Need Advice - Do I call BS on the commish? (1 Viewer)

Always discuss with league mates first before blasting the Commish. I thought something shady was going on once, talked it over with a league mate and found out there was a reason behind it.

Yeah, in this day and age of texting and social media, it should be easy for anyone to let the commish AND their opponent know of any lineup changes (in the event that they can't get online to change it themselves in time).
You'd be surprised. During the snowstorm in CT a couple weeks ago, many entire towns were without power for a week. In my town, we had no power, no internet, no cell towers, etc. At the worst point, it was a 10 minute drive just to make a cell call.

I would say it depends... I know my league has a rule where if the owner cannot be by a computer in time to change the lineup, the owner can leave a voicemail on my cell phone with the player change. I make the move for them (even after the game started) as long as I have a phone call before the kickoff of the game.

Definitely have to ask the question, but there could be a reason it was done after the fact. My 2 cents...
This would be my first inclination not to be a part of this league. All sorts of gray areas with this rule.
Been running this league for 15 years and never had an issue with it. Basic rule is deal with integrity, and the fact that as Commish I keep all recordings for the entire season, so if anyone doubts it I can play it for them with the automated timestamp. The reality is we're a bunch of old guys and not everyone has smart phones or they are doing family stuff on Sunday afternoons, so being by the computer and waiting to see the latest news isn't always the priority. For me, we all enjoy the league and as Commish I take it as my responsibility to ensure the league runs smooth and even dealing with the minor stuff. In regards to the other posts earlier, we do similar items where we ask the other owner to tell his opponent what's up if it's a call in. To each their own though.
I'd also add that it has to do with the integrity of the owners as well, not just the Commish. Been in one league for well over 10 years where many of our owners are military who are forward-deployed is some of the s***-boxes of the world, so making a last-minute change just before kick-off is not always possible despite the latest technology. We allow e-mail and phone call / text / Skype / word-of mouth if necessary changes in this instance and evaluate "suspect changes" on a case-by-case basis. We also will consider putting it to a league vote if it is "that" questionable even though we are under no written obligation to do so. Can remember a new (non-military in this case - not that it matters) owner calling foul on every move (not to mention b####ing about league finances) - as long as the desired result improved HIS bottom line. He didn't see a follow-on season. Nor did he win anything either - it was much ado about nothing in the end.

With that said though back to the origianl post, I would simply question the Commish about the move (and the rules you signed off on by joining the league), and if you are still not happy with the response, ask to put it to a league vote. If the league is legit, you will find an acceptable answer one way or another. If not, press on and don't return next season. Simple as that.

Side note: Do we need to ask the mods to create a FF League Technical Dispute forum? Seem to be seeing a lot of this in the Shark Pool even though my thinking is that this stuff really belongs in the Assistant Coach Forum. Just a thought.

Edit to clarify.
