New Orleans vs. San Francisco (1 Viewer)

49ers need to use this as a jumping off point. They took the defending champs down to the wire.
this team is such a tease... you can see why people were on the bandwagon this offseason by the way they played tonight, butthey just shot themselves in the foot repeatedly. Hopefully for them something clicked with Smith down the stretch.

I have seen so much losing football.

That, by the 9ers, was losing football.

Jim Mora said it (back when he was talking about the Saints vs the 9ers ironically): WOULDACOULDASHOULA.

WORM TURNS YEARS LATER:

Reggie > Pierre tonight
Do you think Reggie could have run through those non-existent holes at the line? The playcalling had a lot to do with it.Reggie was not asked to pound it between the tackles and PT was. there was more than one occassion where there simply wasn't anything there with red jerseys meeting PT in the backfield.SF has a pretty good rund Def and I'm not the least bit disappointed in PT's performance. He got what was avialable! If Reggie is out with injuries he'll get even more.He caught two passes in a row from Brees to help put them in FG range. That is what the coaches will remember.PT will get his this year and as long as you have te correct expectations (RB2/Flex) you won't be disappointed.
Are you Pierre's agent or mother?

So 5 rushes for 4 yds makes reggie a better RB?Care to explain?

49ers could have won the game. No one that turns the ball over 4 times, incurs drive extending defensive penalties in a second half td drive for the Saints and can't manage the clock should have won.

However, I think the 49ers win the west and maybe a playoff game .

Saints lose Hamilton and now Bush. This is just one reason it's hard to repeat.

wow...words cannot describe how I feel. but I do hope everyone in the "fire singletary" crowd can calm down now

The Saints' biggest problem is not their defense.......it's that they have lost the power running game and 3rd RB option they had in `09.Now they look like they did in `08, except the defense is better and they know how to finish better. But they are now down to one primary RB (by the looks of it) and they have lost the Reggie Bush playbook; not good.
:blackdot: Ivory needs to get suited up or Bush needs to return.I just can't see PT shouldering the load for the rest of the season.

You know what, not so sure. The 9ers were very bad before Singletary and they are far better now. True. But there were some really bad things there. Poor - POOR - special teams. POOR snapping (yes these things are coachable). Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers - yes, the Saints have been making their bones off of that for more than a year now but in that game, with what they had at stake, no, if the 9ers want to win those things can't happen.Maybe the 9ers feast on the Cards, Rams and Hawks (Game 2 in SF maybe?); but 0-2 is 0-2.

my point was that singletary did everything right this game, and even raye wasnt so bad after the first few drives settled in (he showed some balls too, which was unexpected)the turnovers- 2 tipped balls were largely accidental; the muffed punt was on adams and of course the 'safety snap' was on the centerMike's making the right decisions and the niners played the defending champs very tough. I dont think anyone else would have done much better than Mike did from head coach point of view in this game.

Ok, they have @ KC next week, then @ATL, then Philly at home.KC will be looking at maybe going 3-0, they will be as geared up as SF was tonight; I'm not sure Singletary can afford any more 'good efforts' in losses even in a division where 8-8 might get a team to the playoffs.

i think you are right, i think the 49ers at 7-9 will win the west by defaulti'm too drained to read the thread, but anybody comment on Bush tackling willis from behind during his blitz on the 3-7 on NO's first TD? or the clip on Bush's big return?

man....tough game, f'n delanie and adams......
