new rule...a trade veto compromise? (1 Viewer)

i am strongly opposed to vetoing any type of trade. in my view, barring collusion (which is very hard to prove), if you pay for your team you should be able to do whatever you want with it. the only problem is protecting the integrity of the league. you don't want others quitting on you, you don't want experienced owners gaining free upgrades via a newbie owner.

if a lopsided trade or collusion occurs, an owner must put together a very strong case to nominate it to a vote. if vote passes (say 9 out of 12?), the offender is put on 'probation'. this probation lasts the span equal to week 1 through the trade deadline and carries over into next year.

ex: trade deadline is week 10. if suspicious trade occurs in week 3, probation lasts from week 3, to week 2 of the next year. as far as the off season, i'm not sure on that one myself

NOW, if the player on probation makes a second suspicious trade during his probational period + is nominated to vote via strong case by owner + the vote passes = this player is suspended for 1 year full from all trades.

once the player gets through the probation or suspension period, all is forgotten. his time has been served

*if the 'offender' ends up winning with this deal or comes out even while on probation (say a foster for turner trade in june, 2010), probation is dropped immediately

what this does?

no trades will ever be reversed with this rule.

offending owner is still upset, but not as much since the trade still goes through.

reduces the chance other owners quit since there is still a penalty involved. offending owner is not getting off for free even though the trade went through.

the only weakness to this rule is suspended player gets upset and leaves the league. this rule works better in a '50% next year deposit' league

idea inspired by the "league trade drama!" thread

good idea? :shrugs:
