Never Mind The Baubles - Christmas '77 with The Sex Pistols

"Looking back to Christmas 1977 with an irreverent portrait of the times, featuring unseen footage of The Sex Pistols. Director Julien Temple presents a unique insight into the tradition and transgression of Christmas. Featuring interviews and 70s archive, framing The Sex Pistols' last UK concert with Sid Vicious, for the children of striking firemen in Huddersfield on Christmas Day 1977." - BBC

You can have your Star Wars Holiday Special, your Bing Bowie and David Crosby duet, your Grandma getting run over by a reindeer. Give me the Sex Pistols.

You're welcome.

“I loved the unwrapping of the gift more than the gift itself . . . after two hours [with the gift] you’re back to playing with the box!” - Johnny Rotten

Watching the first eleven minutes of that was a reminder of how screwed Britain was before the growth of the eighties. The seventies look like they’re from a different century, because they are, really. Wow. Just a reminder of what living was like.

I remember my own childhood through those sepia pictures out of Polaroid cameras. Definitely not much grandeur to capture. Mostly families just being families with whatever means they had to get by on.

Anyway, those are my quick impressions after the first ten minutes or so.
