New England at Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

He caught the ball.  Demonstrated possession.  Knee was down.  He then extended the ball towards the goal line which was a football move.

He wasn't going down in the process of the catch.

Un####ingbelievable.

The ball moved, but wasn't his other hand under the ball the whole time?
I don't think so. He had one hand on each side of the ball and his left hand came off when it hit the ground. I told my wife immediately after the first close up that the TD was going to be taken away. I'm actually surprised it took as long as it did.

Bobbling a catch is one thing, but clearly grabbing the ball with both hands, bringing it in towards his body, and then extending to to reach over the goal line is enough demonstration of control to me. (Not a Steelers fan)

because it looks like a catch, he has control of the ball and crosses the goal line with it. To me and I think to most fans and coaches you would consider that a TD.
But it's not a catch. So how can he score a TD when he didn't even catch it.

I guess we can go round and round but a catch has to be defined. You can define it differently but I guarantee you that will create the same amount of problems as you're solving.

I'm firmly aware of the rules, but that was still a BS call in my book. Yes, one hand came off the ball, but he still had enough of the other hand under the ball to be given the benefit of the doubt, especially since it was ruled a TD on the field. I saw no conclusive evidence to overturn that one.
This

It wasn’t a catch and good win by the Pats.  This was an evenly matched game. I wasn’t too optimistic going into it but I’m very encouraged with what I saw.  Pats of course got their usual BS luck with a tipped interception to end the game.

Would you get rid of the “going to the ground” rule?

How did he demonstrate possession? And yes he went down in the process of his catch in his own.

Literally nothing you said is true

Patriots:

"Boy, I hope they do something stupid and try to force in a slant pass like the dumb Seahawks did that time".

"Thank you!"

Has any team won more games on absolute stupidity by the other team than the Pats?  Teams just lose their marbles in crunch time vs them. It’s amazing.

He had it in his hands, and pulled it into his body.  His knee was down.  Then he extended it while turning towards the end zone.

Everything I said was true.  Watch the play.

I’ve watched it...he didn’t pull the ball all the way in and reached out as he is going down making the catch.

Possession was never demonstrated.

And I was pulling for Pitt there.

It wasn’t a catch by any definition.

Classic example why I gave up my season tickets and spend zero dollars or emotional energy on NFL.

It is still entertaining....like WWE. The refs sway every game massively and if you think the best team wins fairly every week you have been had.

The best part about the Pats is that Bill gets this and works it to his advantage.

Great game decided by camera technology and retired refs sitting in NY.

Something just not cool about that.

It’s 2017. League analyzes every detail of all 20 angles of every play that’s challenged. Based on that there has to be very specific detailed requirements for what a catch is. It looks to move on the ground as he’s going to the ground, according to the rule that’s not a catch. What do you want, no more challenges period? I’m game.

I'm a pats fan and I have no idea how that wasn't a TD.

That said, Ben screwed up. Like Romo said, you throw the fade there. You don't pull a R. Wilson and throw an inside slant into three defensive players. That lost the game. Period.

He caught it with his back to the end zone, pulled it in closer to his body and controlled it enough WITH HIS KNEE DOWN to rotate his entire body around and extend the ball towards the end zone.  THat's possession with a knee down and a football move.

This is going to end up in a rule change
