Only 10 games today are available to watch today for me. I don’t get the ACC Network.

Tomorrow, it all kicks into high gear, though.

Creighton's Marcus Zegarowski has officially been ruled out for the entire Big East tournament. The Jays remain hopeful that he'll be available to play in the NCAA tournament

I couldn’t hate the stuff that these teams wear on the bench any more. At first look, they’re actually cool stuff. In fact, a few years back, I bought some UC gear. That when I realized that every school has the exact same thing. That is beyond dumb.

Day 7 is done.  I'm a little under the weather, so thing moved slowly for me last night and this morning.

We are now down to 12 teams left that could end their streak of never making it to the tourney.  Purdue-Fort Wayne and Elon lost yesterday.

And we are now down to 24 teams that have not made it to the tourney this century.  Eastern Michigan (1998) and San Francisco (1998) also lost.

19 games tonight.  St. Francis(PA) plays in the NEC championship game tonight.  They are the first team within a win to break a streak.  They last made the Big Dance in 1991.

The ACC, MAAC, MEAC, and SWAC all start their tourneys tonight.  Also, the Ivy League cancelled their tourney due to the coronavirus, so Yale gets the auto bid.

You probably mentioned it at some point, but what’s your deal with this? Has this been something you’ve been interested in for a while? How did you come to start tracking this?

 Genuinely curious.

I've always enjoyed statistical things in sports.  One of the main reasons I love baseball so much.  But on top of that, I love rooting for the underdogs.  I guess those two things just led to this.  Each year, I'd watch the conference tourneys and someone would win and they'd say, "This is their first trip ever to the Big Dance."  And I found that fascinating.  So I started to put together lists and keep track of how each school was doing.  I've been tracking these lists for about 15 years now.  It was much harder when I first started, but now it's just a matter of updating my spreadsheets.  Don't get me wrong, I know it's weird.  My wife and daughter make fun of me for it relentlessly.

Day over and we've finally reached the heart of Championship Week.

We are now down to 10 teams left that could end their streak of never making it to the tourney.  Maryland- Eastern Shore and Grambling both lost.

And we are now down to 19 teams that have not made it to the tourney this century.  Fairfield (1997), St. Francis (PA) (1991), Canisus (1996), Howard (1992), and Marist (1987) all lost, as well.

34 games tonight.  10 conferences begin tonight.

Hartford did win last night moving them to the America East Finals. They are one of the 10 teams looking to get to the Big Dance for the first time.

The NCAA Tournament will lose a lot of it's excitement if they play in empty arenas. That's a huge part of the college atmosphere.
I'm trying to think how it would change things from a betting angle.  I guess any team that had slight home field advantage by being in the same region would see that negated.

CBS Sports is reporting that there should be a statement regarding the status of the NCAA Tournament within the next hour, and that total cancellation is a possibility.

This would be such a horrible overreaction.  Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

No it wouldn’t be.
Unless there are a lot of players over the age of 60 or suffering from heart issues, yes, it would be.  It would be like cancelling the tournament because a certain amount of people would die on the way to the games in car accidents.

Do you think these players have susceptible family members or nah

And your second point is so ridiculous I won’t even address it. Come on man.

What's the liability if a player has it then plays in a game and infects the whole team?  All while damn near every other event in the country is being cancelled.

I mean, these are kids we're still talking about and all.

Emmert announces no fans at any games just now. Essential team personnel only throughout the tournament.

Yet the B1G soldiers on with their tourney tonight with fans.

This is going to be so bizarre. You're going to be able to hear every shoe squeak, every coach instruction.  Are they gonna put it on a delay so we dont hear players cursing?

Absolutely get why they're doing it, but its going to be surreal, especially at the regionals/final 4 in the huge arenas.

I also have to think that it will play in favor of the higher seeds, as we wont get that "crowd rallies around the underdog once they see an upset in the making"  factor. I imagine the teams with fanbases that REALLY travel (like Kentucky anywhere or Duke if they made it to the eastern regional at MSG) also lose a bit of an advantage.

Just a crazy time to be alive.

I remember this same fear when Magic wanted to play with AIDS.  How could we possibly play with someone like that?

This virus is going to be about 2 or 3 times more deadly than the flu. That would put it at .2 or .4. If we don’t shut down the games for the flu, than this shouldn’t either.

Man I can’t even.

Bummer.  He got injured right at the end of their win over Hall when the game was already decided.  They are a fun team, and he's a big part of that.

Not sure about this.  I bet a lot of players of players feed on crowd energy, it's not just the underdogs.  This is going to feel more like 10 guys playing pick up ball in a gym.
