Oregon is blitzing UCLA in Pauley right now.  Bruins play less than no D.  They'll be lucky to get to the Sweet 16 given their inability to get a stop.

There was a scene just now straight out of a slapstick movie -UCLA cheerleader falls during a stunt and hits her head.  They attend to her and some guy picks her up to carry her off the court.  Guy is moving pretty quick and falls while carrying her and lands on top of her.  I wanted to laugh but was worried she's hurt.  They said she got up and walked away on her on but that was crazy.

I hope she's OK. I love the reactions when the dude drops her. All of the female cheerleaders drop their jaw.

Just saw some statistics on average attendance at SEC games when UK is in town.  On average, there has been an increase of nearly 3500 for home games vs. UK compared to home games against any other team.  Biggest bumps were at South Carolina and Tennessee (+6000 at each).

I'm sure it is the same way with Kansas and maybe Duke or UNC, although the ACC is more consistently loaded at the top so maybe not quite as much of an effect for any one school.  Others?

Back in the day Kansas was the game Colorado would always sell out. Granted a lot of KU fans in attendance.

Kentucky does travel well in basketball but this isn't exactly accurate anymore. Maybe 2 or 3 years ago when we sucked this may have been the case but not now and not last year when we played you in the CLA. During Frank Martin's first year or 2 the CLA looked like a ghost town. Dawn Staley and the girls were averaging more per game. Last season we averaged 12,000 a game and 6,500 more would put the CLA above capacity. I was at the most attended game in CLA history and it wasn't last years Kentucky /Carolina game. Attendance is up even more this year so your news is at least 2 years old.

Gonzaga at St Mary's tonight!  The WCC version of Duke/NC! ?

Pretty fired up to see if my boys can keep the streak up and hold on to #1 a bit longer.  Gaels' Aussie Posse is always tough and if they get hot from outside we are in trouble.

Cant wait to hear the narrative if they win that St. Mary's wasn't that good anyway or if they lose, that it proves they aren't legit.

I obviously didn't collect the data myself, but it would appear to be fairly easy to get.  That data is actually 3 year averages from 15/16, 14/15, and 13/14. And the bump for SC has actually been bigger the past 2 years than in 13/14 (arena expansion? idk?)

In each of the last 2 years, SC averaged 11,880 and 11.662 in home games not involving UK (up from 9725 in 13/14).  The UK games had listed attendance of 18000 in each of those seasons

Thornwell picking up where he left off Tuesday night scoring the Gamecocks 1st 10 points. As I said earlier, he should win the SEC POTY no question about it.

3rd in scoring, 4th in boards, 1st in steals. Nobody else hits top-5 in 3 categories.

Monk is the leading scorer, but he doesn't do much in any other column.

Yante Maten has a very similar resume to Thornwell's. I suspect that Thornwell is leading a contender would help him in the H2H match up.

umm....St. Mary's doesn't look very good

not necessarily a knock on the zags, but a win in this one isnt going to change many opinions

Amazing comeback in Lawrence tonight.  KU was down 14 to West Virginia with 3 minutes left.  Now are up 5 in OT with the ball.
That isn't saying much.  Every time WVU cracks the top 10, it is a guarantee that they lose either of the next two games and most of the time it is the very next game.

Florida's John Egbunu went down with a knee injury in the first half and did not return. Potentially a very big deal for a UF team that doesn't have a ton of size. They had to give big minutes tonight to a guy whose only real basketball skill is being 6'10".

On the plus side, 7 wins in a row and tonight they put up their highest point total ever in an SEC game.

@PlasmaDogPlasma, nice win tonight.  That along with Kentucky winning means we have to win tomorrow night vs Arkansas  to keep pace. Our problem is that we don't have a consistent scorer we can rely on besides Thornwell.  Dozier could be that guy but his game is a little off lately. I think he still has back issues. He was held out against Kentucky with back spasms and really hasn't been right since.

Reports today that uconn is trying to leave the american for the big east. Only thing holding them back is what to do with the football program (they should fold it). Will be interesting, they should definitely be in a better hoops league.

@Bruce Dickinson  congrats?

STAFF AND SPECIAL REPORTS

Kentucky fans have long been known for being among the loudest anywhere. Now they have the world record to prove it.

With a representative from the Guinness Book of World Records in attendance, the crowd at Rupp Arena set a world record for the loudest indoor crowd cheer when it was measured at 126.4 decibels just before tip-off of the Wildcats’ matchup with Kansas on Saturday.

Two more attempts to break the newly set record were to be made later in the game.

Allen Fieldhouse broke this record on Monday night as the teams took the court for tipoff.  130.4 dB.

You guys keep raising the stakes and pretty soon college basketball games will have closed captioning on by default.
The loudest in-game experience at Allen is believed to be Mizzou's last visit in 2012.  KU came back from 19 down in the second half, tied it up with about 15 seconds left, and won the game in OT.  When the comeback got going, the crowd got so loud Mizzou couldn't hear the playcalls from the bench, and then the crowd got even louder and Mizzou players on the court couldn't hear their own PG call plays.  The drums section leader of the KU pep band said he was having trouble hearing the band at times because the crowd was so loud.  The loudest spontaneous moment was at the end of regulation: on Mizzou's last possession Thomas Robinson blocked a last-second shot to secure the tie and send the game to OT.  The crowd reaction to that block was the loudest it had ever been inside the building until the Guiness record-break attempt on Monday night.

Was that part of the video you posted the other day?

Huge win for Arkansas' tourney chances.

ITZ, even though I was rooting for the Hogs I felt your pain on that Watkins answered prayer.
Yeah that sucked.  We are really trending the wrong way at the moment. Even our wins are a struggle. If we are playing like this next week in Gainesville we will get run out of the building.

That was a big win for the Hogs.

All for this. Let the football team go independent, better to have them playing a bunch of teams that nobody cares about than the basketball team.

just play umass 12 times a year.  problem solved.  next.

@PlasmaDogPlasma

You'll be happy to know that it's pretty much a 2 man race for the SEC regular season. There's something internally going on with the South Carolina program and I don't know if or when it's gonna be fixed. Coach Martin walked out of practice last Monday for the 2nd time in his career due to the performance of the team.

The team held a players only meeting yesterday which hopefully rights the ship. I guess we'll find out tonight @ Vandy.

Florida was having internal issues and on a losing streak, so they had a team meeting where they cleared the air. Then they went on their current 7-game winning streak during which they're mostly burying teams. So the sky might not be totally falling for the Gamecocks.

Everything was already set up in UK's favor though, with SC going to Gville and UF going to Lexington next week, plus the loss of Egbunu.
