***New England at Miami*** (+6) 41u The Tua Mac Bowl (1 Viewer)

Vintage Tua. 7 of 7 for 54 yards and a 7 yard TD to Waddle who caught 4 short passes to set the rookie record for # of catches. I think all passes were "rhythm" tosses to his first read. Longest pass was 11 yards to Gesicki.

I expect games in Miami to be a house of horrors, but the phantom penalty ended up in 3 points for MIA when the Pats would have had the ball at the Dolphins 43 yard line instead. Plenty of game left for the Pats to play mediocre for that play not to matter. But one to footnote potentially for later if the game ends up close.

Always an asterisk...

33-24

Miami 9-8

2-0 vs New England

19-15 last 2 seasons, B2B winning seasons and yet no postseason for them despite the NFL widening it to 7 teams now that make it

Mac Jones did well today, except for the int and the fumble. He also threw into coverage a few times. I was actually more impressed with his 1st game vs Miami when he was pressured constantly, but got the ball out just before getting hit on multiple occasions. Teams know he makes quick decisions so they may be blitzing less.

If the measuring stick is the ability to advance deep into the playoffs, I'd say you're dead wrong.

If the Pats win more than one playoff game this year I'll be amazed.  In a good way, but still.

With a very good defense and running game, the Patriots could easily win game one. It'll be either @CIN or @BUF. They should be competitive in every game.

The measuring stick for a rookie QB isn’t usually going far in the playoffs. That they’re in them at all is success.

Agreed...Pats took a big step forward this year, but they are still one more good offseason from being a legit threat in the playoffs...they just don't have enough weapons in the passing game and they need help at LB.

And also Burrow and Herbert will be in Year 3, Mahomes can still take an average team and make them a SB contender, I think they need more than just a better WR and a LB, Mac Jones is going to have to improve light years in a quick period of time. He can manage a game just fine and will continue to do so, good poise in the pocket and trusts his coaches, you can tell by how he runs the offense on the field, he listens.

But there's going to be a huge talent gap there for some time.

I'm not worried about Mac improving...those three guys are more talented than Mac but he is in a system that is a perfect for for his skills...when you look at their rookie years Mahomes did not play and the other two were on subpar teams...Mac was thrown right into the fire and had to perform for a team playing for the playoffs which is not usual for a rookie QB...when I see criticism of him it is pretty much the same as the ones thrown at Brady early in his career (and I am obviously not saying he will be Brady)...once he gets more weapons this offense will take a big leap but right now the combo of a rookie QB still learning and the lack of weapons limits this offense in a big way.
