Ndamukong Suh faces NFL discipline (1 Viewer)

Suh is just an easy target now.

Where is the outrage over Deangelo Halls cheap shot on D-Jax? Horsecollered him 5 yards OB. Clay Matthews? It is a violent game played at a fast pace. For all of the faux outrage about Suh he has never injured another player in his NFL career. Warren Sapp injured many a player and he just got elected into the HOF...now Sapp would not make it through a full season without being suspended.

The play was a 15 yard penalty that cost the Lions 7 points...really it was a 14 point swing because the Vikings went down and scored. That should have been the end of the story. If Ziggy Ansah did it it probably would not even have been called.
Hall deserves a substantial fine. Mathews was reckless, and very dramatic, but not half as dirty or dangerous. A small fine maybe. The real shame was the refs calling off-setting penalties on that play.

Suh is the topic of and target of this thread because he has a history of these tactics, and because the general impression given is that he LIKES hurting people. Right or wrong, many believe that if not for the NFL Suh would almost certainly be a gangster rotting in jail.
:lmao:

Jay Glazer is reporting no suspension for Suh but he wil be fined.

The play was a legal textbook block forever until this season and players have been coached forever to block this way...players need to be retrained.
mike florio today said at no time when suh has played in any level was his block legal

Was the attempted cut block by David DE Castro that took out Maurkice Pouncey legal? I think it was, but perhaps cheap shot in nature despite general acknowledgement that the Steelers really couldn't practice that blocking technique in practice.

I ask since reputation is earned know the NFL. Suh with his repeated transgressions is being dealt his punishment as a repeat offender. Did DeCastro & the Steelers tarnish theiron reputation similarly? In some regards perhaps they learned a costly lesson that dirty play comes at a price.
Cut blocking an adjacent OL, even if he's engaged, is not only legal but a staple of zone blocking schemes. It's dangerous and, IMO, very cheap but, sadly it is currently legal.
Going low on a defensive player while he is engaged with another offensive lineman is a chop block and is illegal. 15 yard personal foul.
Yep. I thought everyone knew that.

war
Not true.

Article 3: Chop Block
A Chop Block is a block by the offense in which one offensive player (designated as A1 for purposes of this rule) blocks a defensive player in the area of the thigh or lower while another offensive player (A2)
engages that same defensive player above the waist.
Legal Chop Blocks.
A Chop Block is a legal block in the following situations on Running Plays.
(a)
A1 and A2, both offensive linemen, who are initially aligned adjacent to each another on the line of scrimmage, may chop a defensive player.
(b)
A1 and A2, both offensive linemen, who are initially aligned more than one position away from each other on the line of scrimmage, may chop a defensive player when the flow of the play is toward the block.

A1 is lined up in the backfield at the snap and subsequently chops a defensive player engaged above the waist by A2, and such block occurs outside the area originally occupied by the tight end on either side

The block would have been illegal on a passing play, but it's legal on running plays as shown above.
