I don't get the love for Bill Walton as an announcer. He doesn't know anything (just admitted he had no idea who Nate Oats and Buffalo are) and just acts like a fool during the game. He makes it all about him. I can't stand listening to him. Reminds me of Dickie V.

At least dickie v doesnt talk about owls or pine trees that have needles you can wipe your butt with.

UMBC playing like crap today.

So far teams 0-2 against another team are bucking the stats in the third meeting. Teams 0-2 lose over 70% of the time in the third meeting. Seems they  are winning most of them in these tourneys.

What is the logic of taking the ball just past half court and dribbling the shot clock down to 6 seconds and then trying to drive when there are 5 minutes left in the first half?

Big shocker but the end result was a turnover.

I think my favorite part was Bruce Pearl's interview after the game.

"I told Bryce Brown to foul if the 2nd free throw was missed so they couldn't attempt a 3.  I didn't think I needed to call a timeout to tell him.  He was standing right in front of me, I could talk to him.  I assumed he knew to do it in the backcourt.  But he waited way too long and then, obviously (chuckles/laughs) there was a lot of contact on that last shot.  I just wanted to let all the fans out there know, we coaches really aren't stupid.  I didn't mean for him to do THAT."

I don't think Wojo liked that call. :lmao:
What a terribly officiated game. SH is a bunch of thugs. Powell should have been ejected way earlier and then the joke of letting him back in the game was a joke as well, second technical, how was he not ejected?

John  was rightfully ejected, but Anim getting ejected was laughable.

The officiating was horrible bth ways. The Technical for hanging on the rim was hilarious.  Markus Howard disappeared again in a big game, something becoming too typical.

Marquette should get a 6 at least, but if they don't choke away those 4 losses they should have been a 3

Among bigs who are supposed to be good, Ethan Happ may be the worst finisher around the basket I've ever seen.
not being able to leave the floor really hurts his game. i'd be curious what a doctor might say about his leg muscles and why they don't work to assist him in leaping. it's remarkable.

How about he stop spinning the freaking ball on his hooks? Bruno Fernandez does it, too, and it drives me crazy.

Happ gets himself in good position to score, but he keeps throwing curve balls at the rim.

Marquette was as thuggish as Seton Hall was, my friend.

That said, I agree that the refs lost control of the game.

when these analysts reference "quad 1" or "quad 2"...what rankings are those quads based on RPI, Kenpom, BPI???

I understand the quadrant concept, just don't understand which rankings they're using to determine the quadrants.

I assume its the NET rankings. That seems to be the "official" NCAA one.

Barnes out coached Cal. Going to the zone changed that game, as did ordering his kids to get Williams the ball in the post. I had $ on UK but happy for the Vols.  Win tomorrow and they are for sure a 1.

Let Zion dunk more
I don’t understand why they don’t pass it to Zion in the post on EVERY SINGLE POSSESSION. Duke can’t shoot from the perimeter like they historically are known for. And there isn’t anyone that can stop him around the basket.

Regardless of what happens next week, this Buffalo team is the first MAC team ever to win 31 games, first MAC program to win 4 titles in 5 years, the longest-running ranked streak for a MAC team ever, and the highest ranked MAC team in close to 50 years.

Program loses 5 seniors, including the best and arguably-second-best players in program history, so next year will be down, but they're stocked with a couple of 3* and 4* guys, two solid JuCos coming in, and a double-digit-scorer transfer.  If Nate Oats stays - big if - this train could keep rolling.

No matter what happens, it's been one hell of an unforgettable run this year.

Matchups dont matter, I'm picking them to at least the sweet 16. They arent always better than the competition for the first 35 minutes, but they are always better the last 5.

Someone else besides Barrett has to step up on offense, typically - today it was Jones.  But I thought FSU (your team, right?) played really well.  Much more impressed with them than UVa.
Yea they’re my team. Missed a lot of open shots but duke’s second half defense was awesome.

Great game tonight.  BG is the only MAC team this year who had the horses to hang with UB offensively and generally athletically.  Turner is a future MAC POY candidate, and I love Frye's game.  Falcons will be right back in the mix next year for sure.

Kinda like last year, this year has shown again that the best way to beat UB is to beat them at their own game.  Out-athlete them, and be able to match them offensively basket-for-basket.  BG's offense can do that for 40 minutes.

UB has the talent to make a run this year.  They also have the inconsistency to make a first-round exit.  A clutch do-it-all superstar, a very solid big man scorer, a pure shooting wing, and a bunch of other assorted pieces.  3 (maybe 4) very fringe NBA guys who'll probably end up in Europe.  The makeup is there for a few upsets.
