I've played a bunch of fantasy football, but I just joined a free Yahoo fantasy baseball league to try it out and I'm a little overwhelmed trying to figure out the interface and the real-time nature of it. Any tips or reference sites for a newbie? Are there sites like FBG for baseball? Thanks in advance for any help.

Just trying to learn. Joined a midseason league. Was hoping to learn the basics this season so I could actually compete next season.

I have yet to find a message board as active as the FBG Shark Pool is.

Yahoo's probably your best bet for a starting point. Once you have your rankings assembled make fangraphs and razzball part of your regular reading. I'd recommend signing up for twitter if you aren't already and build a follow list. Mine's still a work in progress. Got a few good ones, but not nearly as much as football. Some of the team beat writer's for baseball are great for fantasy, but it's hit and miss. Hoping to have a follow list finalized by the end of the year to make prep for next year easier.

The one thing you won't get right away, but should hope to get by next year's draft - know your leagues rules and how to exploit them to gain an advantage.

Thank you very much for the tips, it gives me a great starting point. I did sort of expect a BaseballGuys type site somewhere which surprised me. I appreciate the help. :)

There are a lot of different kinds of leagues with different types of rules. Find one that fits what you are looking for. For example, I prefer auction over snake drafts and I like a league where you dont have to make daily lineups / transactions. That way I only have to worry about lineups / transactions once a week.

The baseballguys twitter handle is a good one. No site though :sadbanana:
