On another note... When there is snow in the streets, you really get to see how much dog piss is out there. My entire neighborhood is covered in yellow snow.
Why don't people just let them poop in their own yards? For like a two week stretch last month, there was a new dog #### on my block almost daily.
It got to the point where I was basically following every dog owner walking with their dog on my block and just watching them, not discrete at all, obnoxiously watching. I've got it narrowed down to 3 people, but as of now there hasn't been poop on the block in a few weeks.
If I actually caught the person in the act, I'm walking right up to them, taking a picture of them on my phone, and posting it everywhere in my neighborhood.
The penalties for not curbing a dog should be much more severe:
1st offense - $1,000
2nd offense - $5,000
3rd offense - $10,000 and 500 hours community service
4th offense - death penalty

I hope your friend is ok, nick. One friend of mine who lives in pleasantville was on the train behind. Have not heard from another friend who lives in Valhalla.
Sometimes I walk around Gramercy Park and the whole place smells like Intense Dog Piss....On another note... When there is snow in the streets, you really get to see how much dog piss is out there. My entire neighborhood is covered in yellow snow.
anybody else notice this, or just me?Speaking of... For some reason a lot of dog owners seem to believe that snow will magically make their dog crap disappear, and so decide to just leave it there. This makes for nice surprise #### mines or #### slurpees later.
hey reap- how's it been going... haven't 'seen' you around.Sometimes I walk around Gramercy Park and the whole place smells like Intense Dog Piss....On another note... where do you work again?
The news this morning said she was stopped on the tracks, the gate came down, she got out to see what hit her car, realized what was happening and then went forward instead of backing up. Apparently that's from the driver in the car behind her. Something seems amiss with the timing there though, so I'm not sure it's entirely accurate either.I hope your friend is ok, nick. One friend of mine who lives in pleasantville was on the train behind. I'm sure there have been, but I haven't caught the news- any updates on exactly why the woman was between the gates?
again- I got the impression that it was stop and go traffic on that road and that maybe she just kept going instead of leaving the tracks clear (even though there wasn't any train or warning probably when she made the decision)... like blocking the box in an intersection.
either way- that, or making a run for it when the lights were flashing... just a cataclysmically terrible, terrible decision.

my recycled cardboard is fused to the ice pile outsideAny chance the city ever picks up trash again? 4 pickups in a row have been a no show.

So because I'm having a totally jinxed 2015 so far, my reservation is canceled because the restaurant had a fire and is now closed for a few weeks. Sorry to the owners there, I shouldn't have shared my luck with you.Colonia Verde in Fort Greene. We like to stay close to home because of the kid and most Brooklyn restaurants we like don't take reservations. This place is fairly new and gets good marks so I'm happy to try it out.Where in Brooklyn? Thanks for the reminder. Made my reservation just now in Brooklyn!
With the progress of Opentable, you really need to get ahead of this stuff... Things are booked over a month in advance, kinda crazy.
nice- where?
Miami, business trip...
Basically had about 2 hours worth of work stuff to do and 4 days of beach/pool.

I walk past that every day.
Hopped off the M42 bus earlier this week and took about two steps before I realized I left my laptop bag on the bench seat (6:30 a.m., half empty bus). Bus was long gone and no cabs in sight. So I hoofed it over to Port Authority and reported it. They have a dispatch guy there loading the bus, he questioned each bus driver. "Dude, it was an Asian bus driver...how many of those you got?" 'Two. Beard or no beard?' "No beard" So they figure out which bus no beard Asian guy is driving and radio him. No bag. AYFKM? This is like a half hour after I left my bag in the bus.oh... A lot of good samaritans in the city... Six week old MacBook Air in there. FMTT. Locked through the findmyiPhone app.
I was bummed out all day. When I got home my doorman stopped me. "Mr. Layne, some guy dropped this off earlier", handed me back my bag, all contents safe and sound.
Good job, NYC samaritan.
