if you want to draft to win now, LTSjax is a RB that I would consider at #1 in a new dynasty league. The guy is talented.Unless you seriously doubt the health of Peterson, you have to take him. If you do doubt it, a trade is your best bet. I'm struggling trying to think who would be a good alternative, and the best I can do is Addai if you want solid numbers guaranteed or maybe McFadden if you're a big risk taker.
I think Tomlinson, Jackson, and Ronnie Brown are all too old for me to give them consideration with the 1 pick. If it's a later pick and I have a better chance at landing a young runner in the second, those would all be guys I'd be more willing to consider.if you want to draft to win now, LTSjax is a RB that I would consider at #1 in a new dynasty league. Steven Jackson is 25. Do you really think 25 is too old to draft at 1? I dont think Ronnie Brown is a consideration until mid-2nd round in a start up dynasty league - but not because he is too old. He is 27. It is the ACL and the fact that he has never completed a full season, and on top of that plays for a horrid offense (Fins Homer here). He was money for games 2-7 last season though!I have the top pick in a start up dynasty with a bonzai draft. ADP is such a shockingly easy choice in my opinion. Personally, I take Steven Jackson next without even thinking about it. After that, I guess you take LT and focus on winning it in the next 2 seasons, or go with Addai and have him as your stud for the next 6 years.Obviously, just IMO.I think Tomlinson, Jackson, and Ronnie Brown are all too old for me to give them consideration with the 1 pick. I hear you - LT cannot ever be called a "bad choice" - but ADP will not be 30 years old for 7 years. LT will be 30 in 2009. For that reason alone, I believe ADP is a clear cut easy decision over LT in a start-up dynasty league. In a redraft, I take LT probably. Not in a dynasty though.ADP has the legitimate potential to be your stud for 8 more years (when he will be 31). Realistically, LT will be your stud for 3 more tops - and that is a stretch IMO.Whatever you do, I wouldn't plan on more than 3 years out. Just drafting younger guys over older guys doesn't make any sense. Way too many things changes year to year, let alone over 3 years. LT as a 1st overall is a very legitimate strategy -- don't discount it.
LT had several clunkers early in the season. Nobody gets 150 and 2 every week. SJax missed half the season, and is holding out - and has a weak OL, and an aging offense overall (I still dig him at 2 though). Gore had a ton of crap games last year, and was by most standards a big disappointment. Larry Johnson? I cannot see this argument. Not in a redraft, but especially not in a dynasty. He is 6 years older than ADP, and instead of getting arguably the best OL in the NFL, you get arguably the worst. Neither team has stability at QB, but I think I take Jackson over Croyle. Plus, LJ was not good last year for the most part, and then got hurt. I see him as an early to mid 2nd round pick in a dynasty draft personally.I cannot see a good argument for taking any of those guys ahead of ADP in a dynasty draft.Yes...the power of the mancrush is strong!I think that you have to be very careful with choosing Adrian Peterson here ...He is a great talent with lots of excitement surrounding 2007, but his opportunity makes me anxious, and his history of injury makes me hesitant to put so much faith in him.Look at the last four games he played last year. That performance is not going to win you any championships. That's a combination of many things, but it is certainly a function of the fact that Tavaris Jackson and the receiver crew cannot keep Defenses honest. They will fill the box with everyone and Peterson will have many Sunday afternoons with ... 9 rushes for 27 yards ... 11 rushes for 36 yards ... Doesn't matter how good the O-Line is ...I'd take LT2, Steven Jackson, Frank Gore and possible Larry Johnson before I'd take Peterson until the landscape in Minnesota changes.
I am actually considering LT #1 overall in my start up dynasty league. If I can convince myself he has 3 top years left, I will take him #1 overall.Whatever you do, I wouldn't plan on more than 3 years out.
