What's up guys? I've been on board with WL since July (thanks to this thread) but just now posting in here for the first time. I always see the FBG in the game. I'm registered on there simply as Zed, in case you see me (I think there is one other Zed also).
Hi zed. Most of us are listed as FBG - ... just to help us find each other in the big tourneys and the invite lists. Tick maintains a pretty good list of everyone playing, iirc.

You should definitely do this.Although, I don't necessarily mind an active random team mate. The alternative could be worse.

We actually have a tournament set up simply to keep tabs on all FBG players. If you pm me your email address, I'll invite you to it, so you can see everyone. We can get you in on the FBG tournaments to test your skill. :D

i started playing this game about a month ago, and man is iut fun and addicting. i ended up going a half-hour late to work the other day to get my moves in

Then there are the various arrogant nerds who are part of the FBG camp, but don't include the FBG tag in their handle. I'm so sick of those clowns.PS, were you going to send me that PM we discussed while getting run out of Poland? :goodposting: Pretty please?

thanks, but i joined the list yesterday (i believe). I am FBG - Mo Dogg. I think i am on the list, but I'll check again and PM you if I am not. Thanks for setting all of that up, I look forward to getting my feet wet with a little more competition.

I couldn't find the pm, so I'm setting up a multiplayer game that mirrors the scenario with no fog- I'll invite Guderian as well, as he's played this extensively- I'll get it up and running later this evening- there'll be a cheat in there to make things run smoothly

Yep, you're in. I'll add you to my invite list for future FBG tourneys. Humuna creates most of the fbg FFA games.

PM sent to get in on that as well. Let me know if I need to do anything.

Finally beat the Insane challenge today. 36 turns, which was way longer than it needed to be. I'm that craptastic brown color, and the magenta color looks about the same... I didn't notice that one of the AIs has broken through my abandon and had to clean it up.

I'll never play it again.

Congrats!

I usually don't pay enough attention to the uservoice stuff unless I get an email saying some votes have been returned. But, I was browsing the warlight forums today and came across a suggestion for tournaments.

http://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051...nament-overhaul

Bio has also suggested the following idea: http://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051...in-a-tournament

I've requested Bio's suggestion to be added to the larger list in order to not divide votes, but I think Bio's suggestion is more important to us as a group.

Wow, congrats!! That's really, really impressive. After swearing it off, I started playing it again one night about a month or six weeks ago when there were no good open games and nothing happening in my ongoing games. I got close twice in something like 12 or 15 tries, was creamed the other times. I guess it's about time for me to pick it up again; Gaspumper was going to offer me some strategy suggestions, I think. I can't seem to implement what he and Guderian suggested earlier in this thread correctly. Again, nice job, Tick.

I was just coming over to post this. Great suggestion by Bio, and I just gave three votes to it, along with a little reverse psychology comment designed, at least I'm hoping, to encourage the stodgy Randy Fizzer into implementing it.

I don't think Bio's proposal should be added to the longer grab bag list posted by the non-FBG player (eagle), because Fizzer doesn't react well to outside-the-lines proposals like eagle's. In this case, eagle's suggestion is actually ten different tweaks in one, and Fizzer's most likely reaction will be to ignore it because it should have been broken down separately. In any case, I think Bio's suggestion stands very well on its own. Hopefully anyone here who watches the Uservoice forum for WL will add three votes.

I've never used the hotkeys before:

WarLight supports a few hotkeys to make navigating the UI easier. Once you get used to the game, these can make playing easier.

A - While building your turn, you can press the A key to advance to the next phase.

Q - While building your turn, you can press the Q key to go back to the previous phase.

Z - When done building your turn, you can press the Z key to commit your orders assuming you've advanced to the confirmation phase.

R - Clicks the Refresh button.

W - When watching the latest turn, you can press W as a substitute for clicking the Watch Turn button.

T - Shortcut to opening the Chat window. (Multi-player only)

G - Shortcut to opening the History window.

B - Shortcut to opening the Cards window.

P and M - Short for Plus and Minus, these are shortcuts for zooming in and out. These are useful for systems without mousewheel support.Escape - Closes any open pop-up windows.

Control - While in the Attack/Transfer phase, you can hold down Control to cause clicks to initiate a deployment (just as would happen in the Deployment phase.) Many players prefer to just skip immediately to the Attack/Transfer phase and then deploy using this shortcut. This allows you to issue a deployment and the corresponding attack order at the same time rather than having to do all of your deployments separately from attacks.
P and M will be nice when I'm on the laptop without a mouse. Control will be nice all around. The others seem pretty worthless.

I had never noticed that the designer had a blog:

http://blog.warlight.net/

It looks like Warlight's coming out of beta, which will mean that some features will require a paid membership and others will remain free. There will be an ELO rating system.

How many are intending to buy a lifetime membership for $30?
I don't even have to think about it. Since I stumbled across this thread (thanks, guys, and special thanks to Dragons for being nice enough to answer some really stupid initial questions from me back then), I've had so much fun with Warlight that parting with $30 is an easy call. I think Fizzer is a bit arch about some things, but he designed a very nice game and one I thoroughly enjoy. I plan to sign up on Saturday or Sunday.

I'll buy in, the game's great and deserves the support.

In other news: Check out chat
That's hilarious. Tommy would fit in nicely here. :hophead: I'm planning to buy in as well. Mainly to support the game, but the free game will be gimped a bit too.

Aerial, any time, although I only vaguely remember what you're talking about.

I can't figure out what you're saying here.

While we're posting chat, this was my favorite... Emperor is on my black list for this and another game where he was just a total #####, but Trey was fun.

http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?GameID=1068682
LOL, Trey would fit right in as well.Emporer has been on my blacklist from early on, he used to create games with very short boot timers. He'd wait to join, you might wander off or start paying attention to something else and you'd come back to being booted.

Has Justin Case been surrendering early on in the rest of your games in the latest round robin team tourney? He just did in ours, I don't know what is up.

For one thing, I asked you what an abandon was. Your response, IIRC: "Good catch. FBGs love the abandon." And then you explained to me, very patiently, what using that card entailed.

In other words, you were being a really nice guy to someone who had no flipping idea what he was talking about. And I appreciate it.

The "arch" part, I take it? I don't know if you follow the Uservoice posts or the WL forum or not - - Bio and Enrico are the only FBGs I see on there regularly; SmokedPears and ThisGuy too on occasion. Anyway, Fizzer struck me as more than half a doosh during a recent debate on how to resolve stuck games. That's all. But I really enjoy WL and give him massive kudos for creating it.

A few of you may be interested to know that FBG - UNC IX is now over, and you can view the history. I think it was a fascinating game because of the map, and I'm not just saying that because I won.

It was an epic game. Can only wonder how things would have turned out if I had attacked you instead of Fred . . .

Attacking you is what won me the game, ultimately. I had too many territories that Side just couldn't get to, and I could get to all of his. What was interesting to me was that Sidewinder and I actually had lower income than several others for large parts of the game, but we didn't fight. Well, that's not true, I actually did fight a lot early, but there were periods when I just built up. And Sidewinder had to fight to establish his territory too. Great game by all. Epic is a good word for it.

Would expect to see a little more Gaspumper, but an impressive list. Grats on 2 solo wins, Humana. So 2 time winners regardless of format are: Humana, Scotty Fargo, and Guderian.

Big fan of the ladder so far. Need to get more FBGs to buy a membership and join the ladder competition. So far only a handful of us are in and Dragons is the only one with a decent ranking.

It'd be great to get more representation, especially from our masters of 1v1. The games are grueling and even the one's I've won have been very hard fought.I think I got an initial boost by being one of the first to join and getting some early wins, but I don't expect to be in the top 10 after the dust settles. Would be great to have a couple fbg's in there, even if they're not carrying the FBG prefix.
