(This is a historical vignette, but I've always thought that I got screwed over. Now I bring my case to the masses. So anyway, don't get confused by the talk of a championship game--this case didn't happen this season).
League of friends, nominal entry fee, league run on Yahoo. Commissioner's brother is also in the league. As scoring decisions and other controversies came up through the season, the commissioner religiously said things like, "Look, however Yahoo scores it, that's how we'll do it."
Championship game. Me vs. commissioner's brother. Close game going into Monday night. I'm leading by 1 or 2 points, and the commissioner's brother has his RB going on MNF. Rosters lock 5 minutes before game's scheduled start. So at 7:55 p.m. C.S.T., our rosters lock. Then, at 8:02, the commissioner's brother (who happens to be at the commissioner's house for the holidays, watching MNF with his bro) hears that his runningback is out. So he posts to the message board at 8:03 p.m. C.S.T. (still 5 minutes before the *actual* kickoff, mind you) that he wants to insert his backup RB--but he has to do this via the message board, of course, because the rosters have locked. His backup RB scores enough points for him to win our game.
I, of course, note that he can't change his lineup after the roster deadline has passed. I even offer to have a league vote to settle the issue. But instead, the Commissioner rules by decree that even though the Yahoo roster deadline had passed, since his brother's post to the message board was 5 minutes before the actual kickoff, then it is a valid roster move and his brother "wins" the league.
What says you?
(My posting of this story was inspired by this post, and just got me to thinking. . .) :bitter:
