Both games down to the wire and the place starts shaking. Friggin earthquake. As if the end of those games wasn't intense enough.

Michigan's potential road to final four - 15/7/11/8
I imaging they wish someone other than Kentucky were awaiting.
I don't know - its the Elite 8. You are going to play someone good. Why not a bunch of freshman?

That doesn't at all mean MI will win. Just that ... I mean, its the Elite 8. Of course you are going to play a good team.
Uconn or Stanford would probably be a little easier but your point is well taken. I happen to think Kentucky is playing really well and showing tremendous maturity - they've clawed back out of holes and made their free throws.

Now watch me jinx them.

Am I the only one that thinks missing that free throw on purpose is stupid? If you make it at worst you can do is tie.
It was the right decision.
I am not trying to be mean, but please explain why. With 1.4 seconds left you are pretty much guaranteed a half court shot at best, and I understand the odds of making it are slim but if you they get lucky and make that shot at least you are in overtime instead of going home.

Because rebounding takes time. The shot they did get up wouldn't have counted if it had gone.

Laettner shot took 2.1 seconds and he dribbled. You could throw the ball the length of the court and get a decent shot off. Missed FT, team has to gather the rebound, which could go anywhere, and try to push the ball up. Can't set up a play and many times players aren't ready for it b/c instincts tells them to touch it as quick as possible.

What are the odds of getting a decent shot off? Sure we have seen a few but not many and still at worst you are going to overtime.

By the way if Kentucky wins Sunday they will have knocked off 3 of the teams from last years final four in 3 straight games.

down goes the riverbillies. go big blue. the freshman are more than man enough against the seniors of l,ville. I love it. cal is god and the rest of you can kiss his ....

inbound play where someone breaks free and gets a clean look.. That aint happening with 1.4 seconds off a miss

If you miss on purpose and hit the rim that's ideal. If the hoos guy hits the 70 footer, more power to him. My worry would be clanging the intentional miss off the backboard and giving virginia the ball out of bounds down 2.

Not if they make the free throw, they are up 3 with 1.4 left.
100% agree with the miss. There.

100% agree with Trice starting over Appling on Sunday too

I'm assuming Julius Randle has elicited Zach Randolph comparisons? Looks like a clone to me.
Pretty good comparison although he has more range and is quite a bit more athletic (although Randolph was too at this age)
Good point. Can you think of a better NBA comp?
Upside: Chris webber (cal really kept him close to the basket but he has much better handles and range then shown much of the year)Medium: Antonio mcdyess, Randolph without the braun. (So, Joe smith)

Unexpected downside: Terrence jones. (Randle is a better rebounder inside but jones has 3 pt range)

Joe Smith the guy who shoots 30% from 3 pt line???

That would be "downside". Yes.

So you have Randolph as his floor? That's high praise.

ETA: Full disclosure: Abe edited his post. Randolph was in the "downside" category earlier.

I think randle can be a special player. Best player on a contender (webber) seems like a bit of a stretch at the moment but " #2 that punishes teams who focus on the 1" like Randolph seems reasonable. Failing that a very strong third man like mcdyess is about as bad as I see him being.

Let's say Orlando picks third. He isn't going to make them contenders the way Parker or wiggins would. But boston at 4 with a committed rondo on board? In Sacramento next to cousins? Those teams get good in a hurry with a player of his caliber.

UKs size finally wore Louisville down.
Really impressed with your boys right now. Talk about peaking at the right time. Most of the season they looked like a talented, yet flawed young team. Now they have the feel of a team with the Valvano/NC State magic. The next game with the Wolverines should be terrific.

They sure do manage to hit almost all of their second half free throws, don't they?
