New NFL Uniforms / Logos for 2013 (1 Viewer)

Finally getting a chance to see the Texans/Vikings replay. I'm supremely disappointed by Minnesota's new uniforms. They used to be pure class, now they look like an Arena League team. Every change they've made gets worse and worse. The helmets are drab, the stripes on the sleeves are stupid and the numbers font is ridiculous.

Other than that, they are fantastic.

I love the Dolphins new uniforms and I write this as a Jets fan who hates the Dolphins. They got rid of the dopey dolphin wearing an utterly moronic M helmet. Also, the jersey is much cleaner now. The shadow effect number font of the past 17 or so years was awful.

I like the new Jaguars uniforms.

The Vikings would look better if the helmet color matched the jersey color. It is not the first time we have seen this, though. The Giants had this problem for a long time and the Cowboys currently have this problem.

Totally agree.

The Vikings uniform and helmet is a tragedy.

I actually like the finish on the new Vikings helmets...not super-shiny metallic paint but a nicer, kind-of satin finish. Something cool about that to me.

Agree. But it would be nice if it could match the jersey.

Dolphins went from a very good traditional logo/uniform... to the leagues worst uniform and one of the worst logo's. It is a horrific to see the Dolphin turn into a blinding Arena football league team.

I know of 3 or 4 Dolphin fans who are absolutely sick over this... refuse to buy anything Dolphins now and are trying to get a petition to get the old uniforms back.

Horrible and it's now a running joke. Who decided this? They should be fired IMMEDIATELY.

The Jags threads on the field look pretty sweet. I wasn't sure what to make of them just from pictures on a mannequin. One thing going for them is they don't have a lot of history that old-school fans will get fired up about changing.

RN doing good work in here, but I guess I don't get the outrage over uniforms. Unless you wear a lot of team gear, and even then, it's not like you are going to get grief for your choice.

Really? They actually liked that moronic M helmet on the dolphin? A fake helmet on a helmet is stupid.

I'm guessing you are a fairly young guy.

For those of us who grew up when the Dolphins were good every year, that "moronic M helmet" on the dolphin is iconic.

I'm an NFL fan first and a Raiders fan second.

I get pissed when classic uniforms are pushed aside in favor of this modern dreck. And get off my lawn, blah blah blah.

Yes.

Next up... a graphic on the Browns helmet... don't think it won't happen.

BTW - Vikings helmet... DAF****QQQQ????

Remember the prototype 49ers helmet the team introduced before the 1991 ('92 maybe?) season? Oof.

Fortunately, the fans revolted and threatened to burn down the stadium or something, and the team backed down.

Just got a chance to read this thread all the way through. Great pics, RN. Made this thread that much more fun to read. Thank you.

I forgot how friggin awesome the Rams' unis were. For those that missed it, here's the link again: http://picload.org/image/odidloi/5-5-201210-43-08.jpg

Awesome.
Makes me wanna cry. Look at those unbelievably great uniforms... now look at these.

It's like a bad joke. I want to give everyone in the Rams' front office a breathalyzer test.

I remember when Dickerson would break a long run and it would look so much better when his legs were a blur in those yellow pants. And the blue towel he always had hanging from his pants was the coolest thing ever when we were kids. It made him look even faster - like he was so speedy that a part of his uni was breaking apart and dangling behind him as he whizzed to the end zone.

Here's a pic of Dickerson in the sweet duds - even the glasses matched! http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/976/554/89751174_display_image.jpg?1306808095

:sigh:

Absolute perfection.

Both of these teams should have left things just the way they were.

You don't need to improve on excellent.
:goodposting:

Could not agree more...

If you have to change your uniform every 3-5 years, it obviously stinks. And you can count on the Dolphins and Vikings changing again before long.

In the case of the Raiders, Steelers, Green Bay, etc. they never change not only because of their tradition, but also because their uniforms are iconic. The Dolphins and Vikings original uniforms were too. But likely due to lackluster performance in recent years, both franchises clearly appear to be trying too hard to remain relevant with the kids.

Oh... and agree 100% with RN on the original Rams uni's... terrific.

And is it just me or does it jump out how much bigger guys shoulder pads were? Now everyone wants to be svelte. I always wanted as much padding as I could get... the more/bigger the better!

I have been watching the NFL religiously since 1984. Super Bowl 19 was the first one I watched live. That was Miami's 19th season, so the franchise was still fairly young. I am neither a traditionalist nor a new school, crazy Nike football uniforms guy. I am in the middle. I like some old stuff. I like some cuckoo new stuff.

My all-time favorite NFL uniforms are the Falcons and Cardinals uniforms from the 1980s, the Broncos from the

70s, the Jim Mora era Saints, the John Jefferson era Chargers and the standing red buffalo Bills uniforms. Nothing outrageous there, right?

There is no right or wrong here.

You say iconic.

I say moronic.

That powder blue one is pure awesomeness, but they even manage to screw that up now.

Note the dreaded "collar" and the switched positions of the bolts and numbers.

It shouldn't be that hard to keep the original look.
Yeah, what's with making the lightning bolts so damn skinny? Part of the sweetness of the powder blues is the contrast of the powerful yellow of the bolts on the jerseys.

And this might be sacrilegious, but I actually didn't like Miami's little mini-helmet on the dolphin either. I thought the logo looked good until you took a close look and saw a dolphin that looked like it hopped off the short bus with its head shoved in a helmet that was 3 times to small for its head. I loved the rest of the uniforms, though - even the helmets if looking from a distance.

I'm not a fan of the new helmets. Whose idea was it to make the dolphin look like a speedy slug?

The new Dolphin helmets make me think of the Boston Breakers from the USFL

That's funny, I'd like to see them wear that as am alternate one time just for the joke if it.

Does anybody else remember the Patriots 1979 prototype helmets?

LINK
I was going to all the games back in the suck years at Schaeffer / Sullivan Stadium,

and I've never seen this logo. I like it.

What a crazy story. Showing Pat Patriot in one endzone and the flag logo in the other,

and have the fans vote for the team logo during halftime of a regular season game.

:good posting: The Jags have no history or tradition and are trying to start fresh. Might as well shake things up completely.

So Miami's helmets and pants match but not the jerseys, just cannot understand what they were thinking with the new logo. No one is buying it.

That's right. Nobody is buying it. The new uniform and logo was created by somebody who hated it and it was implemented by a higher up who hates it and was done so just to piss off everyone on earth.

I do not mind the uniforms but the STRIPE down the middle of the helmet is TERRIBLE--it has got to go.

There are some teams where this very well could be the truth in terms of how they operate :)

Old Patriots logo/uni was really awesome.
I don't remember that redesign proposal but I agree the old logo was infinitely better than what they have now. The current one still looks like a left over American CFL team logo, to me :(

If New England hadn't been in 5 Super Bowls since switching to the new logo, there would probably be a bigger lobby to switch it back..... it does suck in every way.

Agreed... too bad because the Pat the Patriot throwbacks they wear are the best.

True.

About the helmet logos - there has been a drive within the league's marketing "brains" to reduce the size of the logos and to increase the swoop or swerve effect with them. This has happened with several teams and might be related to (supposedly, the claim is) how it looks on HD tv.

Have the Skins ditched the yellow pants for home games this year? Wearing white ones tonight.

I think the yellow and burgundy look great. Memories of the Over the Hill Gang.
