Pitt underachieves in the tourney every year, not sure the last time they even made the Sweet 16, probably when they had Dejuan Blair and Sam Young and lost in the E8 on a Scotty Reynolds buzzer beater, so around 08 or 09 I guess.

So with all that in mind, it would be ironic if this year with a team of Patterson, Zanna, and a bunch of nobodies they continue to overachieve and beat the overall 1 seed.

Niang broke his foot. Huge blow for Iowa State.
This sucks, not because I picked them to go far in my brackets - well, a little because of that - but mostly because they were likely to cruise to the Elite 8 and with Niang, Ejim, and Kane they had the offensive firepower to have a great shot at beating any team, especially a likely MSU or UVA in the E8. Besides Wichita St, they were probably the team I was most interested to see make a run.

Not like theyre dead in the water now but I have trouble seeing them go further than the E8 without Niang.

Brad's Breathtaking Bracket is the only bracket that can still win the $1B. He got them all right. Bad break for him though. He has Iowa St. going to the elite 8.

How long can Pittsburg hang close? Looking like the game may start to get away from them.
I'd say they'll hang close b/c of their defense. Gators have more offense so they can probably extend it to a 6-10 point lead in the 2H but Pitt will always be within a few possessions.

He didn't enter it into the challenge so he can't win.
Wow. What a #######. It was free. :lmao: Rooting for him!
Hey at least he won't be getting all of those Quicken Loans e-mails. Probably comes out ahead no matter what.

Pitt seemed content to lose by 10.

Interesting year with teams like Florida and UVA being so slow. The faster teams aren't great but will be interesting to see Florida/UCLA or UVA/Nova. The slower teams just grind out victories and before you know it, you are down 10. Probably have to get ahead of them quick by the 3 and hope they can't catch up.

Don't you just love having to wait SIX HOURS before there's a second game available during the extra-long commercial breaks?

I love Charles Barkley speaking his mind. "I want Wichita State to stick it to the NCAA selection committee!" I agree.

Charles is great that he brings a fresh point of view to the show.

And Kellog being the voice of reason saying that the committee didn't screw Wichita State over. I'd like to see Wichita State do well and think they will, but this whole bracket thing is contrived.

Didn't seem like that long ago that the round of 32 games on Sunday, were all over by 8 pm ET. Now they have games starting at 9:40, stupid.

Stick it to them for making them a #1 seed and letting them play in nearby St Louis?
Kentucky is the best #8/#9 seed, should have been a #5/6 seed. Louisville/Michigan State are as good as any #2 seed. Michigan is the best #2 seed, and was probably the last team out of getting a #1 seed. So yes, they got screwed. By far the worst path of any real contender to the final 4 and that should not be the case for a #1 seed.

Really? The selection committee loaded their bracket! By far the strongest! By FAR
By far? According to what metric? Florida just had to beat the #17 KenPom team. Arizona has to beat the #19 KenPom team. So playing the #14 KenPom team in Kentucky isn't that much stronger.

They have Louisville as their 4 but UVA has MSU as their 4. Their #3 is already out and they have the weakest #2.

You realize they don't have to play all teams right? For instance Duke is already out.

People act like they have to take out all 15 teams themself. 16 seed - overrated Kentucky - Louisville - Michigan isn't the end of the world.

Well Michigan is the best #2 according to who? Being the last team out of a 1 seed is using the selection committee criteria makes Louisville/MSU 4 seeds. You just can't argue it both ways. If Louisville/MSU are 2 seed caliber, than Michigan is actually 4 seed caliber (at least according to KenPom).

Kentucky might be the best 8/9 but the gap between them, Oklahoma State, Gonzaga, and Pitt isn't nearly as big as some point out.

And at the end of the day, if you want to be the best team, you have to beat some good teams. If Wichita State is as good as advertised, they'll win these games. If not, they'll lose. Maybe an easier draw gets them further but it doesn't change the end result which is a loss.

No, but in all likelihood they will have to play Kentucky-Louisville-Michigan. Nobody will have three harder games.

Stop with this logic

Kentucky is the best 8/9 seed. That's highly debatable. That's the same Kentucky team that was tied with Georgia in the SEC standings. Same Kentucky team that lost to South Carolina in March.

Michigan St is good but they are only 8-6 in their last 14 games. Hardly a team that is "2 seed caliber".

Michigan is the best #2 seed. Pretty sure that is Kansas if Embiid was definitely playing. Villanova would have been a #1 seed before Michigan before both last in their conference tournaments. And Wisconsin is no slouch either.

Pitt - UCLA - Kansas

Here are the average KP ratings of the 4 #1 team draws assuming chalk holds the rest of the way.

Wichita State - .913

Florida - .8943

Arizona - .8867

UVA - .8747

So yes, Wichita State has the hardest path but it isn't that unfair.
