New Chargers Uniforms (1 Viewer)

No wonder the Phillip Rivers jersey I bought a week ago was half off.

I don't like the new uniforms. The shoulder area is stupid. Rumor has it that the helmets will be white (which might be kind of cool).

I guess I am in the monority but I always thought the traditional uniforms they have worn the past 20+ years were fine. I also like the powder blue uniforms when they whip those out once in awhile. The neavy they were looks good to me.

The new uniforms are trying too hard. They put that powder blue in with the navy...doesn't look right.

Me neither. They are pretty darn ugly. The uniform they have worn in recent years was one of the classiest ones in all of sports.

There was a time in the 90s/00s when teams changed their helmet or uniform, they made it to the Super Bowl.

The Patriots (right after whacking Pat Patriot)

The Cowboys (star on the shoulder area)

The Ravens (new helmet logo)

The Rams (yellow to gold)

The Giants (the helmet logo)

I guess the Bolts will do anything to get Tomlinson a playoff victory. ;)

Yea, but the Rams just came off of a SuperBowl victory in yellow...changing to gold actually decreased their luck

Factually speaking, they won the Super Bowl in yellow, then changed the following season to gold, and failed to make it to the Super Bowl - so you're correct. Then they got back in the following year, and lost to the Paaaaatriots.

The chargers had some of the coolest looking uni's in the league

...after the Raiders of course.

I'm, suprised they changed them.

What a horrific day.... :wall: That looks completely foolish.

Change just for the sake of change (and marketing dollars) SUCKS!

Let's recap the fairly recent uniform changes:

Buffalo: The NEW ones are worse than the OLD ones which are worse than the ones from the O.J. Simpson era. Every change the Bills have made has been for the worse. :hifive:

New England: The NEW ones can't hold a candle to Pat Patriot.

Let's skip the commentary, shall we?

St. Louis: OLD (Greatest uniforms E-V-E-R) >>>>>>>>> NEW (mustard yellow... :hurl:)

Atlanta: 70s uniforms and 80s uniforms > 90s uniforms > Current uniforms

Philly: 70s uniforms > 80s uniforms > Current uniforms

Houston/Tennessee: OLD >>> NEW

Denver: OLD > NEW

Detroit: OLD > NEW

Seattle: OLD > NEW

Arizona: OLD > NEW

Minnesota: OLD > NEW

The only changes I don't hate:

Tampa's new uniforms are sharp, but I'm one of the few who didn't mind the pumpkin duds.

San Fran's new gold-dominated uniforms took a while to grow on me, but they are sweet.

The following teams get credit for not messing with a good thing over the years:

Dallas, Oakland, Indy, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Green Bay, Chicago, Washington and K.C.

Small issues are that I didn't like Pittsburgh changing the fonts on their numbers from squared to rounded off. They should have left it the way it was. Also, whomever decided that it would be a good idea for the Redskins to wear white pants with the white jerseys should be locked in a room with no windows for the rest of eternity.

And kudos to the Jets and Giants for returning to their old uniforms after an ugly stretch.

Oakland and Washington have the best looking uniforms IMO.

What was the reason the Chargers made some changes to their uniform?

One thing I can't stand is the dark on dark uniforms, especially Jacksonville. There for awhile it seemed like a lot of teams (in most team sports) were going to black uniforms. I think they are ugly. Hopefully they were only a short lived fad.

:( AND YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN!!I don't know why everyone seems to automatically hate any new uniform. I think the new unis are nice. I also think that the powder blue Charger unis are terrible. They look like kids pajamas.

Serves em right since that gold is seriously butt-ugly - as is the Pats with red/white/blue......and silver?? :goodposting: Course most logo/etc changes in the past 20 years have ranged from somewhat weak to horrific-ly ugly. TB was an exception, although they're not great either.....just by default it had to be better. PHI's new helmet was an improvement over the green/silver puke also.Anyway the SD shoulder thing is stupid, but not 1/10th as stupid as messing w/the helmet. Oh and in fairness do NOT bring back "powder blue." Will never get people liking that, except maybe for nostalgic purposes. Cmon - powder blue? Gee why not toss some light green and pink in there and you're all ready for Easter :violin:PS and any uniform combo that uses the same color for the shirt and pants looks like jammies and is completely tahrded.

The last permanent uniform change that I can say that I loved was Cincinnati Bengals changing 25 years ago or so to the uni's they have now. I probably would add the Jets' change to their retro uni's to that category, and perhaps the Patriots and Broncos. I thought the Chargers Cowboys' and Eagles touch-ups of their exiting uni's were all right too. Seattle's new uni's have grown on me too,as have the Giants' retro unis.

I too love the Chargers' powder blue unis.

I'm not a fan of the Rams' gold uniforms, nor of the monochrome look the Falcons went to that emphasized the black.

Igot that email from the chargers advertising 50% off all jerseys, I thought that a uniform change was the reasonAre they changing the powder blue uni style too?

Seattle's all dark uniforms are probably the ugliest uniforms in the league. When they wear their white jerseys they look pretty good.

Most of you are acting like the Chargers changed their colors to hot pink and black (ala Bret "The Hitman" Hart) and were adding tutus around the waist. There's nothing wrong with these new unis. If you want to :lmao: about doing it for :banned: then I'll listen. Style-wise, there's no reason to riot.

Cue up the Eagles song "Get over it"...

I think the Bengals tiger stripes are the most rediculous uniforms in all of sports. Honestly, they're just embarrassing. They look downright foolish, this is professional foothball not Halloween. Might as well stitch a tail coming off their ### to complete the look. Maybe paint some cat whiskers on their cheeks with the eye black. GRRRRR!!Bengals = Worst uniforms in the history of sports.

The white on the shoulder is a classic look, from the Dan Fouts era to the powder blues, they've had the white shoulders behind the bolt for years.I've always been a big fan of the bolts uniforms, and I like these. :goodposting:

ETA: I'll admit they took it a bit too far with the white around the collar, though.

Those saying the Chargers have classy uniforms, then why tinker with them? If it isn't broke, why fix it?

St. Louis: OLD (Greatest uniforms E-V-E-R) >>>>>>>>> NEW (mustard yellow... :hurl:)
The Rams throwback unis are the only ones I see that look much better than what they are wearing now. That being said, I think SD screwed the pooch with their new unis.....they shoulda gone powder blue full time.
How about the old LA Rams Roman Gabriel
I don't know if I'd go that far back...

They weren't terrible, but when they changed the primary color scheme from blue/white to blue/yellow in '73, the uniforms became world-class. Incidentally, the Rams were also the first pro football team to have a helmet logo. Their halfback painted rams horns on all of the helmets in 1948.

Guilty as charged.I started watching football in the mid-70s, and I like things the way they were.

The 2-point conversion/fantasy football/Directv/instant replay were the only good changes.

I don't think there has been a lot of support for new Chargers uniforms from too many people in this thread, but especially not from those of us who liked the recent ones.

I don't think the white around the bolt is that big of a deal as much as positioning the shoulder bolt AROUND the shoulder rather than ABOVE the shoulder. I also don't like the oblong white trim around the collar, the new-age numbers, or the powder blue trim on the numbers. Other than that, it is fine. Although i haven't seen what it looks like with the helmet yet.
