving forward.
It's just not very tough to sell the amenities surrounding UM.

Miami Basketball 49 years, 6 NCAA tournaments
Under Jim Larranaga, 12 years 6 trips to the NCAA Tournament, Sweet 16, Elite-8 and now Final Four appearance
Love this man @Bri

Jordan Miller. Excellent clutch free throws. Incredible to take twenty shots and not miss.
Still! I can't put that up as one of the best games ever in NCAA history and....I almost feel guilty.
I just did not feel like he dominated or was taking over the game or whatever expression.
Statistically, no doubt one of the best games ever

Pack makes 800k.
I don't think he's an NBA draft talent (two rounds, top 50 w 14 foreign) so I can't imagine why he doesn't return.
Wong wasn't NBA material when he declared last year and lost NIL $. He struggled in one game of playoffs and has done pretty well since.
I love the kid but he's gotta average 20-25 for the NBA. See Mac McClung and others "dying" for a chance to play in the bigs. His game is very nice complimentary supportive. He's not an alpha so it's looked at differently.

Jim is such a good good guy. He often plants a kiss on his player:s head when they're being interviewed. There's lot of stories about teachers/professors involved with players. He sets them up so we'll, he truly cares. What parent isn't going to recommend going to play for him?

I bet they get tagged (idk word or term or...) In the transfer portal from most everyone. Like you said, Miami is a location people covet so add the rest and they look so attractive.

Did I mention Harden practices there in the summer? 🙂

Anywho...he won't take trouble and he won't take guys that won't commit to D. Did ya see Wooga apologize for spilling water as he crashed into the reporters table? I bet he spams people with that- this is the kids I want

:lmao:

Do you think Harden gets kisses, too? Because that would make the most sense about why he posts up in Miami in the summer; not the clubs, women, weather, beaches, etc. Gotta be the forehead kisses from an old man.

UCONN won their 4 games by an average of 22 1/2 points. I would like any team but them to pull it off, only because none of them have before, but I just don't see that happening.

So I got a 1,000 signup bonus from MGM this weekend. However, I need to put that deposit on something and it can't be split up. It has to be ONE bet. I guess hoops is my best chance. Or, possibly the Masters and a top 10 finish pick would be fun, although much more difficult. But the difference in odds significant.

I think UCONN to win it all at -125 is the bet, but would love to hear from some of the experts here on why to bypass that.

For example, if I lose the bet, they re-fund the account with a grand, so one could make the argument of rolling the dice on one of the three remaining dogs, which are currently between +370 (SDSU), +500 (Miami) and +600 (FAU). Of those, I lean Miami at that price. 5 point dogs to UCONN. They win that and you've got the favorite to win it all at 5-1.

Lol nah.
It's just....parents worry of kids in a big city, traveling, having all those money and then there's gotta be this pause- wow he really does care about my boy. I'm sure they appreciate it

Austin Carr in 1970, 1st round of Tournament. 61 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 to, 1 pf https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/boxscores/1970-03-07-notre-dame.html

Decided I'm not going with a favorite on the MGM "free money bonus thing". Need to swing for the fences, or at least extra bases. It's either Miami in the tourney or I'm hitting up the Masters thread for a top 10 pick that would pay well. Also, there should be ample innernet golf expurt articles to help roll the dice.

If you put the $1000 on UCONN and they win, how much do you make?
