New Rose , time flies (1 Viewer)

I'm about a week late but New Rose  by The Damned was the fist British  punk single released 40 years ago. The Damned were never my cup of tea but I tip my hat to the part they played on changing the musical scene back in the stone age.

They also were the first to release a full album and tour the U. S.

Damned Damned Damned, was a great Punk album. New Rose, Neat Neat Neat, and I Feel Alright (Stooges cover of 1970) really helped define the British Punk sound. I'm also not a fan of their transformation into Goth crooners, but they left their mark in the early Brit Punk scene.

Varian had the over the top theatrical goth look from day 1 but that look he had in the mid 80s :lmao:

Marilyn Manson ever thank Vanian for his look?

Damned Damned Damned blows so many would-be punk albums away that it's scary.

As for New Rose, the nod to the Shangri-La's followed by the primal drumming is not only the first punk single in the U.K., but probably also the most inventive while being derivative at the same time.

Is she really going out with him?
