Need a diagnosis - fainting spells (1 Viewer)

Every couple of years I go through about a 15-20 minute "episode" where I get extremely dizzy and usually pass out for about a minute. It's always after:

1) haven't eaten much recently

2) dehydrated

3) just exerted myself physically.

I can also feel it coming about 5 minutes previously. Cold sweats, nauseau, etc. Wondering if this is just "fainting spells" or it's something else specific. I also also have low blood pressure, it runs in the family.

Thanks for any help.

P.s. It's not ball cancer

Haven't you been to a doctor? Seems like that might be a preffered avenue over a fantasy football message board to seek a medical diagnosis.

I know hospitals take passing out very very seriously. You should get checked out.

you definitely need to check your facts out before posting this nonsense in here.

my wife recently passed out after she sprained her ankle. The paramedics said it was because she went into shock from the pain. He said people pass out like that when their blood pressure drops. Pretty sure drops in blood pressure cause vertigo too.

Same thing happened to my step dad - turned out his blood pressure was too low and the doctor told him to eat more salt.

No shtick, I'd go to a doctor... Driving can be real dangerous if this is an ongoing thing.
i have mentioned it to my GP, he suggested a few possibilities and some tests that he could run, but I didn't follow up. It happens so rarely it doesn't bother me that much, but I am curious. And I can always tell its coming far enough ahead to pull off the road of I'm driving, although it never has. It ALWAYS follows physical exertion.

next time you have a vasovagal attack you really need to talk to your doctor again. If he won't tell you anything find another one.

had one a few years ago...eating ice cream and got the worst brain freeze ever...stood up really quick, got really nauseous and collapsed.woke up about a minute later drenched in sweat.

my GF called 911 and they checked me out. whet to the doctor and he said due to my normally low blood pressure i stood up too fast and my BP fell too fast.

This happened to my dad last weekend. My mom called 911 and the ambulance took him to the ER. Not sure what triggered it though. He was painting indoors most of the day and had been working excessive hours lately. Maybe stress?

One time, several years ago I was sitting in my chair at work. All of a sudden I feel "out of it" the way you feel if you get a concussion. Then nausea. Lasted for about a minute then completely went away. I'm not dead yet, so I figure it was nothing.

Long QT Syndrome?

My wife and son have it.
damn- that's some scary stuff cheesey.
Yes it is. Luckily, they seem to have a very benign version as neither have ever exhibited any symptoms. Was very scary when first diagnosed about 8 years ago (son was 10 and wife late 30's). A nephew had an episode at birth that led to the whole family getting tested. My son, my wife, father in law, brother in law, nephew and a sister in law all were diagnosed. They suspect, but have been unable to confirm through genetic test, the family has LQT3, a non lethal version.

My son never had any restrictions other than no football, basketball or swimming (competitive), very limited caffeine and chocolate. We used to carry an AED with us when he played sports (soccer and baseball). Thankfully he never needed it.

do people bring you to by patting the back of your hand like in old school movies when women fainted all the time?

Didn't scroll the entire thread but I had a similar issue, I was diagnosed with Neuromediatehypotension, in a nutshell low blood pressure and low heart rate. I cut my caffeine intake, increased sodium intake, usually gatorade, and take one of those tiny aspirins a day. Haven't had an issue in over 3 years

prior to the changes, how often did it occur?
